The Pro Wrestling Torch is reporting that Rob Van Dam's contract with World Wrestling Entertainment will be expiring at the end of this summer. The six month mark came last week where he had to indicate to the company if he wanted the contract to automatically renew. According to sources, RVD opted to stop the auto-rollover, meaning he has to renegotiate his deal and renew or else he will become a free agent starting in September of 2007.

In regard to details of his current deal with WWE, he was estimated as being under a downside guarantee of around $400,000 a year. He earned that much while sitting out with an injury (which was said to be around $7,500 per week). When he returned from injury, he changed his payment method based on the shows he worked thinking he would earn more per week that way. Instead, a wide range of payments followed. With ECW not drawing well by itself for House Show and PPV events, RVD's weekly paychecks saw a dramatic decrease. In the end however, it didn't really matter since at the end of the contract year he will end up receiving a "make-good" check for however short his combined weekly pay was.

It should be noted that RVD is currently running the risk of WWE not offering him a downside guarantee as high as they had previously agreed on by not letting his contract roll over. One main reason he is considering leaving WWE right now, which isn't big news for those who have followed the story, is that he is unhappy with the current direction of ECW and how it has been portrayed creatively. While sources close to RVD say he values money, he also takes pride in his work and hasn't felt good about it lately. This is why it is very possible he could accept less money to jump to TNA and work fewer dates. With top stars such as Sting earning around $500,000 per year in TNA, it is believed that TNA could offer RVD a deal for around $250,000. While that is a significant decrease from what he was earning in WWE, in turn he would work fewer dates per month and have more creative satisfaction with his role. The only downside would be burning a bridge with WWE should he want to return in the future.

At 37 years old, sources close to Rob Van Dam say he may do one of three things: allow his deal with WWE to expire and jump to TNA, re-sign with WWE because the money is better or allow WWE to retain his intellectual property rights and sit on that for a year or two before making a decision about his wrestling career. Either way, we will continue to follow this situation as it develops.

Johnny Nitro is apparently in the WWE doghouse because of his ongoing real life relationship with Melina. Melina has heat dating back to her days in Smackdown, and has done nothing to improve her reputation. Despite their current standing in the company, WWE recognizes their main event act potential.

Ric Flair's RAW promo on Carlito was something of a shoot. Both Carlito and Shelton Benjamin are viewed as superstars with a lack of drive and passion, unwilling to go the extra mile. Agents have tried to motivate Carlito, but thus far he simply hasn't responded.

Jim Ross and Gerald Brisco have been complaining lately about the lack of recruiting by WWE and that the quality of athletes is nowhere near the level it was a few years ago. Vince McMahon told John Laurinaitis to hire a full-time recruiter of college and pro level athletes. They are mostly going to be looking at football players and college wrestlers. Laurinaitis has hired a recruiter that used to work with the XLF, but so far nobody new has been signed. We do know that lots and lots of models have been signed recently.

There is a rumor that rapper Timbaland will perform live at WrestleMania 23.

WWE.com has added an article with Dusty Rhodes talking about his inclusion in the Hall of Game. Rhodes says both his sons, Cody and Dustin will be inducting him.

The USA Network has topped the prime time basic cable networks for the sixth consecutive week. RAW was the top rated two hours of the entire week. RAW pulled 5.98 million viewers for the second hour of the February 5th edition and 5.71 million viewers for the opening hour.

Super Crazy's win over Johnny Nitro on RAW two Monday ago, which wouldn't have been dreamed about three weeks ago, is not only due to his minor push as of late, but also because Johnny Nitro happens to be in the doghouse due to his relationship with Melina. Although, Melina's really the one in the doghouse. Melina had heat on her when she moved over to RAW last spring due to her reputation on SmackDown, and apparently, she hasn't done too much to change her reputation. So well, while Melina's in the doghouse, Nitro may be doing jobs to some wrestlers he wouldn't have been losing to a few months ago. Interestingly, J.R. went out of his way to praise Nitro during his match with Super Crazy, since he was the one who was losing. This was opposed to burying him as the booking has been doing.

Candice Michelle has relaunched her official website at CandiceMichelle.com. It looks really high-tech.

John Cena will be appearing on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson tonight at 12:35 a.m. ET. on CBS. He's promoting the recent release of The Marine DVD.

It's being said that The Big Show turned down two specific WWE deals. He rejected the first, which carried a price tag in the ballpark of his current $1 million/year deal, due to the fact that it required him to wrestle. The wrestler feels physically burned out, and he has no desire to commit to a long-term contract with required in-ring work.

WWE also offered Big Show a smaller (but still financially large) deal for his "intellectual property rights," which is essentially a fee to keep Show at home and prevent him from joining a competitor. He rejected that as well, although sources say he has no immediate intentions to join TNA.

Jim Ross has added two new blogs at JRsBarBQ.com. J.R.'s blogs are a great read and I've personally enjoyed them ever since he started doing them on his official website.

Lon sent this in: All this week Kane and Ashley were filming a episode of Smallville. If you go to www.kryptonsite.com they some pictures of them with Tom Welling who plays Clark Kent and Erica Durance who plays Lois Lane. The episode called "Combat" is slated to air March 22. Just thought you guys would like to know.

Craig Cope sent this in: During the 7 AM hour of CNNs 'The Daily Buzz' (on Thursday) morning, they mentioned, while doing the news headlines, the fact that The Donald's hair could be shaved off due the challenge he made to Vince McMahon for a match at Wrestlemania 23. They said it all started when Vince claimed that The Donald stole the catch phrase "You're Fired" from him.

IGN.com has posted the trailer for the new WWE Films project "The Condemned" starring Stone Cold Steve Austin. Say what you want (good or bad) about WWE Films, but the trailer for this film is very well done and it looks very promising.

Jeff N. sent this in: At about 9:30am, I did a search for 2 tickets for Wrestlemania 23 on Ticketmaster.com, and there were tickets available in section 211. The tickets available were $150 a piece.

Alan McCree sent this in: WWE is coming to my hometown of Toledo, Ohio on March 25th for a 2:00 show. One of the matches listed is for the WWE Tag Team Championship. They have listed in the commercial that it will be Rated RKO Edge and Randy Orton facing Cryme Tyme for the titles. I don't know if this is an error or something coming in next few weeks!

Devin Cutting sent this in: WWE has announced the dates for the next 18 pay-per-views. Here are the dates: No Way Out - February 18, 2007, WrestleMania 23 - April 1, 2007, Backlash - April 29, 2007, Judgment Day - May 20, 2007, One Night Stand - June 10, 2007, Vengeance - June 24, 2007, Great American Bash - July 22, 2007, SummerSlam - August 26, 2007, Unforgiven - September 16, 2007, No Mercy - October 7, 2007, Cyber Sunday - October 28, 2007, Survivor Series - November 18, 2007, December To Dismember - December 2, 2007, Armageddon - December 16, 2007, New Year's Revolution - January 6, 2008, Royal Rumble - January 27, 2008, No Way Out - February 17, 2008, WrestleMania 24 - March 30, 2008.

Candice Michelle has a new WWE.com blog up where she talks about Melina stealing her finisher. Check out the blog at WWE.com.

WWE.com has video up of Brian Kendrick and Paul London saying that their ring entrance was inspired by the Ultimate Warrior.

WWE's new ECW Extreme Rules DVD debuted #1 on the latest Billboard Recreational Sports DVD Sales chart. Meanwhile, TNA's Bound for Glory 2006 DVD debuted at #6.

forums.wrestlezone.com has confirmed that TNA secured their promoters' license for the state of Kentucky, and have a house show scheduled for 4/20 at the Louisville Gardens in Louisville, KY.

Jim Ross is back with a new blog. Here are some highlights: On WSX: "I watched a little bit of WSX recently, but it was late at night as in a repeat broadcast. I thought the wrestlers worked hard but the pace of the show sort of had me scratching my head as to what I had just seen when the show ended. A slower pace would have suited me better but remember that I am not in this show’s target demo any longer either." MySpace: "I have no plans for a myspace account." On Keibler: "If you don’t see Stacey Keibler updates on www.wwe.com it is likely because her publicist isn’t sending the WWE the press releases with all the necessary info. I don’t think any one is overly angry at the other in this relationship." ROH: "No, I will not be at ROH on March 30, as Wrestlemania activities and all the various interactive fan functions I hope to be involved with will have me PLENTY busy Wrestlemania weekend." Bashams: "Their time may come again in the WWE." DirecTV/WWE 24/7: "I am told that DirecTV technically cannot handle WWE 24/7, but please don’t ask me the technical question as to why." Monty Brown: Monty Brown, now known as Marcus Cor Von, has great natural athletic abilities. I see no reason why Cor Von can't be a huge star, if he will dedicate himself to thoroughly learning his craft and making sure he gets better every day. For this athlete it is all about the mental side of the game and that matter can only be addressed in time. Cor Von, not unlike any young WWE Superstar, cannot reach his goals, however devoting only 4 days a week to his vocation. That means watching tapes and DVDs of the greats when one is off the road. Study, Study, Study.

As noted earlier, Rob Van Dam's contract is set to expire at the end of the summer and he has turned down an auto-renewal, meaning the contract won't rollover for another year. He and WWE will now have to negotiate a new deal, otherwise he will become a free agent.

The Big Show is still not expected to return to WWE anytime soon and has turned down several contract renewal offers from them.

As announced on RAW this week, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes will be inducted into WWE's hall of fame on 3/31. No other names have been confirmed by the company, but we can now confirm that RAW announcers Jim Ross and "The King" Jerry Lawler will also be inducted into the hall of fame this year. No question, both deserve the invitations. The Wild Samoans - Afa and Sika have been contacted, and one would assume they will also be apart of the 2007 hall of fame class.

The special Thursday night edition of Raw featuring the Donald Trump-Vince McMahon Wrestlemania stipulation announcement, scored a 3.0 cable rating.

As noted earlier, last night's airing of TNA iMPACT! took a huge hit in the ratings as the show drew a 0.59 rating going head-to-head with a special Thursday night airing of WWE RAW.

Ken Patera has signed on with Jakks for a Classic Superstars action figure

Tickets for TNA's April 15th PPV Lockdown in St. Louis, Missouri at the Family Arena went on sale this morning at 10am CST. Mike Johnson reports that around 400 fans in total showed up at the box office to purchase tickets for the event and the autograph signing which consisted of Christian Cage, Eric Young and Christy Hemme. The first person in line had been there since 7pm last night. So far tickets for the event seem to be selling very well. I logged on to Metrotix.com at around 11:15am EST this morning to see what was left and rows 1-7 on the floor were already sold out. As it stands right now the $150, $120 and $60 seats are gone. Here is a seating chart that shows the set up for the event. If you close on the bottom right corner it states that the total capicity for the show with this setup is 9,249 people. This is close triple the amount of people that last October's Bound for Glory PPV in Detroit, MI drew at the much smaller Compuware Arena.

Mike Johnson is reporting that there is talk of doing a Mick Foley vs Umaga match at Wrestlemania 23.

As noted earlier, Jim Ross and Jerry 'The King' Lawler will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. However, WWE has yet to officially announce this, but they most certainly will within the next few weeks on RAW. There are six more editions of WWE RAW to go until WrestleMania 23. WWE will be announcing a new entrant, or entrants if they are part of a group or tag team, each week on RAW during the ensuing weeks. If you add Ross & Lawler in, that leaves four spots left.

The tag team of Afa & Sika is a lock to go in considering that WWE recently called them about it. Two other likely entrants are The Shiek and the Von Erich family. One of the reasons that Sabu wasn't fired back in the fall when he probably would have been was because they wanted him to induct The Shiek into the HOF this year. Also, The Shiek was a native of Detroit, the site of this year's WrestleMania. Kevin Von Erich is currently on board with WWE for two projects. He hosts a World Class Championship Wrestling show on WWE 24/7 with Michael Hayes. Also, WWE plans on releasing a DVD on the WCCW this September, The Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling. This deal would be similar to last year's deal with Verne Gagne and the subsequent AWA DVD release.

Dave Meltzer is reporting that the Fit Finlay vs. Boogeyman match shedualed for No Way Out is now Finlay & Little Bastard vs. Boogeyman & Mini Boogeyman. Mini Boogeyman will be played by a local independent midget wrestler.

Despite what some people may think, Chris Benoit is not injured. He is simply being held off of television because WWE did not have a match for him at Sunday’s No Way Out pay-per-view. Since there was no match for him, company officials felt that there was no reason to write him in on SmackDown. UPDATE: Just moments after we posted this we learned that Chris Benoit has been added to the PPV although his opponent is unknown at this time.

For the first time ever all three WWE weekly programs (RAW, SmackDown, and ECW) were the top rated shows for their respective networks this past week

Vince McMahon has become very fond of JBL as WWE now flies the SmackDown announcer on Air McMahon after shows and he is one of the most influential people in the company. This is all because Vince McMahon respects the fact that JBL has made a success of himself outside of wrestling.

As noted before here on the site, Dusty Rhodes is now a member of the ECW creative team. The move to transfer Rhodes from SmackDown was at the request of Dave Lagana because he felt with Michael Hayes handling the majority of the work for SmackDown; there wasn

As noted earlier here on the site, there is talk of doing a Mick Foley vs. Umaga match at Wrestlemania 23. We'll keep you posted here on the site so stay tuned.

Candice Michelle, Ashley Massaro, Layla El and Kristal Marshall are all headed to Las Vegas for NBA All-Star weekend to hit the top parties and make gossip news in the city.

Brooke Hogan will be in the National Enquirer and STAR over the next week.

The Belleville News-Democrat out of Missouri has published an article speaking about WWE WrestleMania AXXESS tour coming to town next weekend. Ron Simmons, Hillbilly Jim, Mark Henry, Lance Cade, and Trevor Murdoch are all scheduled to appear.

ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley and CM Punk were both scheduled for autograph signings in Connecticut and New York this weekend, but the appearances have been canceled due to local weather conditions.

--ECW Extremist Hardcore Holly is in much need of elbow surgery; therefore Snitsky has been inserted into the feud with Bobby Lashley.

--WWE is interested in brining more Hispanic wrestlers into the company since the recently growth among their demographic popularity. So far they are looking at Shocker, Mistico, and Perro Aguayo Jr. Shocker previously did work in TNA.

As reported earlier, Andrew 'Test' Martin is off house shows after violating the WWE Wellness Policy. There had been several people wondering about how he was even passing the tests in the first place since his return to WWE in June. As it turns out, WWE does indeed play favorites. Many wrestlers in WWE would be highly suspect for failing Wellness tests, but certain people are looked over. Don't expect anyone in a high position for WrestleMania to fail one anytime soon.

Test was very upset about doing jobs to Bobby Lashley at TV & PPV and he let Vince McMahon know about it. He was suddenly put on suspension and many feel that he was only suspended due to being a disgruntled employee that had spoken out.

Also, the new idea is to only pull the person from house shows in an attempt to keep things quiet.

Robin Leach of "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" fame will be playing host for part of the weekend to four WWE Divas: Ashley, Kristal, Candice and Layla. Leach said so in his column. The four girls are hitting the NBA All-Star Game parties in Las Vegas this weekend. WWE.com also has more on them in Vegas in this week's edition of Diva Dish.

There is talk of doing a Mick Foley vs Umaga match at Wrestlemania 23. Foley would assume his 'Cactus Jack' persona for the match.

Amy 'Lita' Dumas has opened up her own personal MySpace page at myspace.com/therealamydumas.
