MMA in the Bar room!! *In memorium of JMT and TDigs' thread*

10-9 Diaz. The clutch takedown to take the round at the last second I believe should get Nate round 5.

48-47 Nate Diaz wins. It's the second round. If McGregor got that I believe he's won this fight but if Nate stole it after getting knocked down than I think Nate wins the fight.

Edit: I gave Nate 2, 3 and 5. McGregor 1 and 4. Great fight which could go either way and wouldn't be a screwjob.

What the fuck says Nate. Close fight, not upset at all that one judge scored it a draw. Hopefully down the line we see a 3rd fight, but Connor needs to defend at 145 for a while.

Really interested in seeing the scorecards for the main event. Likely it's the second round which fucked Nate over. McGregor had the perfect plan for Nate with those hard leg kicks. If Nate can adjust and get the fight to the ground earlier I think a third fight would be very interesting.

Conor needs to defend his belt before number 3 with Nate, or vacate it.

That card tonight was worth every damn penny. 3 weeks till Punk finally makes his debut (assuming he doesn't get hurt or fail a USADA test, which would kinda be hilarious)

Could someone tell me exactly how judges score fights that go the distance?

It's something I've been wondering because I've seen some fights where the decisions have left me confused.

They go round by round so at the end of it you add up each round and you get your winner. It is quite amazing how the judges come to some of the decisions they do.

J. The following objective scoring criteria shall be utilized by the judges when scoring a round:

i. a round is to be scored as a 10-10 round when both contestants appear to be fighting evenly and neither contestant shows clear dominance in a round;

ii. a round is to be scored as a 10-9 round when a contestant wins by a close margin, landing the greater number of effective legal strikes, grappling and other maneuvers;

iii. a round is to be scored as a 10-8 round when a contestant overwhelmingly dominates by striking or grappling in a round.

iv. a round is to be scored as a 10-7 round when a contestant totally dominates by striking or grappling in a round.

In reality though this never happens, because fans want to see winners, and scoring a 10-10 round often ends up creating draws. The 10-10 works better in boxing when you usually have an even number of rounds and there are more of them, but in MMA it creates ties and we don't believe in tie games in America.

Like I said, it was round 2 that cost Nate. I gave him that round because even though he got knocked down he came on strong during the final minute. Judges usually have short memories and if you unleash towards the end of the round you've got a solid shot at stealing it. Right decision and the 10-8 for round 3 in favour of Diaz was likely the correct scoring for the round. One of the few times when a draw would have been a good decision.

Condit can fuck off to Bellator or retirement. He screwed everything up by "beating" Nick Diaz back in the day, lost to Johny Hendricks, who has suddenly become really shit since the new drug testing policies came in, and didn't beat Woodley. Oh and he beat Rory with like 10 seconds left on the clock which was total bullshit. Condit has done nothing but win when I wanted him to lose and lose when I needed him to win.

Hope Maia goes full God mode and taps him this week.

This time, your wish is granted. :thumbsup:

Joanna would ruin Paige and likely send her into retirement. The kick was nice but Joanna is the best striker in MMA and it'll be a savage beat down like never before if the UFC is stupid enough to put a potentially mega star like Paige inside the cage with Joanna.

To earn a title shot, Paige would have to defeat Gadelha too which I am doubtful about. She has expressed desire to fight in November-December this year.

No, she doesn't have to beat Gadelha. If Paige can beat Carla Esparza she has a legit claim to being the rightful number one contender. I don't think they'll give her that fight but it's the way to go if you want Paige in the title hunt right now.

Personally I would go with something like this for the division.

Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs. 2 Karolina Kowalkiewicz

1 Claudia Gadelha vs. 4 Rose Namajunas

5 Tecia Torres vs. 8 Valerie Letourneau

6 Jessica Andrade vs. 7 Joanne Calderwood are the already booked to fight.

9 Maryna Moroz vs. 10 Paige VanZant

---

Andrade/Calderwood winner gets Carla Esparza in the title eliminator for the next shot at Joanna after she wrecks Karolina.

Claudia/Rose winner likely gets Karolina after she gets beaten in the title fight.

Torres/Letourneau winner faces the winner of Moroz/VanZant. The winner of that fight faces the winner of Claudia/Rose vs. Karolina in the next title eliminator after Joanna vs. Andrade/Calderwood/Esparza.

Could Joanna, if she wipes the Straw Weight division much like Rousey did pre-Holm fight, would she be considered better than Rousey, or is her lack of drawing power going to hurt her? Also, I think she can easily lay claim to being a Top 5 Pound For Pound Fighter in the whole UFC.

Rashad Evans to 185. I'd care more if it was 2008-2011.

Joanna is a better fighter than Ronda Rousey. Joanna has proven to be able to handle elite ground games and she is already the best striker in MMA. Rousey has nowhere near the striking of Joanna but her ground game is better than Joanna. When Joanna went up against an elite ground game in her last fight she won after being down 0-2 on the scorecards. When Rousey went up against someone with elite striking she got knocked out within two rounds. They're both elite in different aspects of MMA but when they faced their weaknesses Joanna won and Rousey has been on the shelf for a year.
