Michael Cole and Byron Saxton.

TheBadGuy92

Undertaker, If that is ur real name
For those that watched "Beast of the East" one of the very first things I noticed in the Jericho, Neville match was the commentating of the duo. The emotion they put in the night, the excitement, the stats, the history of Balor, Lesnar and Jericho they mentioned made me mark out a bit. I've noticed people raving about the cole and Saxton work. People are saying its because Vince wasn't in their ear telling them to plug a network or app every 17 seconds. But was that the only reason? Why was it so amazing? Did it draw you guys in more? I really enjoyed and I'm hoping it wasn't a one night deal and a higher up will notice the reviews and bring it to Vince or Trips attention. What do my fellow IwC think?!?

I must be in the minority on this one because I've already said in 2 separate threads that I thought it was sub par.

Saxton would say things and Cole would either ignore him completely and move on to something else or there'd be an awkward silence after Saxton made a comment.

Everybody keeps saying they did a great job so I might have to go back and watch the program again, this time paying more attention to the commentary.

For once I can't knock them. They were both pretty good considering neither one was even in the building, they were half a world away. They apparently did the commentary from WWE headquarters.

I like the fact that they didn't shy away from the fact that both Balor and Owens are well known there and why. And they even came right out and said Balor was know as Prince Devitt. Something I don't think they would have gotten away with on RAW. Loved that they explained by the streamers were being set off and the geisha's and flower's were presented because it was a championship match. Even Jericho's past in Japan was mentioned. Loved it.

They really did do cracking job. Can't complain at all.

Commentary was definitely not bad but nothing spectacular. Half of the time, it felt commentary wasn't even there. Maybe because I was so interested in Neville vs. Jericho and Owens vs. Balor.

It wasn't the best ever. It certainly wasn't JR and the King or even Cole and Tazz. But it was good. Especially compared to the average WWE commentary today, it was amazing. I mean, the announcers actually announcing what's going on in the match. What a novel idea! The announcers actually calling the action in the ring, and only talking about outside stuff such as history and strategy that actually related to the match in the ring. It never happens in WWE, and it was the best announcing on a WWE show in a very long time. It's sad that come Monday, we'll be back to the same, boring, horrendous crap.

I guess the positive outcome of their commentary should give all its credits to the absence of JBL. He's like a stupid human version of The Grumpy Cat in the commentary albeit that filthy animal is apparently funny sometimes. JBL just hates everything, yes its just because Vince wants him to be a heel commentator but that doesn't work well with JBL.

As far as Bryan and Cole, they reasonably did a very good job. Bryan is an apt replacement for the commentary team in the near future. There should be a replacement shouldn't there? And for those who're still complaining about this commentary, this is a new commentary team and are trying to develop the chemistry between them. So let them groom!

Cheers!!

I agree with Savior and I've noticed that, truth is it happens a lot with Saxton even in NXT, whenever he mentions something Graves would either ignore him or completely destroy him with words. Cole kinda does the same thing but he rarely does it. Cole and Saxton were absolutely amazing last night they called the action like it was no joking around no unnecessary stories and thank god no JBL. I'd just put the Great and Amazing Tom Phillps with them.

My dream Commentary team would be : Matt Striker, William Regal, and Renee Young.
