NCAA

Yanno, the new ones coming out soon and I'm really partial towards getting it but I'm worried the game-play is going to be the exact same...I hope I'm wrong, but anyone think it'll change? A lot of the stuff I'm hearing I like about it and I hear Madden's franchise hasn't been changed what-so-ever.

The only new thing I hear about Madden is online team play where for example one person can control the receiving group.

Nah. Its 3 v 3 (or any mix of that). On Offense its the QB, RB's, and WRs the players control (and you select which group and cannot deviate from that. On D its D-Line, LBs, DBs, or "Any" is sometimes an option. Any lets you choose whoever isn't being used by the other core groups. Besides that, Madden has better run blocking (I think you can assign who blocks who now which is a nice addition) but besides that they haven't apparently done much beside add the Gameplan/Gameflow feature and something called Locomotion which I cannot figure out what that is.

Even if NCAA is just like last year with fixed gameplay, I'd be fine. That's one thing I love about NCAA, the Dynasty stuff.

Well its not likely to "fix" the gameplay, you dont just perfect everything in one year. Hit stick effectiveness has been greatly dialed down, much better AI blocking, and intuitive player spin/juke total control with the joysticks were the main gameplay focuses. There have been upgrades to recruiting and dynasty mode, I just havent been able to read them.

the BIG deal this year is super souped up presentation, shading, and lighting, which makes it the realest looking football game ever, and even better than Madden this year.

Again; I didn't care if they changed any of that. I liked all of the meat of the game, it was just little tweaks of things that just I thought were crazy and I wasn't alone with them.

Either way, demo's out so I'm giving it a go.

I know its just a demo, but if it's got the exact same features as last years NCAA (story wise) then I am willing to say this is the greatest football game I have ever played.

:lmao:

Whats funny, is you arent the first person I have seen say that

"I know this is just a demo, but this is the greatest game ever"

No, I mean seriously. This is the prettiest football game I've ever seen. Its still got the NCAA, loosey goosey feel (I dunno how to explain it) but its cleaner. Haven't had the issue with the QB's. Presentation is absolutely stunning and its just...amazing.

I seriously need help on Defense, Norcs. I refuse to be a noob and use what they suggest but I cannot figure out how to play defense in NCAA.

Run a 3-4 and spread everyone out. Blitz like fucking crazy. You will get smoked every once and again, but overall it works. Have to see how this years game plays though

I just got the Demo for it last night. I played a game, and it is pretty cool. They seemed to take a lot of the things that Madden did last year, and add it to this years game. I would highly suggest you wait until you play Madden before making a decision however. They have completely overhauled the most important aspect of a football game in Madden. The on-field play. I don't know when the Demo is coming out, but I would guess in a week or so. Everyone should want to play that, since the demo is Jets/Colts, and I'm a bias Jets fan.

Just in case you have been living under a rock the past few months, here's SOME of what's new in Madden 11:
  • Gus Johnson is the voice of Madden. You read that right, Gus Muthafucking Johnson. That alone should make the game worth the $60.
  • Games take half as long as they used to, because they completely overhauled the flawed playcalling system. Teams in real life don't use the entire playbook every week, they have a sheet that has a bunch of plays for each situation. They is now represented in Madden. And if you want, you can even use that gameplan to have the plays called into your headset, just like in real life.
  • The blocking game was fixed. No longer will you see blockers constantly whiff, or run away from their assignments.
  • Running was completely overhauled.
  • The kicking game was fixed in order to take the emphasis from power kickers and into good kickers.
  • The on-field presentation was fixed.
take everything that was wrong with the on-field play in Madden, and they fixed it. And the On-Field play is the most important aspect of a football game. Is the franchise the way it was? Maybe, but the offline franchise had very little problems, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did make changes to the online franchise and not announce them right now.

NCAA looks pretty awesome, but with all the overhauling they did to Madden, this debate is far from over.

The meat of Madden is completely unchanged and I thought that was the only problem with the game last year. They've already gone on record like that. Even then, you can get NCAA and trade it in for 40 dollars credit for Madden so its why I try and buy it though I might keep it this year.

Either way, Madden is basically just giving us the same game as last year with updated rosters. Franchise and everything hasn't changed, at all.

funny, because NCAA 11 is the exact same game as NCAA 10 then, and last years game sucked bigtime. I just listed a whole plethora of major changes to Madden, so I have no clue what you're babbling about Madden being the same game. Once you play the demo, you will realize it isn't the same game, and then you will regret even saying that.

And why should they change franchise anyway? The offline one was pretty good. There are much bigger fish to fry then the stupid franchise mode, like the actual gameplay. Last years gameplay was a step in the right direction, and now they are marching into the end zone with the gameplay changes.

Offline Madden Franchise could use a hell of an overhaul.

I guess it's just personal taste. I hated the NCAA Dynasty in recent years. Once I realized it took me an hour each week just to do recruiting, they lost me. Not to mention I get bored with playing as QB#7 and WR#23 with my Fighting Irish. NFL gives you players with actual names, you don't have to spend 9 years recruiting players, and the game on the field is solid.

Even still, they can't revamp everything in a 1-year span. It's impossible. They are perfecting the most important aspect of a football sim, the FOOTBALL GAMEPLAY. Next step will likely be the game modes, but still Madden is going to murder NCAA AGAIN this year.

You're just bitching to bitch. Madden's game-play last year was fine for me, NCAA was not. So what do they do? Both franchises work on their game-play. NCAA needed it, Madden didn't. You listed all game-play features, which again, were perfectly fine last year. The issue with NCAA last year WAS the game-play, the meat was great.

NCAA's Dynasty, Road to Glory, all of that is a MILLION times better then Madden. I can only do season, draft, season, draft, season, draft, so many times. Sometimes I want to act like a coach/gm and work for my players.

EDIT: Oh, and you can download names for your players. Wait till a week after the game comes out and someone will have made the entire NCAA Roster correctly.

Apparently you never played Madden NFL 10, which is surprising since you were in the Online Franchise. Running the ball was disgustingly horrendous. The linemen couldn't block, the kicking game was atrocious (shitty kickers could hit multiple 60 yarders in a game because they have 99 power). They fixed all the problems. What's fine for you may be shit for me, and vice versa. I enjoy realism on the field, and not spending days just trying to recruit for my X-Box games. You may enjoy the opposite, nothing wrong with that.

EDIT: I'm not trying to say that Madden 10 was a shit game, I'm just saying that the biggest flaw wasn't the franchise, rather it was the gameplay.

NCAA's Dynasty is TOO in depth. As I said I don't like the idea of spending hours recruiting just to play one game. It kills the fun factor of the game mode. And the last Road to Glory I did was in 2009, and it sucked. I never even got NCAA 10, because it was shit (I played the Demo, which was more then enough for me).

You're right about the downloading player names. I forget about that, mainly because the fact that the NCAA exploits their students for the leagues profit, all the while ignoring the fact that the students spend hours upon hours away from their schoolwork and get no financial gain.

Bull. The flaw WAS the damn Franchise because it was just a continuous exhibition game with a fucking draft after however many games you play. And you can say the run blocking was terrible, but you obviously just couldn't run the ball then cause I know I wasn't alone in being able to rip off 300+ yard rushing games. Shit, Will ran for 150+ every game for sure.

And how the fuck can you call NCAA 10 shit when you never even got the game? That's fucking stupid. That demo showed NOTHING about the NCAA's RtG or Dynasty mode. And yanno, if you don't want to do all the recruiting you can have the computer do it for you. In NCAA 10 you were given an "assistant Coach" and if you set shit up right, he'd do it all for you instead of you wasting your time. Course he wasn't as good as you could be, but he could do it.

You're bitching about shit that should be fixed in a patch, not in a new game.

yes, the run blocking was terrible you fucking moron. How many fucking times do you have a lineman pulling, only to run away from the guy RIGHT IN FUCKING FRONT OF YOU?!?!?!??? EVERY FUCKING TIME! Are you fucking stupid or something? Yes, you can run for yards (I did it too), but that doesn't mean the running game wasn't terribly flawed. I actually had one of the better running teams, in the whole franchise, but since the way I tend to try and play a REALISTIC game of football, I don't rush for 400 yards with my running back.

And how the fuck can you call NCAA 10 shit when you never even got the game? That's fucking stupid. That demo showed NOTHING about the NCAA's RtG or Dynasty mode. I played the demo, the on-field game was shit. The demo is designed to reveal the on-field game to users. No, I never did the Dynasty or RtG, because I couldn't get into the gameplay, since it was beyond terrible. And I never said I don't want to recruit, I just don't want to spend hours upon hours each week just to attempt to get a recruit who may or may not be a good player for me. In the old days, you would spend 1-15 minutes recruiting, then they made all these changes and it took for-fucking-ever to recruit. That made the game a chore, not fun. Games are supposed to be fun, not a chore.

You're bitching about shit that should be fixed in a patch, not in a new game.

No, I hated things that are NOT fixable in a patch, they take entirely new code to fix, which is what 11 is delivering. Yes, they haven't completely overhauled the franchise, because as I said it takes time to do that. It (and superstar) WILL be overhauled for 12, they are already working on it. They are trying to do some patchwork to the franchise mode for this year by adding game-planning, which should be a very welcome addition to the franchise, and they are also fixing the stats and injuries to make them more realistic.

You obviously have no idea what they have done in Madden NFL 11. Click here to read up on it, and realize what they fixed to make it THE BEST, MOST REALISTIC FOOTBALL SIM EVER.

Right "THE BEST, MOST REALIST FOOTBALL SIM EVER" like 10. Fixing the issues with kickers are patch works. They could have patched issues with the run blocking. Your issue is that you want to play realistic and not rip off 400 yard games even though you could. That tells me the system was fine to run in, you just didn't like it.

Madden's on the field was great and instead of fixing its weak point they keep playing with it. THere's no need. NCAA 10 had a weak on the field game but its meat was great, so what do they do? Fix the gameplay. You're not grasping that, at all.

I dont understand the both of you. Some people prefer Madden, some prefer NCAA. They are both football, but really, are apples to oranges, they are a different kind of game. I like NCAA, my roomie / best friend likes Madden. Meh, different strokes to different folks, I dont see what there is to argue about.

Oh, and young Brian, I aw the demo, and watched my broski play it. Fucking amazing. I watched him play as Clemson, and saw them touch Howard's rock and run down the hill.

I love the entrances, although I have to say it aggravates the motherfuck out of me that it continually cuts to the crowd over and over during them

the game looks motherfucking incredible, and smooth though. The fog on the lights from rainy nights looks nuts

Because Madden can say and do whatever they like but the reality of the situation is that they're just taking Madden 10 and adding new rosters and marginal changes. Besides that, its the same game.

Who gives a shit, let the Madden zealots have their re-hash. Its that way every year. The only reason NCAA seems to improve so much every year is becuase the first year was so shit, lulz

I can't for the life of me understand you, Brian. NCAA (in the past) is just as much a re-hash as Madden, yet you claim it is a completely new game every year, and Madden is just a roster update every year. It's a shame you can't realize that, and need to point out the flaws in Madden, yet ignore the flaws in NCAA.

Madden has been rehashes in the past, but this yeah it isn't. The on-field game has been completely overhauled. Did you even READ the link I put in the last post, or did you just ignore it because it proves my point, and proves you wrong. They changed stuff that hasn't been changed in OVER 20 FUCKING YEARS.

Don't let my Madden hype fool you. At least according to the Demo, NCAA is a great game, and I may want to get both this year (since I'm hoping to have a job, I may be able to do so). I still think Madden will be a better game, but NCAA is a strong game, and I'm actually looking forward to playing more of the demo tonight/tomorrow.
