New Creative Direction

Cleavo77

Occasional Pre-Show
We've seen reports of major changes to WWE Creative in the past few days/weeks. Most notably a lead creative change, and increased budget for creative. Obviously this isn't a guarantee for better build-up, story lines, characters, and feuds. However, this could be a step in the right direction, only time will tell.

That being said, the IWC constantly complains about the lack of creativity within WWE Creative. The reason I made this thread is I'd like some input from the critics. If you were the new creative leader, if you had a bigger budget, what would you do with your new power?

One thing I'd like to see is more personal, darker, gritty feuds. I wanna see a heel that can take a baby-face to his breaking point. I wanna see things like Triple H go to Orton's house again, Orton slapping Cena's dad again. I wanna see major changes in characters ideologies. I want to be surprised again. I want to "mark-out" again.

So, what are you gonna do about it, now that you are head of the NEW WWE CREATIVE!

I personally would have them use bad language occasionally. Yes words like ass and bitch are used and I realize its PG but even PG films have the occasional bad word in them. I feel it could make fueds more intense because sometimes there are no better ways to show frustration.

Another idea would be to stop making your mid-card champions lose to your world heavyweight champions. How can they be expected to look strong if they dont win occasionally.

Give the goofy characters e.g. Santino some kind of serious side. Santino for example could actually be offended by someone occasionally or maybe get upset when someone makes fun of him and stand up for himself.

Really Big Johnny said it before "Legitimacy". I want a fight to look real, I want a character to believable and I want to be to connect with a character. I want to see Kofi question why he is held back, I want to see Cena get angry occasionally, I want to see Khali get fired (because he cant walk basically) I want to see Orton snap sometimes and show us he is still dangerous, I want Kane to be a challenge due to his size.

Generally I want realistic characters who can make me believe what they are doing.

The first thing they need to do is have Cesaro and Barrett win matches on TV to make them look like champions, not jobbers. They need to stop making Ziggler look bad, I mean he's got TWO people helping him at ring side, one of them an absolute beast, yet he still loses clean to The Miz? That's dumb booking.

They need to give their characters more depth. The heels need to show how low they can sink and the faces need to show that they are not super- human, makes more of a feel good moment when they eventually overcome the odds.

They also need to give the talented in ring competitors who aren't necessarily great on the mic time to shine. They could showcase the wrestling ability of Justin Gabriel, Alex Riley etc instead of jobbing them out. The fans in the arenas and the fans who watch on TV would appreciate a fiercely contested bout between two great athletes.

They should come up with more interesting characters, I mean Fandango? Really? A ball room dancer is never going to get over.

If they want to be more edgy then they need to introduce the Wyatt Family to the main roster after Wrestlemania. That is a pretty unique gimmick and is far more deserving of TV time than a ball room dancer.

First of all there would be no 1-2 minute matches, for anyone. The biggest balance that I'd try to focus on is between wrestling and entertainment. I personally feel like a 10 minute match between Ziggler and Cesaro is twice as entertaining as Brodus dancing.

I'd also give the divas like 10 minutes a show. With a 3 hour program, that's not asking for much. Let AJ, Layla, Natalya, Kaitlyn, Naomi & Cameron, and A.Fox wrestle. Divas like Aksana can stay a valet. Have like a 6-7 minute match, then like a 1-2 minute promo/catfight/"drama" backstage to further storylines and develop characters.

And re-focus on the tag division. They spent all that time building it up just to leave it in the dust for THN. I'd personally invest in PTP and what would have been the team of Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd... Probably would invest in a mouth piece for them to, maybe a more peppy Aksana.

With a new/expanded creative direction, things can either get better or worse, or even worse, little to no change at all. I'm just hoping creative understands that fans care about more than the the first and last 10 minutes of the show.

I think WWE is already improving, and I'm optimistic about Triple H's era of WWE. The end of the brand split was obviously a great idea, because it allows Smackdown midcarders to occasionally appear on the A show, and Raw stars can do extra things on Smackdown like how CM Punk gets a long promo segment. Some quick guidelines:

- More competition for #1 contenders. Often a match is booked to decide a #1 contender spontaneously with no build. I think fans want to see this story play out on TV over a couple of weeks.

- Less squash matches. It devalues talent on the roster who may have fans (like Ryder, who shouldn't be as worthless of a fighter as he currently is). Squashes should be a big shock, so when Ryback or Mark Henry beat a guy quickly it actually means something.

- All championships should be seen as valuable to all wrestlers. It is foolish for Cena to avoid the IC or US title because he lost a WWE or WHC title match. Personally Cesaro looks more impressive than Cena at the moment because he holds a championship. When main eventers hold these championships it raises their value.

- Overhaul the Divas. Hire a Divas host who's excited about wrestling and acts like the Diva's number one fan (kind of like AJ's personality on NXT) who sets up storylines and conducts interviews with the girls. More alliances and feuds between individual Divas. More personality and gimmicks in the Divas division. Bring back Kharma and hire Daffney, Cherry Bomb, Angelina Love and try to get Velvet Sky. Hire back Beth Phoenix to be the monster heel.

They need to Build more main event guys because there is a lack of star power for the main event and it bothers me. I want to see 6 or 7 guys gunning for the gold, less of John Cena or CM Punk and more of Ryback or Dolph Ziggler for example. Something new if you know what I mean. Also less thrown together feuds and random matches, give these guys something to work with.
