MMA in the Bar room!! *In memorium of JMT and TDigs' thread*

I shit on Dana White when he is in the wrong but he is one of the greatest promoters in the history of sports.

This Mayweather/McGregor fight is going to be huge. It had no right to be done. Mayweather, he got the fight done with Money Mayweather of all people. It's a miracle. It'll be shit fight but it's an event not a fight. That's how I'm looking at it. You don't want to be the one person who missed the biggest event in combat sports history.
Don't care about it at all. So, will surely miss it.

I think it looks worse if mayweather cant put him down. If it goes to decision connor just fucking runs his mouth saying he couldnt beat him and needed the judges

McGregor fans be yapping about boxing when they know fuck all about MMA.

Mayweather wins by stoppage in the later rounds. The press conferences before are going to be so sick.

Apparently a lot of money is being thrown on McGregor at the moment. Can't believe this, McGregor hasn't even fought great fighters in the UFC. Maybe 2 and a half if you're lucky, now he is meant to take down someone who has boxed longer than Conor has been alive and is undefeated.

Huh?

He knocked the greatest featherweight of all time (Aldo) out in 13 seconds.

Eddie Alvarez is the only man to ever hold both UFC and Bellator World Titles and McGregor wrecked him easily.

Connor went toe to toe with Nate Diaz, a warrior and amazing jiu-jitsu artist.

He also beat Max Holloway, ya know, the current featherweight champion of the world.

And Chad Mendes and Dustin Poirier for really good fighters.

So fuck outta here with that shit.

I love Diaz as much as anyone but he is just a warrior. He can take a punch and can land one, as well as being a hell of a BBJ fighter but I don't expect him to take down the best.

Aldo's fight lasted one punch. Not really a fight. Sure the same thing could happen to Mayweather but I wonder how the fight would've gone if Aldo didn't get slept. That's not taking anything away from Conor but hardly an indicator.

Can't take anything away from McGregor in that Alvarez fight. Alvarez was just a fool to play Conor's game.

Max Holloway is a jet, no doubt.

Other two are good but not great. I'll alter my statement to 3 worthy fighters as the Aldo fight I don't count though Aldo is one of the greatest ever and the Diaz fights will go down in history and Nates legacy will be mostly around those fights.

So, McGregor was so good that he beat a guy in 13 seconds that you don't count it?

Like I said, it's no indication on anything apart from Conor's knockout power.

You really consider Conor to be so good that the same result would happen every time against Aldo or that he could just be soo good that he can knockout Aldo whenever he wants? Is a one punch fight a true indication on anything? Anderson Silva or your boy Bones could face the worst fight in the company and if they were to not knock out the guy in the first punch, it definitely would not put them in a class below Conor.

Conor was defeated by Nate but got his rematch as early as possible.

Aldo never got it. And will probably never get it.

That says it all.

Yeah, McGregor lost to Nate. He wanted to prove he could beat Nate so he went straight into the rematch.

Aldo get fucking pumped and made to look like a chump. Zero reason for McGregor to want to fight him again. Impossible for McGregor to ever look better than he already did.

How many MMA fights does Conner have after Floyd? I say one, maybe less.

Trilogy with Nate and then he is done.

So if one fighter wants a rematch after losing then it's fine? But it isn't fine in case of another fighter? That's hypocrisy.

McGregor's following the Mayweather blueprint where it's not about going for the best fight for your résumé, but going for the fight that will give you the biggest paycheck.

That's why this fight in August is going down and why a Diaz trilogy is likely.

Buuuuut I'd still watch an Aldo rematch, think it'd be interesting.

It has a lot to do with HOW they lost.

The situations are not the same.
True.

McGregor's win was more like almost a fluke while McGregor's loss was quite decisive. Aldo deserved a rematch even more by this parameter.

Tgere shouldn't be double standards for rematch. If one champion got a rematch, why not another?

It's not double standards.

The situations were different. This is professional fighting. Not every champion gets a rematch when they lose the belt. You have to take into account how they lost, who is next in line in terms of contenders and what the fans want.

Unless it's a crazy fight most fight fans don't like rematches straight away. People hated the process the Lightweight division went through because it was nothing but rematches for like two years with the same guys fighting multiple times. It caused Pettis to lose and fuck up a super fight for a few years. Nobody is begging for rematches in MMA.

Situations were different indeed. And a rematch for Aldo made more logical sense than a rematch for McGregor. And he still didn't get it. Because McGregor might not be sure that he'll defeat Aldo again. The way McGregor lost, he shouldn't have gotten the rematch. The way Aldo lost, he should've.

But obviously it's McGregor so he'll get away from it like he has been avoiding defending his title.

Guess what you forgot? And guess what I just remembered?

Aldo was offered a rematch when Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of the fight with McGregor. Aldo refused the rematch which opened the door for Nate Diaz.

So this was written before I remembered the point I make up above. It's furthers my point but you don't really need it now.

No, it didn't.

Aldo lost in 13 seconds after HE AVOIDED McGregor by pulling out of the fight. Aldo has a history of getting "hurt" before a major fight and avoiding it. McGregor has a history of fighting whoever they put before him.

The Diaz fight made more sense for a rematch because Diaz took the fight on short notice and pulled off a major upset. People wanted to see that fight again because the first was so awesome. McGregor wanted the fight again because he had only like a week to prepare for Nate Diaz, who is a completely different fighter than McGregor was supposed to fight.

McGregor should have got the rematch with Nate. It was the biggest money fight. People would pay to see McGregor/Aldo II for sure but it wasn't close to what people would spend on McGregor/ Diaz II.

Can't blame Aldo for refusing the rematch on such a short notice.

Regardless of what history both have, rematch should be provided especially after a fluke-like win. I'm not a fan of Aldo either. But UFC does favor McGregor a lot.

Logically and technically, Aldo deserved a title rematch.

Also, about history, remember yourself what happened at UFC 200 with Conor McGregor.

UFC 200 where they cancelled a fight after a fellow Irish MMA fighter (known to McGregor) had died and McGregor didn't want to leave his training camp so soon after. And then a few months later they allowed Ronda to do exactly what Conor had requested.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/early-lead/wp/2016/04/12/conor-mcgregor-mma-fighters-death-after-dublin-match-is-heartbreaking/?utm_term=.2d2b8535ab2d

Forgive the guy for not wanting to go on a fucking press tour after seeing some die very recently.

The rematch was offered. Aldo refused. What's funny is that you said they should've offered Aldo the rematch. Then when I tell you they did, you say it doesn't count because it wasn't enough notice. Well, that's not how professional fighting works. McGregor was ready, he accepted. Aldo ducked him twice. You seem to think Aldo should getting everything he wants, the guy lost in 13 seconds.

Lol what? Are you really going to blindly keep saying that Aldo should get a rematch when the facts show he had a chance, passed on it and that mcgregor is somehow at fault

I never knew about that death. My fault. I apologize.

I'm not blindly supporting Aldo. McGregor got rematch on his own terms, right? Why shouldn't Aldo get the same then?

Also, McGregor is ducking the whole Lightweight Division then? McGregor wasn't READY for Nate Diaz and therefore lost, you saud so. And then he wanted a rematch.

Aldo wasn't ready for McGregor on such short notice. Why not give him regular time for it? Just because he lost in 13 seconds. That's unfair then.

Now why McGregor's ducking Aldo? Or Nurmagomedov? Or Ferguson?

Because he got beat in 13 seconds. Repeatedly pulled out of big time fights and refused to do a rematch with McGregor when offered.

And McGregor didn't get his own terms. The fight he had been set for was at 155. He fought Nate at 170. That was so Nate could make weight. McGregor NEVER fought on his own terms against Nate.

Also, McGregor is ducking the whole Lightweight Division then? McGregor wasn't READY for Nate Diaz and therefore lost, you saud so. And then he wanted a rematch.

No, he's fighting the biggest star in the history of PPV. He can have 1 fight with Mayweather and retire. He has a child and a finance. He is looking out for them. Fuck fairness. This is business and I sport anyone who can provide for their family like McGregor is going to do. They will be set for life.

Aldo wasn't ready for McGregor on such short notice. Why not give him regular time for it? Just because he lost in 13 seconds. That's unfair then.

BUT MCGREGOR TOOK THE FIGHT!

That's the difference. He fought Nate, a situation where NOTHING was in favour of McGregor and once he lost he got a rematch because he stepped the fuck up for the UFC at the final hour.

Aldo bitched out like he always does. That's the difference.

Now why McGregor's ducking Aldo? Or Nurmagomedov? Or Ferguson?

Not ducking Aldo. Agreed to fight him THREE fucking times. Aldo found a way out of two of them. McGregor no longer in that division. Can't duck someone who isn't in your division and that you already beat.

Nurma is always hurt. Hasn't earned a title shot without multiple fights without pulling out.

Ferguson or Mayweather. Yeah. I know which one I'd fight.
