Genesis. The PPV had a very limited build. I don't think anyone would argue that. The one draw on it would have been AJ vs. Angle and it's Angle's LAST shot this year.
There's your first problem, thinking people actually cared that this was Angle's "last shot". Especially since Hogan worded it as his "Last shot at AJ STYLE'S title in 2010", which basically told the fans that when AJ loses the belt Angle will get back involved most likely. Seeing as how his contract is nearing it's end, it makes perfect sense for them to want a reason to take Angle off TV for awhile, and this is how they're doing it, by having it appear that he was screwed in more than one match and that Hogan may be involved in it.
Nothing was said about last unless so and so happens. They said last, period. My issue is that this is the third issue of false advertising TNA did at that show.
Oh my god, false advertising in wrestling?!?! Say it isn't so!
Yeah, every wrestling promotion on the face of the PLANET has falsely advertised things KB, the WWE does it constantly with their television matches that are supposed to happen and then never do. They've done it on PPV several times as well.
Hall didn't wrestle because he didn't look right in tights. (To be fair though, that's somewhat outside of TNA's control, but they couldn't have had him in a t-shirt or something?).
This has what to do with AJ Styles and Kurt Angle?
Because he has an upcoming MMA fight to train for, he's going to be on TV alot less now.
There is no reason for that at all.
Again, what does Lashley and Hall have to do with the topic of AJ Styles and Kurt Angle? Oh, right, absolutely nothing. But there are very valid reasons for not having Hall and Lashley wrestle, one because Hall is fucking abysmal in the ring these days and is a junkie joke of a man, and Lashley isn't going to be wrestling much because he has a big MMA fight to train for.
Yes, Anderson is indeed the bigger deal, but if that's the case, why make Abyss vs. Lashley at all? With Lashley they're trying to hook the MMA crowd right?
No, not at all. The guy has been in like three fights. They brought Lashley in because of his wrestling background and his time in the WWE, not for his three fights that nobody saw in the sport of MMA.
Why would a crowd that might have been persuaded to buy the show because of Lashley want to see Anderson instead?
Who the fuck is going to buy that show for Lashley KB? No one. And again, this has WHAT to do with Styles and Angle?
Third, people bought the show to see AJ vs. Angle potentially for the last time.
No, they bought it to see AJ and Angle wrestle. I guarantee you no one bought it because they thought this was legitimately the LAST time Angle and Styles would ever wrestle. But again, with Angle's contract coming close to expiring, what they're doing right now makes perfect sense, you just refuse to acknowledge that.
That's I believe 35 dollars that they paid to see the show and three of the eight matches, all of which were the biggest on the card. I mean seriously, something tells me that Morely vs. Daniels and ODB vs. Tara didn't sell a lot of shows.
What's your point here? More bitching about Genesis? Yeah, it wasn't a great PPV, what's your point here?
So from the perspective of a fan that bought the show and saw Angle lose, how do you think they reacted when they heard that the match they just paid to see is going to be shown for free on television
Right, because obviously it was the exact same match KB right? No. Not at all. Their Impact match was like a grand total of 10 minutes, including commercial breaks. Versus a near FORTY MINUTE match at Genesis. How the fuck is that "the same match"? Seriously? So if Shawn Michaels just beat Bret Hart with a rollup in say five seconds on the Raw after Wrestlemania 12, that would be the same match they had the night before, the 60 minute one?
Do you think TNA fans don't like good wrestling or something? You think anyone was pissed that they were getting to see Styles vs Angle in the main event? You're picking apart shit that absolutely NO ONE besides yourself cares about. The fans don't give a fuck if a match was falsely advertised, what is your point here?
despite them saying it was the LAST time this year it would happen for the title? If I'm a person that buys TNA PPVs, why should I buy another one if I might just get to see the main event, which is the biggest draw of the night in theory, for free four days later?
That's my issue.
Again, you seem to think a match that was roughly ten minutes long and was clipped on television is the same thing as a near 40 minute PPV main event.
You've gone past smarkdom at this point KB. Now you're just looking for something to criticize in everything.
