NFL Football LD, 2013/14 Season

Just to piggyback on my last post, doing some late reading I found an interesting tidbit about Marc Trestman that I was unaware of until just a little while ago:

I had heard about Trestman being a QB guru of sorts, but I either hadn't heard or just didn't catch that specific part of his history. I'm neither a Bears fan nor do I care what they do with their roster, but I'm just calling this one like I see it. McCown has looked great, and, with my knowledge of Trestman's work bolstered a bit, I honestly think Josh has got a future as the Bears starter should they pursue that arrangement.

Rich Gannon went to 2 straight Pro Bowls before Trestman even got there. He wasn't exactly a scrub. Let's not forget just like Cutler, McCown is also a free agent.

Feel bad that Romo's gonna get shit on for this game, but if that doesn't sum up the Cowboys in December I don't know what does. There's at least two coaches that I feel could (and probably should) be gone if they don't make the playoffs this year - Garrett and Schwartz. Those chances look better now than they did 10 hours ago.

That made my soul hurt.

The thing is you can't really even blame Garrett. He didn't so much cause the loss as he did put us out of our misery. That defense is so terrible that I could probably run for 68 yards and a touchdown. The same thing happened last week and it happened here. Romo and the offense did their jobs in the first half. There is zero reason we should have had to do anything else with the ball after being up 23 at half. That's mainly on the defense, even though that one play could have saved us.

Garrett definitely deserves some blame for the play calling. Demarco Murray was getting chunks of yardage almost every time he touched the ball and instead they put it in Romo's hands more often then not. The fact Dallas had a 23 point lead in the second half and a running back averaging 7.4 ypc, it is absolutely inexcusable for him to only have 18 carries. Garrett stated Romo changed the play on the first interception but Murray should have been fed the ball more well before that.

Thought...

The Cowboys trade up into the top 10 of the NFL Draft... and take Johnny Manziel.

Jerry Jones calls him the 'future of Cowboys Football'.

I mean at this point, Jones has to place blame somewhere and he seems to have left his best blame-fest for last with Romo.

Untimely interceptions aside, Romo is still one of the better quarterbacks in the league. The offense (while it has its flaws) isn't the reason Dallas is losing. Their historically bad defense is why they are losing. Plus Romo just signed a 6 year $108 million dollar extension with 55 mill guaranteed over the summer.

This Lions game is as awful as you'd expect it to be.

In more exciting news, hopefully these scores hold for the late game so San Diego can make the playoffs. Crazy Philip Rivers in the playoffs = win.

So long Metrodome, Vikes get to send you out on a win.

Been there 3 times in my life, a Twins game back in 1998, and two Vikings games in the past 4 years.

That being said, bring on the outdoor Vikings football! I can't wait to get tickets for a game in the dead of winter in December. It better be freezing ass cold with a blizzard on the way. I want the full experience.

The Falcons are absolutely pathetic. I didn't think it was possible for me to hate them more than I already did, but I learned something about myself today.

Games like these make me loathe Jerry Jones. This defense is so horrible but he'd rather just hire some big name instead of someone who could actually set up a good defense.

I knew it.

I knew they'd screw it up. The lights are on bright, the season comes down to one drive, and we screw it up. At least we didn't have to wait long this time.

Fucking Dallas. Not that I'm surprised, its almost expected for them to shit the bed at the worst possible time.

Its simply amazing how consistent they are at choking.

It's about twice as many points already as I expected and there's still a quarter to go.

Do think the Chiefs would be best off slowing the game down and trying to limit the amount of possessions. Kill a few minutes and score a TD and the pressure is really on the Colts.

How can you score 44 points in a playoff game, on the road, and not come away with the victory? I guess you can blame injuries, but even still, that's a hard pill to swallow for KC fans.

Crazy, crazy game. If Indy wants to make it to the AFC Championship game though their gonna need to play better D and the offense can't take a nap for the first half. That's not gonna get you a win against New England or Denver.
