Who wins the match up?

Wendi paved the way for quote a few women wrestlers from the 80's until now, but I doubt she'd be able to handle a match of this magnitude, especially against Trish. Trish had a way of taking things up a notch if the time came, and more often than not she rose to the occasion. Wendi would give her all, but this is a match Trish would be victorious in.

I see Trish going all the way to the final in this tournament, and I can't see Wendi Richter stopping her. Wendi was a big star in her generation, but there aren't too many divas who can complete with the total package that Trish has. Ability, charisma, looks, mic skills and a huge determination and heart.

She's wrestled in a mask with a smashed up face before, and can take alot of punishment, I think more than Richter can. Trish would get through here, and I don't think it would be too difficult.

I'll stand alone in picking against Trish. She strictly hit spots, exciting the fans with the same old backbend to counter a charging opponent, and other moves of the same nature. I didn't see true ring wrestling from Trish.....she looked great; fit & limber, but without her opponent to make her look good, I didn't think she would have amounted to much. She accomplished more with her personality than ring style.

Wendy Richter knew how to wrestle and in any contest resembling a shoot match, I think she'd beat Trish.

No, Sally, you do NOT stand alone. Trish Stratus had a six year career that was ONLY in WWE. Wendi Richter fought the best around the world. She had epic matches in Japan with the likes of Yokota, Asuka, Jackie Sato. She fought Monster Ripper in an epic STEEL CAGE match in Puerto Rico In fact, she has been in several cage matches. Allow me to show some of Wendi's greatness:

Now, many of you are looking at how she was in the "biggest company" and was on TV every bloody week. Problem is that she never wrestled OUTSIDE of VKM's bubble. Richter fought all comers, and in more gimmick matches than you can shake a stick at. And, Richter is an inductee into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame (Class or 2012).

There is only one choice if you are truly a fan of Women's professional Wrestling. That choice is Wendi Richter.

So what? Working elsewhere does not change your level of talent. Stop whining about wanting everyone to go work in Japan. Vince's "bubble" as you call it, is the biggest federation in the world whether you like it or not. Trish was the biggest star of their female division competing at its most popular time against many of the best women to ever set foot in the ring. She main evented their flagship show. She held their most prestigious female title the Womens Championship a record 7 times. Her accomplishments more than justify her moving to the next round.

Wrong. Trish deserves to move on to the next round. She could believably defeat Richter.

It shows whether you have true talent or not. See Gail Kim, Mickie James. They have histories in the indies and in TNA. It shows that you can fight different styles in different places under different rules. If you fight the same people over and over and over you get complacent and/or stale rather quickly.

Stop whining about wanting everyone to go work in Japan.
What is wrong with going to a country that has long been considered to have the best women's promotions? Among women's wrestling's most knowledgeable fans? On a show where you are far more than a "potty break" or "filler"? And, it is not "whining" as you call it. It is pointing out a fact. What do you think the organizations of Shimmer or Shine are based on? Vince's "bubble"? Which leads us to....

Wrong. Just because it is "The biggest" or "most popular" does not mean it is "the best", nor does it mean it is not a "bubble". VKM is a modern day Billy Wolfe. The only difference is that Linda was never a wrestler. And, I say it is a bubble for this reason. He only allows 7 or 8 women in the Women's/Divas Division, and you get to only fight THOSE women. Similar to what Billy Wolfe did with Mildred Burke. It is called "protecting your talent". Now, I am going to give you a hypothetical example of that very point: AJ Lee and CM Punk go to Japan. AJ gets into a tiff in a restaurant with a masked woman, who is later found out to be JWP's and All Japan legend Command Bolshoi (She wears a mask in public to protect kayfabe). Feeling disrespected, AJ calls a press conference. At that conference, AJ states that she wants the "bitch" Bolshoi at Ribbonmania. (which is held at the end of a year by Ice Ribbon). Does not care about a stip. Just wants the match. The Japanese press goes apeshit. Bolshoi accepts. Now, hold it. AJ is with WWE. Command Bolshoi is the President of JWP Project (Japanese Joshi promotion) Yet, the match will be at Ice Ribbon's biggest show. How fast do you think that match gets signed? The gang at Neoplus (Ice Ribbon's ownership group) would be falling all over themselves to finalize the contractual details by AJ's last syllable.

Now, Cheerleader Melissa, wants Nikki Bella at Fast Lane. Melissa has a bunch of accomplishments. She is no scrub. Nikki would like the match with Melissa. How fast do you think VKM or Trips books it? They will laugh it off once they hear it. That is why I call VKM's Divas "wrestling in a bubble". It has been that way since VKM bought out Vince Sr.

Wrong. Trish deserves to move on to the next round. She could believably defeat Richter.
Deserves? How? Are you judging it based on pure wrestling talent? Or, is it because she looks "hot" and you saw her every week on Raw?

Richter, for me, is based on talent. If I cared about looks, I would be upset at why Babe the Farmer's Daughter (From GLOW) or GI Ho (from now-defunct WEW) were not in this.

While you do have a great point, not wrestling internationally is not a detriment. We don't fault Rock or Cena for not wrestling outside WWE. Or how about Misawa for not wrestling outside Japan? When Trish was on top of the WWE women's division it was the best it had ever been. Even more so than when Richter was on top. 2001-2007 was for lack of a better term the "golden age" of women's wrestling in the WWE. And it was mostly due to the efforts of Trish, with a great supporting cast, that the division was able to prosper.

There's no denying Trish's talents. Even if she did wrestle in a "bubble" so to speak. She was much more popular than Richter, and a much better performer. And Trish could "fake it" with the best of them. Do you not believe that if Trish went anywhere else - TNA, SHIMMER, Japan, CMLL, etc etc - that she couldn't have good matches with anyone? Do you not think that she couldn't fake the lucha or strong styles? Like when Hogan went to Japan he became a huge draw almost immediately. Trish would have been too.

Trish was a bigger star than Richter so I believe that she should go over here.

Opponent quality:
Trish Stratus has faced Victoria, Molly Holly, Jazz, Lita, Torrie Wilson, Candice, Michelle, Mickie James, Gail Kim, Jackie Moore, Ivory, Melina, Stephanie McMahon, Beth Phoenix, Chyna, Michelle McCool, Layla and Jillian Hall who've all made the elite 64 of this tournament - over a quarter of the competitors. Wendi Richter has faced Fabulous Moolah, Leilani Kai, Madusa and Sherri.

Advantage: Trish

Longevity:
Both have been active in ten calender years, but Trish has 525 recorded bouts to Wendi's 303.

Advantage: Trish

Attitude:
Trish left the WWe on good terms and still makes appearances for them. Wendi left the WWe under a cloud when Vince 'screwed' her for fear she'd leave with the belt after being unreasonable in contract negotiations... fears that appear well founded when she left the AWA two years letter without dropping their title.

Advantage: Trish

Win record:
Trish 57%
Wendi 61%

Advantage: Wendi (though, in my eyes, Trish's higher quality of opponent, the higher percentage of men she's faced and attitude make this a dubious 'point' to Richter)

Impact:
To casual fans, Wendi will always be remembered as having Cyndi Lauper in her corner against the legendary Fabulous Moolah at WM... the thing is she will always be third in that memory. Trish will be remembered as the face of WWe Divas when they were worth watching.

Advantage: Trish
