MMA in the Bar room!! *In memorium of JMT and TDigs' thread*

I know this is his first failed PED test, but it's the cocaine, the traffic issues, the general attitude he has toward his fame. He fucks up in a lot of aspects. If this was just a one off failed test, then yeah suspend him and let him fight his way back to the top like everyone else. He fucks up too often overall to keep getting chances, that's my point.

I know you're well informed, Yaz. It's every article in the media that washes over the fact that Jones was found to have not intentionally taken a PED before UFC 200.

There is without a doubt a narrative being built right now that Jones' entire career can be questioned because of a single failed drug test. If it had actually been 2 or better yet 3, like some outlets present in this misinformed MMA articles, than I'd be right here with you. The fact is, Jones failed 1 drug test for a PED after spending the better part of two years on the sideline with a single fight as a buffer.

I don't see how we can question his entire career off that one failure.

Yeah I have mixed feelings on that move. Given the circumstances I don't think it's the wrong move exactly, but way to make DC look like even more of a paper champ.

It makes sense and it's the right move. Jones failed the drug test before the fight. As a result the fight should have never happened and if the fight hadn't happened then Cormier would have been champ. I understand Cormier has technically lost to Jones twice, but it says a lot that Jones felt the need to take steroids in order to beat a 38 year old Cormier the 2nd time.

Love D.C. Back as champion. He's not my favourite fighter but everyone saw his heart and passion for UFC after that loss to Jon Jones, he shouldn't be stripped of the title because he fought someone who cheated. He never lost the belt go DC. Let's just hope Gus is next in line and can take home the gold.

Daniel Cormier has been reinstated as the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.

I think I'm going to vomit.

Get off Jones' dick dude, I did. It's not gonna happen anymore, he is still the BEST I have seen as long as I have watched UFC and it's a crying shame. This is a business where your tenure matters with age and Jones has just failed to curb his lack of good judgement, the excesses of fame and a piss poor team around him that don't keep themselves upto speed with what he is supposed to put in his body which is a very vital part of the UFC, something all fighters on the roster take care of.

Now I think I'm gonna vomit.

I have no issue with Jones being stripped of the title. That's fine and absolutely the correct move.

I'm going to vomit because DC is champion again and we have to deal with his smug ass smile parading around with the title. My reaction is 90% dislike of DC with very little having anything to do with Jones. I can't stand DC. I dislike him more than Anderson! Gus is the only hope this division has to end this reign.

SAVE US GUS!

Even I like Jon Jones more but it's not like Daniel Cormier doesn't deserve the title. Right decision for the title.

I don't get why the title wasn't made vacant and held up for a fight between Cormier and the number 1 contender. That being said I guess Athletics rewards runners up based on drug tests years down the line.

Mainly due to the result being changed from a loss to a no contest for DC. It's like the fight never happened and therefore DC would still be the champion.

:lmao:

As bad as MMA judges are at least shit isn't rigged in UFC like we've seen in the biggest boxing fight tonight. A draw when Triple G clearly won? We have bad decisions but boxing has rigged decisions, clearly the fix was in for a rematch between the two.

In other news, hopefully Rockhold beats Branch tonight. I need a Rockhold/Bisping rematch.

And if it is not rigged, it was yet another example of how the insidious fallacy that "Floyd Mayweather is the greatest ever" has gone a long way to ruining boxing.

Fight on the back foot throughout, get trapped on the ropes a few times but escape and somehow win 10 of 12 rounds despite not landing a meaningful punch.

Being the aggressor should not meaning everything, but it should mean a lot more than being the one who is running away.

Shogun drops out, sad times, but it gives us the return of one a favourite of mine as Yushin Okami will compete in the UFC again! Should've never been released when he was and the story of Mother Sonnen nearly shooting Okami is still hilarious.

War Yushin! He's fighting Ovince Saint Preux in like five days with basically no prep.

If that Brendan Schaub guy was right about anything, it was what would happen if GGG outboxed Canelo. He called a controversial decision by the judges. Canelo's got the right people around him. Really bad start to this new era in boxing.

Oh man Yushin was one of my guys. You're right, he should have never been given the boot to start. The Thunder is back.

Calling a controversial decision in a big fight is no real prediction any more unfortunately.

The fact that Canelo's own promoter not only called the 118-110 card 'shocking' but also only had his fighter winning 115-113 probably tells you that GGG should have won rather handily.

I would suggest that pro-boxing should take a cue from the amateur ranks and have more judges per fight, which would water down the impact of such a rebel scorecard.

Edmond Tarverdyan was on the MMA hour and wants one more fight for Ronda Rousey... against Cris Cyborg.

Worst MMA coach of all time!

If GSP loses against that SOB Bispen then all is wrong with the world. Both will probably retire after the fight seeing who is waiting in line next.

I think he is probably just trying to leverage more from WWE. Rousey isn't a good loser and two straight time getting her head knocked off killed her confidence and her aura. There are still people who care, but I don't think most MMA fans care about her at this point.

That said, I can't see the UFC passing on a freak show fight like this while she still has name value.

Pretty much. I think the mainstream media still give her a lot of attention and will continue to, probably because there's never been a female fighter like her. But yeah, MMA fans are done with her for the most part, mainly because of the way she handled her loss. Lack of media appearances, no post fight interviews with Rogan, nothing.

Unrelated but I can't wait for 217, although everytime I'm this excited for a card someone always pulls out!

Okami never tapped! Absolute warrior, went out cold with his eyes open rather than tapping. Give him another run in the UFC!

Jéssica Andrade looked amazing... speaks to how fucking incredible Joanna is that she dealt with her easily. Joanna is just on another level.

Edit: USADA gotta look at Andrade after this fight though.
