NBA Finals Game 2 LD

One big shot does not make someone good. He is a power forward that is usually shooting under 45% and he gets backed down easily by guys like Anderson fucking Varejao.

Also, his offensive game is 10x better than Ben Wallace, while still giving as much hustle and determination on the floor as Wallace ever gave.
No no no no no. Glen Davis hustles but NOBODY compares to Ben Wallace in that regard. 10X better offensively is also a huge stretch. As a guy who watched Ben Wallace for 7 seasons in Detroit he actually had a solid post game, they just didn't run anything through him because it was unnecessary and not part of their offense. He can't shoot to save his life but nobody's perfect. He at least had a filed goal % around 50 for his time in Detroit.

Not to mention Ben Wallace is 100000000000000X better as a rebounder, shot blocker, and overall defender. Big Ben was also a very underrated passer. Ben Wallace is going to get his jersey retired in Detroit when it's all said and done. Glen Davis will never be anything more then a role player.

I will agree that Wallace > Davis.

Ben Wallace won how many defensive player of the year awards? Those outweigh big baby's offense.

He was comparing their hustle not as overall players. Still Ben Wallace is for my money the best defender/hustle player/rebounder combo in NBA history. And like I said Glen Davis is a role player.

Ben Wallace is shit. He hasn't been relevant in atleast 5-6 years in a discussion of good players.

That's arguable. Very arguable.

But yes, as I said in my post, he hasn't been relevant in a discussion of great players in about something like five years.

I'd like to see you make the argument. Ben Wallace in his prime was the best all around defender/hustle player ever. He was capable of guarding anyone form guards to centers and doing it well. Even at 35 he's still better the Glen Davis.

Big Baby had a bad year this year, but in last and this year's playoffs, he has shown how valuable he is to the Celtics. And yes... that does include his offense. While his post play could use a lot of work, his mid-range shot is not bad, and he's great at putting back offensive rebounds and setting himself up for easy lay-ups whenever Rondo drives to the whole.

Honestly man, if there's anyone you should be criticizing so heavily about this, it's Kevin Garnett, not Glenn Davis. In these playoffs Baby has been a force in the paint. But the great thing about him is that he can also step out and guard people outside the paint, such as he did Lamar Odom last night.

The dude is very important to the Celtics winning a championship this year; I just think you and everyone else are severely underestimating him.

Well, you might have an argument, but still... to me, Big Baby has been looking like Ben Wallace (Wallace in 2004, mind you) out there to me when it comes to hustling. He goes after every ball like it's the last game he'll ever play. Is he as quick and strong as Wallace where more often then not he can retrieve the loose ball? No, but I firmly believe he gives as much effort as Wallace ever gave.

As far as Wallace's offense... I HEAVILY disagree. I always thought he was horrendous on the offensive side of the floor. Good for rebounds, and a decent passed like you said, but I never saw this post game you're speaking of.

Ben Wallace in his prime was the best all around defender/hustle player ever.

Nah, that honor goes to Dennis Rodman. The only category Wallace owns in NBA History is the "Worst Free Throw Shooter of All Time."

Even at 35 he's still better the Glen Davis.

Now that's just a load of shit, man. Ben Wallace was TERRIBLE in Cleveland and Chicago, and he hasn't been relevant since. Big Baby, you know, actually CONTRIBUTES to his team, a PLAYOFF team. Wallace hasn't contributed shit since his last year with the Pistons.

Also, this Big Baby being a "role player" stuff... that's how Ben Wallace was as well: A Role Player. Nothing more.

Like I said he's a fine role player who can come off the bench and bring energy, but people who think he's some future all star and has loads of talent are wrong.

Since the Orlando series he has been better then Garnett but that's not saying much.

I think people severely underestimate the importance of Big Ben. Glen Davis is fine for what he is but he's no Big Ben.

It wasn't seen much because no plays were ever run for him but when the shot clock was winding down and Ben had the ball he had some solid post moves. Nothing spectacular but still a better post game then Davis. Wallace also used to be a guard in college and if need be could put the ball on the floor and drive it to the hoop. The only thing Davis has on Wallace offensively is a jumper.

Nah, that honor goes to Dennis Rodman. The only category Wallace owns in NBA History is the "Worst Free Throw Shooter of All Time."

Rodman has him in rebounding and is on par when it comes to hustling but in no way is he a better defender then Wallace. Big Ben could guard Shaq in the post on one position and then go on the perimeter and guard Kobe the next. He is the best, most versatile defender the game has seen.

I agree Ben Wallace's age and body caught up to him in Chi Town and Cleveland but he had a resurgence this last year in Detroit and had a better year then Davis did.
Also, this Big Baby being a "role player" stuff... that's how Ben Wallace was as well: A Role Player. Nothing more.

LO fucking L. Ben Wallace is a 4 time all star, 4 time defensive player of the year, 3 time All NBA second team, and once on the All NBA third team. Just because a guy doesn't score tons of points doesn't make him a role player.

You are severely overrating Ben Wallace Big Sexy. Severely. The most versatile defender the game has ever seen? Absolutely not. There are quite a few people who were better defenders and more versatile than Wallace ever was, including Rodman, including MJ, including Bill Russell, including KG, including Gary Payton, including Tim Duncan....like I can keep naming names, but I think you get the point. Don't get me wrong, Ben Wallace was an incredible player and defender I was never disputing that, just that he hasn't been very good or relevant in years, which is simply the truth. I also never said Glen Davis was better, just making sure that's clear. But if you're going to tell me he's the greatest defensive player of all time, sorry bro, that's just being WAY too generous to Wallace.

How so? All of those guys you listed were great defenders. Guys like Russell and Duncan and other were better post defenders then Ben and guys like Payton, MJ, Kobe and others were much better defenders on the perimeter. However, none of those guys could do both. Ben could guard Shaq in the post on one possession and then switch off to a guard and do a fine job on the perimeter as well. I'm not saying he could guard Kobe for a whole game but he was a great post defender and a more then formidable guy on the perimeter as well. No other defender in history offered every singe thing that Big Ben could provide.
