Damn i never thought I'd have to explain thigns like this to you Sly, but to be fair you did say you didn't see the game.

The ending went like this: Vikings had a bad drive, SF can't run the clock out and a minute later, Favre gets another chance and plays great. That all happened in about three minutes, and there was an odd penalty that took away a touchdown on the next to last drive. It's certainly something that will make the highlight shows. My issue is simple: I want it balanced out. I don't want it ignored that a fairly decent Favre's home fans were booing him for how bad he was playing late in the 4th. As long as that's at least mentioned along with the great (and it was great) drive, I'm all well and good.

And yes, I do have a nonsensical hatred of him. That's part of being a fan. You have nonsensical likes and dislikes of teams and players. There's no reason for me to like the Cowboys but I do. There's no reason for me to dislike Favre but I do. It comes with the territory.

There were times where I questioned where Brett was throwing the ball in that game and yes I saw the entire game. But to be fair our coach is ultra conservative and wasn't calling plays that would allow Favre to use the best of his abilities. He played great the majority of the game. Threw for 300 yards 2 scores and the miraculous game winning pass which half the credit goes to Greg Lewis. But when people were saying he was washed up and couldn't throw deep anymore blah blah he proved all the naysayers wrong. For someone who supposedly gets talked about all the time and hyped up he sure gets no respect from the media. He gets talked about because he is one of the greatest to play the game and he fucked with peoples emotions these last two offseasons. People feel conflicted bc they wanna see him play but theyre mad at him for playing head games although he has a right to make his choices when hes dam well ready. Thats part of being a human being and he over his illustrious career has more than deserved it.

I think its funny that you feel I embarrassed you so much that you had to write out an explanation I already knew. But hey, whatever it takes to avoid the point that I made about how NO other quarterback would receive the negative publicity you want Favre to get.

And yes, I do have a nonsensical hatred of him. That's part of being a fan.
Uh, not it's not. That's part of being a "dumb" fan perhaps, but not a real fan.

I don't care if you dislike Favre, but when you start making stupid comments, expecting him to be held to a higher standard than anyone else, then obviously your biases have gone too far.

I'd be much better with Favre if he would just pick one or the other. Either retire or go to training camp and play. He's done this I believe three times now with the whole I'm not coming back thing. Just go play ball if you want to so badly.

This was supposed to be a Lions appreciation thread. We win 1 game in almost 2 years and in the words of Dave Chappelle as Rick James "It's a celebration bitches." Talk about the Lions greatness because this may be one of the few times all year we can do that.

The Lions are awesome, and the fact that they have the same record as the Steelers is the greatest thing to happen to the NFL outside of the Jets being 3-0 and being the best team in the NFL. If Stafford can start to play decent football (like Mark Sanchez, a fellow Rookie QB), then maybe the Lions can win some games this year. The Lions were great (or greater then the Redskins) today, and hopefully they can be great(er then their opponent) a few more times this season.

--------- Now back on-topic, that being the Packers/Vikings discussion is a "The Detroit Lions" thread-------

-The receiver made a phenomenal catch to win the game, if he didn't come down with it, then everyone would talk about how Favre didn't get the job done when it counts. The receiver made the play, so Favre is a hero.
-Brett Favre is not going to make it the entire season. He is coming off an injury, and is 40/is going to be 40 this season. If the Vikings make the Playoffs this year, it will be with Tavaris Jackson at QB at the end of the season, and he sucks and will get them knocked out in the first round again. They will then draft a QB in the first round of the draft.
-What will get he Vikings into the playoffs this year is their defense (with the PED-using Williams wall on the D-Line) and Adrian Peterson, who is the best running back in the NFL.
Favre's back up was Kellen Clemens last year. Favre with one arm > Kellen Clemens.
-Brett Favre with 1 arm is not better then Kellen Clemens, especially considering the arm that Brett wouldn't have would be his throwing arm, since he had SURGERY on it a month before training camp, and a QB without a throwing arm is pretty useless. Kellen Clemens was nearly competent the year before (AKA 2007) when he was getting annihilated because of a horrendous Jets O-line. Brett Favre can't say that about his performance the end of last season.

and with that, a perfect segue to this...
I was pointing out that there where times when Brady looked lost or put up a bad series...
I guess you mean the entire game against the Jets, right?

now back to the original topic, THE DETROIT LIONS WON A GAME! Maybe they will win the division this year :lmao:.

Sure it is Sly. I don't like the attention Favre gets. I'm sorry if I don't live up to your scientific definition of a fan, but not everyone is as high and mighty as you are so oh well.

I believe fan is short for fanatic. Fanatics don't think rationally if I remember correctly, so unrational hatred of someone does fit the definition of fan, at least the way I'd look at it.

Favre has never been as good as Brady has been. Ever. Favre never put up the kind of numbers Brady did in 2007.

And what do you mean bias? That's a load of horseshit, all week long all over ESPN 24/7 they've been saying "The Pats are dead, Brady isn't as good as he used to be, he's overrated, blah blah blah", I've had to listen to that BS all week long. People can't wait to criticize Brady and the Pats. Guess it's all of that success.

Yeah Brady put up the numbers by running up the score.

Brady is the leagues pet. He has the rings and the model gf yada yada. The NFL loves him. They criticized the Pats after the Jets game bc thats what the media does they jump over everything when after three weeks anything is possible. There are still 13 weeks to play. Favre holds every major record in history over the career. (not counting single season) Brady can have his single season stats for one year cuz over a career Favre is the best ever. Don't give me that shit about how he had to play 18 years to do so either. He played 18 years because he is able to take punishment and keep getting back up. Thats why he now holds the record for consecutive starts as well.

You say that cuz you know hes right and you have nothing else to say and you wanna get out while you still can so you dont look like a fool.

Yeah, cause it's totally fair to compare the career statistics of someone who's played for 7 seasons to someone who's played for 18 fucking seasons. Yeah, that's fair. I guess because Thomas Jones has more career yards than Adrian Peterson, that means he's better as well.

Earlier today Brady became the first QB in NFL history to have 200 TD passes and less than 100 interceptions. Brady has the highest winning percentage of any QB in NFL history. He has 3 Super Bowl rings. How many does Favre have?

Brady is better than Favre ever was. This is statistical fact.

No I say that because it's true. Fans for the most part think irrationally about players and teams. Thanks for telling me what I think though.

Brady vs. Favre isn't a fair comparison at the moment. If Brady wins two or three more rings then it won't even be close.

Trent Dilfer has 1 ring how many does Marino have? There is more to being a good QB than just rings. Not saying Brady sucks, just that there is more to it than rings.

Oh you're right DIAR, but the rings certainly help. Especially when you're the one engineering the last second drive all the way down the field for the kicker to get the FG in two separate Super Bowls. That's more clutch than Favre has ever been.

I'll shut my mouth about Brady now because obviously I sound like a huge homer right now.

True, but in the long run rings > stats most of the time.

The most of the time is for annoying people that will come in and say I'm implying Dilfer over Marino or something. Marino is more or less on another level as far as stats go so it's hard to compare him to others.
