Breaking News: King Booker Quits.

And, what if the "former World Champion" that TNA is bringing in is none other than Booker T and this deal has been hatching behind the scenes for weeks. And what name would he use? All names he has used so far are owned by WWE now.

If this were the case, I would hate saying this, but this would prove my belief and the belief of many others that Vince McMahon owns some portion of TNA.

i highly doubt we would see booker t if ever in TNA..esp right away..you know how those contracts work..you know how vince mcmahon works..comment early about wwe being a sinking ship..we've heard that one millions of times..its not a sinking ship its called just going through a rough time like any other business does..there down on stars..it happens.it just gives them the chance to create new ones..so look at the positive outlook of it...from booker t's perspective unless he still has a raging passion to wrestle i doubt he will go to TNA...the man is set for life outside of the ring and that is what matters in the end....he's been talking about retiring for some time now also so you know how that goes...regardless of the situation he is more open to returning to the wwe then ever seeing his face in another promotion..we all know when you leave the wwe its never a gurantee ull stay away...

Yea but the schedule is light and like they say, when you come into the wrestling business your in it for life. Besides, if he was still wrestling in WWE even after they treated him like shit for years he must love the business. I mean they did give him 1 big belt, but for someone like him its still only 1! And HHH was treating him like shit and was the only reason he was a lower mid carder on raw and never got the title on there.

well as of right now the schedule is light...Tna is about to go 2 hours thought which is a process to get bigger and stronger...eventually this so called light schedule has a possiblity of disappearing...when you come into wrestling your in it for life..in some ways that statement can be true..even after years they treated him like shit? the man was put into main event storylines, he's worked with the finest in the company, he's been heavyweight champ etc...regardless of how many title reigns it is or isnt it shouldnt matter to a man like booker t..you mean politics were being played..regardless of what brand he was on he was given the ball and he ran with it and he has done what he has needed..he has accomplished enough in his career for him to be satisfied...

Yes he had a great career, but in wwe even when he was given good storylines, titles, ect, he was always treated by vince and HHH as someone they defeated and owned. They would think, weel we beat wcw and he was one of their main stars, so lets prove we are dominant and keep him down. they used him as and example and he never deserved that, he deserved to be a top star right along with HHH, Lesnar, Cena, and Rock, not pushed down into lower mid card status. and we both know the only reason he won the big title is because batista was injured, the rey "Dream" had gotten stail, and because it was smackdown, the b show, and not the a show which was raw.

Here's my honest opinions on this;

Personally I would love to see King Booker in TNA although it would make me feel even more that I'm just watching the WWE, but with how low professional wrestling currently is, I'm desperate to see ANYTHING happen just for a good shake up in the industry or to force the WWE to actually put their thinking caps on.

In the reality side where many chose not to discuss is the fact TNA is now holding drug tests (well, in the upcoming weeks) and how would it effect TNA's reputation to hire a name that left after being furious for being suspended for 60 days due to drug issues?

I remember reading back in 2002 that Booker was planning on retiring in 2 - 3 years which now it's 5 years. I'd say that TNA would love to bring him in and would make an offer that would catch the king's interest, however the drug issue seems to put the king out for good as long as Congress is on professional wrestling's end of the ass.

This is terrible news for the W.W.E. I understand a lot of people may not care, or like the "King Booker" gimmick, but Booker T. is by far a great in-ring performer, & will be a huge loss on this already weakened roster.

The statement indicates that Booker quit after being told he'd be the 60 day suspended Superstar. I think in a ways, thats childish on Booker's behalf, as every other suspend star is taking it.. just because he has to live with an additional 30 days more, doesn't mean he wouldn't of been a big star on his return. If anything, they were seemingly about to bury him to Triple H. anyway.. so him taking a 60 day leave would've HELPED him stay above water against the likes of Triple H.

I'm glad that Booker T. can survive in life without the world that built him half way to that good life, but that doesn't mean that I respect his childish reply to the suspension. I'm more or less shocked that Booker actually, seemingly quit. But I guess I shouldn't be.. they've been reporting Booker wanting a bigger role behind the scenes & I'm sure he didn't get it, & his Wife publicly stated they'd be set without wrestling, so she didn't care if they stayed or left.

All in all.. I can only hope he goes to T.N.A., just so this isn't how he ends his career.. but regardless, he'll greatly be missed.

urm i hope you all realise this is only a rumour and its not necissarily fact, and anyway tbh i think its smart of him to get out of a company under fire at the moment, especially if hes got his own promotion, and so doesnt want a backlash because of his association with wwe

This blows. Booker was a hell of alot better wrestler then a bunch of guys I can name (Batista, Khali, Cena) even at 42. I knew him going to raw was a bad decision and now he fucking quits. I truly wouldn't want to see him go to TNA either, as he'll just be a push of the month and then a midcarder for angle to squash.

I gotta go out to Houston sometime and catch one of his PWA shows I guess.

you make it seems as though being associated with the WWE is what may cause a negative backlash against him....you fail to scknowledge that he is associated with illegal steroids....he brought his own negative publicity upon himself. You mention that it is only a rumor but considering that he has had a rocky relationship with the WWE the last few months I would be suprised at all if this was in fact true....

Vince owns a part of TNA? First I've heard that one. However, to burst your bubble, if WWE owned any portion of another promotion that info would be a matter of public record as well as to the shareholders (of which I am one).

This is awesome, I'm so glad to see a guy stick to his guns on people screwing with his name or character. Booker T is great. Here is a guy that came in to WWE, was buried immediatly, and rose back up to main event level after all of that.

People like to say he bitches and moans, yet the same people constantly bitch and moan about the WWE. So what, it's okay if you bitch and moan, but if a guy in the company bitches and moans, then it's not? Come on, this guy is doing what most people on here are afraid to do.

Booker is tired of the WWE treating him like a second class citizen, so he quit, good for him. Now if the same people that complain about the WWE didn't watch it, it might get a point across, but yet, you're hooked.

The way this was phrased really made it sound as if the WWE was the "bad guys" for suspending Booker for failure of a drug testing for a second time that resulted in a 60 day suspension. My question is who is the wrong one here; Booker for being hooked onto drugs or WWE for suspending the king?

Of course he went through ups and downs in the beginning when he entered the WWE but wasn't immediately pushed only due to his former employer which sometimes I find it ironic when other promotions does that. Other than it taking Booker 4 years (little too long) to win the title finally and having to go through some lows in the beginning, I don't see how in the past couple years King Booker was treated, as you said, a "second class citizen". Only things that were lows for Booker was A.) WWE not using his promotion B.) having Trips go over at 'Slam, even though that's what happens for "big returns" C.) The new Wellness Policy rules D.) Getting suspended for 60 days on poor life choices.

I really felt as if you made some inaccurate points and some important points chose not to view that would make Booker look bad and make WWE look good because we can't have the WWE look good at all, ironically :glare:

In all honesty I'm glad that Booker's going. He was believing his own hype and getting a big head and honestly the WWE needs to lose those types of people as soon as they can. The sooner they get rid of all the current "big" name draws the sooner they can move in some new blood and fresh talent and bring the company back to the way it was with the Rock, Stone Cold, and HHH before their egos got to the point where they were all about themselves. Once they do that all they'll have to do is throw the banned moves list out the window so they can start teaching their talent how to perform good matches in the ring again without having to rely completely on hype.

Bad for the WWE roster but a very smart move by Booker. Like many others I would love to see him join TNA to show that he has a lot to offer, but I wouldn't disagree with him if he chooses to focus on other tasks he has going on.

I hope we do not see a trend here of a lot of guys quitting. If WCW was still around, you would probably have a lot of guys leaving. I don't think TNA can offer guys the kind of money WWE has.

If Booker can make it outside the ring with his businesses, good for him. He's a talented guy who's being wasted.

I don't care that he's gone. His gimmick was annoying, though he was a great talent. But this is a crybaby move, quitting because he broke the rules. All this means now is that other wrestlers have a spot to move up on on the roster. Besides he was complaining a few years ago that he wanted to around '05 because of his back. So it was only a matter of time before he quit anyway. Even if he goes to TNA it's still not gonna do much for their ratings. Sure it might make them rise a bit, but not enough to make them contenders with WWE. So I think it's best that he just focus on his life outside of WWE, and at least he was able to leave with injury.

I am very disappointed to see Booker go. I have really been warming up to his current gimmick as of late. I think even at his age, he is a very useful guy. He still has drawing power and has alot of wrestling knowledge to pass onto the younger guys.

I'll miss ya, King. I wish him the best of luck in the future.

One thing; King Booker was most likely not granted his release from the company seeing how nobody pointed it out and speaking as if he can go somewhere else (other than his promotion).

I think he`s heart was more into his PWA promotion.Although I`m sure the events in recent months kinda showed him that he wasnt as valued by the WWE as maybe guys like HHH,HBK& Taker.I`m not too heart broken he`s leaving.
Yo Booka,Dont let the door hit your ass on the way out Suckaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!

I was upset when i read that Booker quit the WWE. At his age of 42 he had a lot to offer to the wrestling world, he had good ability, and could actually wrestle a good match. I read that he had constant back problems. I didnt blame him for being utterly upset when he went to RAW because he was right at home on the number two show. He was a main eventer there and on RAW he was nothing more than a mid carder. The move to ECW would of even been worse because of their TV time. I was a fan of Booker in WCW and throughout WWE. I grew fond of his King gimmick because it was very entertaining. I dont see wrestling in his near future because he is financially set because of his store(s) and promotion. I will miss him a lot because he was entertaining and wish him the best luck in the fututre.

Ok so he may have bitched alot recently, but lets all remember the book man for his great wrestling ability, i to sit back and watch the old harlem heat tag team from his wcw days and his 5 wcw WHC wins, yes im sorry to see him go WWE has lost a great talent, best of luck to him and sharmell whatever the future brings for them (TNA??????????????)

Man booker was such a good wrestler. The King Booker character was pretty lame though. Why didn't they just make his last match at SS & have HHH have an awesome come back and "end his career"? We could have seen HHH destroy him with the sledge hammer & make him bleed all over the mat and be the true king of the WWE.

All I can add to that is all HAIL King Booker!!!!!!!! I think he along with Y2J are the most decorated Superstars/Wrestlers Ever. Should ave won the World Title at Mania 19. HHH should have put him over but he didnt. Booker did beat him on Raw prior to Mania 19 in a tag match. Anyways lets look at this man illustrious career spanning two decades with 31 title reigns. Amazing... Nevermind him bitchin cuz he has a valid point. Awesome talent Best of 7 with Benoit is pure magic. Add he paid for Sherri Martel headstone. Great Man, Great Wrestler...

From WWE.com where he stills has a profile which makes me think he aint done yet. Who Knows...
