The Rise & Fall Of WCW:

It's The Monday Night Wars DVD, literally. All the intresting bits came off that DVD. I know what y'all thinking, ''but Jake, that DVD was shit''. Indeed it was, this DVD actually steals from it. So while it was quite good getting hold of Bill Goldberg, they couldn't tempt Bischoff to come back and Vince wouldn't pay Hogan. They may as well have not bothered. Unless you actually value the opinion of Mike Graham. Didn't think so.

The match choices are poor as well.

Batista - I Walk Alone:

Batista's book was one of the only few I've liked that have come out through WWE. The documentary on this disc is just a verbalization of it. They could've just had Batista reading his book out in fron of some children. Although I suspect he can't read. I think the main reason the book is better is because I imaged Batista had a funky accent. But on screen he comes across like Randy Orton, but without the tempet tantrums. He's a seriously dull man. His ex-wife is rather attractive though, his Mum, however, is scary as fuck. I thought we'd have a nipple slip on our hands.

The matches are perfectly fine. Some good, some normal Batista matches. Fortunately I've seen them all before so I only needed to watch one. The DVD runs for 8 hours, I got it finished and filed away after two.

From the Vault Shawn Micheals:

Disc 1: Disc one has some very good matches. The first match is a match before HBK joined the WWF and is basically him getting beaten up and becoming a bloody mess. Good Tah Team action though.

The next match is versus Razor Ramon for the intercontential championship match at wrestlemania X in th first ever ladder match. Great Match and possibly one of shawn micheals match. Although he lost, HBK really stole the show.

The last match on disc one is agianist bret hart at wrestlemania 12 in the first ever iron man match. There is some boring parts and it was obvious that there would be no pinfalls in the hour but still a solid match

Disc 2: The first match is the no holds barred match agianest Diesel. A good match but a bit overatted.
The next match is agianest mankind and is decent.
The next match is the first ever hell in a cell match agianest the undertaker. Nuff Said.

The last match is agianest HHH. Agian Nuff Said

Overall the DVD has some great matches on it but they really good have had another disc

Overall: 8/10

Your entitled to your opinion but I have mine as well. I dont see how you think these 2 Matches were just decent and not classics as they are in my eyes. The Iron Man with Bret Hart is still my fav WWE 60 min match ever, great chain wrestling, technical, taking it to the air and a great story being told. The match with Mankind is a Gem, it's so under appreciated. I think it was Foleys best Match ever imo.

Thos was posted on the main site about John Morrisons new dvd. While it appears that the dvd makes some reference to his days as Johny Nitro, all the matches on the dvd are from after his change to Morisson.

My question is do you all think that matches from his Nitro days should have been included. Like some old MNM matches against Londrick or Rey and Batista. Or some of his singles matches with Jeff Hardy for the I.C title back on Raw? While he was alot more succesful as Morisson, should they not go back and show more from his roots?

I honestly loved his character when he was with MNM and in singles competition under the name Johnny Nitro. I still think he could have pulled off a face gimmick under that character and I HATED when he became John Morrison. That being said, the one major thing that bothers me about this DVD is that quite honestly it doesn't look very interesting at all. I definitely wouldn't spend 30 bucks or whatever to buy it, and I was curious when I found out John Morrison was gonna have a DVD coming out, because I feel there's a number of superstars that have been around for years that still don't have DVDs, but whom I think deserve one more than Morrison (eg. Jericho & Orton).

All in all, I believe that they could have shown some of his matches as Nitro and in MNM, but it makes sense that they didn't since the DVD is done under his more recent ring name. I'm just disappointed because I found he had some really good matches as Nitro, and fans aren't going to be able to see that on this DVD. That's my take on it.

I think were getting screwed cause most of the matches on the dvd he lost i think theres 2 matches on there he actually won like wtf but yeh they shouldve put some nitro matches on there like when MNM debuted and they beat eddie and rey for the belts and maybe the triple threat where he won his first intercontinental title.

I don't see why there wasn't more attention given to his Johnny Nitro character. He had some success with that character in both the tag team division and the Raw midcard. The MNM team was great (not as good as Miz & Morrison, but I liked them) and things only improved after he went solo in the midcard of Raw. The feud against Jeff Hardy for the IC title back in 2006 was great and I enjoyed the entire feud. Then there was his underrated team with Kenny Dykstra before the draft split them up. He then became Morrison.

I think that showing some more matches from his time as Nitro could have been good because many of them were great and I'm sure there are fans who might have missed out on them that would like to see them.

If that's the lineup, they've done a bad on this one. MNM were a good team that had good matches, and they really are what put Morrison on the map, long before his ECW reign. He won the IC title as Nitro and the 4 way ladder match is probably worth putting on there too.

If the sum total of their Morrison DVD is 9 matches that were all on TV, they are pretty much admitting the fact that there isn't enough material. Using the Nitro stuff would be a bit better, especially as they might actually be able to get a single PPV match on there then.

I like the match list for Morrison's DVD, but I'm shocked they didn't put some of his tag stuff on there. MNM vs. L&K, the Hardys, and the Mexicools and Miz/Morrison vs. The Colons, Punk/Kofi, and Dreamer/Delaney would have really rounded out the set well.

The Essential Starrcade

The documentary was too short. Which is okay as long as the wrestling is fine. Although it seems some of the cruiser stuff was released on other DVDs. So I'll just skip over that. The scaffold matches as well. Douglas/Steamboat vs. Pillman/Windham should have been higher. Remembering Sting used to be pretty awesome was something, but following it up with Sting-Hogan ruined it for me. At least nothing was blurred. That's a plus.

The highlight of the DVD is the match introductions. Tully Blanchard getting close to the camera in an attempt to be intense and frightening was one of the more pathetic things I've seen in the last five years. I feel sorry for the camera man who had to film that without laughing. He's a better man than I am. That just barely edges out every segment where Ric Flair spoke as the worst thing about the DVD.

2.7 out of 8 Dungeons

Jeff Hardy: My Life-My Rules

A quick glance at my DVD shelf told me that they're released a Hardy Boyz DVD not too long ago. To paraphrase what I probably thought at the time ''Why not make it three disc and put more Jeff Hardy shit on there''. WWE obviously took my idea and produced this DVD set.

The documentary was doing great, all until Matt Hardy showed up. Then it goes all rubbish when Matt is talking like he really turned on Jeff in January last year. Jeff, such a forgiving sole. If somebody did that shit to me, I'd be like, all angry and stuff. I'd never forgive him. He ruined Jeff's title reign, tried to run him off the road and nearly killed him with fireworks. Jeff, in sweet revenge, broke his hand, accidentally.
When watching the matches I'd forgotten how much I'd grown to like Jeff Hardy over the last two years, I'd also forgotten how little I rated him before then.

Kurt Angle: Champion

Don't bother, it's shit.

Yeah, I finally picked up this set because I was bored as hell and had a little cash to blow. The documentary was pretty much the same as the Monday Night War DVD. They decided to focus on the negative aspects of WCW, and what they were doing wrong, rather than the various revolutionary things they did right. In one segment, they focus on the phenomenon known as Goldberg for about ten minutes. You have several of the contributors hailing Goldberg and WCW, and then you have fatass Big Show moaning about Kevin Nash and Scott Hall's contracts. What the fuck?

And yes, the match choices are poor. Aside from the awesomeness of Dean Malenko / Eddie Guerrero at Uncensored 1997, most of the bouts showcase some of the questionable things WCW did during this time span. You have Chris Jericho unmasking Juventud Guerrera at SuperBrawl VIII. Literally the next match on the disc is The Steiners vs. the Outsiders at the same PPV, which wasn't even a match at all and is just there to show Scott Steiner's heel turn. Whoopee.

There is one single match featuring OMG GOLDBERG, the guy they spent ten minutes drooling over in the documentary, and it's the infamous World Title contest against Diamond Dallas Page, where the PPV feed to Halloween Havoc was cut off and WCW was forced to refund millions of people, because they failed to ask the PPV guys if they could stay on the air for another 10 minutes.

And then you have the immortal classic Lance Storm vs. Booker T from Nitro c. 2000. While not a bad match, the commentary, and outside goings-on, was horrid. They had Schiavone, Scott Hudson, the fat lard Mark Madden, The "Fat Chick Thriller" Mike Awesome, and his fat girlfriend whose name I forget. Anyway, the in-ring action is ignored so the fat chick can have her ham sandwiches. And Tony Schiavone acknowledges it.

So this DVD set is poised to warp the memory of WCW in our minds even more, those of us who lived through and witnessed its apex. And for those who haven't done so, it will definitely put the notion in their heads that Vince McMahon is a creative genius, and all the losers at WCW weren't...simply because the company is now dead.

The Best Of TNA 2009: When I first saw this on the (bottom) shelf of the wrestling section in HMV, I thought TNA had finally embraced the fact that they're a rubbish promotion and had released an ironic DVD. Unfortunately this is as legit as it get's, this is an actual Best Of 2009 DVD. Despite the fact they haven't done one of these before or since their 2007 edition, it seems like a strange time to do another one. Particularly when you take into account how fucking aful TNA has been over the past year.

All this DVD is random matches, TNA tries to give the whole thing some order by having a top 5 matches of the year, Knockout match of the year, grudge match of the year and, I think, gimmick match of the year.

The women's match truly highlights TNA's signature division, it's a 6 minute long, insignificant female match that makes you long for the days of Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong. I'm in no doubt it was the best female match TNA put on last year, but that still doesn't make it a good wrestling match.

The grudge match, from my memory, is A.J. Styles vs. Kurt Angle in a table match. Good? Don't count on it. It's perfectly fine for a TV match, but you're never going to have a great tables match, the finishes usually lack any drama.

The third match, not in the top 5 by the way, is the empty areena match between Angle & Sting. This has the honor of being a match I actually remember. It's an intresting concept and one that could've worked really well. It's not possible for WWE to do something like this so you'd think TNA would've made a big deal out of it. But it's on iMPACT! and it ends in a no contest.

I'll be buggered if I can remember the top 5 matches of the year, but the top 2 are from turning point. Angle vs. Wolfe & Styles vs. Daniels vs. Joe. Both are good matches and they really show how much better TNA was during that transitional phase when they were waiting for Hogan to arrive.

The History Of The World Heavyweight Championship: A history DVD so innacurate it's like it was made by the members of WZ forums. I will give the DVD this, that man who talks about the world title history from the 40's-60's is very intresting, it's a shame he's not in it more. I don't see how you can do a history of the WHC DVD anyway considering all the worlds titles that have appeared over the years and I certainly don't know how you can cover all of it in an hour. The answer is, you can't. Average matches as well.

Best Of Raw 2009: No best of ECW or Smackdown, y'know, the actual good shows? The matches are mostly fine, the angles don't really work out of context. Certain aspects are intresting and you might like it if you're one of the two people around who care for the guest host concept. They'd have been better off doing each segent by month, but instead of matches and random angles they should've had WWE Superstars picking the match of the month and then done a promo or angle of the month with a video package highlighting what happened before, then another highlight package showing what happened for the rest of the month.

John Morrison - Rock Star: I'll admit right now, John Morrison is entertaining, it's just the comparisons to Shawn Michaels that confuse me. He's hugely popular yet all he does is produce good TV matches, which is exactly what Evan Bourne, Chavo Guerrero and every other mid carder in the promotion does.

The matches are fine for what they are, his ECW Championship match with Punk is very good, so is his IC title match with Rey Mysterio. The rest are entertaining but instantly forgettable. There are no PPV matches on this set for some reason.

Inbetween each match there is a segment, highlights of The Dirt Sheet, Morrison answering questions and the only thing that becomes clear during these segments is how unnatural Morrison is in front of a camera when he has to engage his mouth.

Wow, hope this works. This is my first thread. Anyways, Looks like WWE has finally announced that they will be putting out Chris Jericho DVD. Something that me and my friends have talked about for years and feel is long over due. My Question to all of you is, What matches and segments would you like to see on a Chris Jericho DVD? List as many as you like. Can't wait to see some of these answers!

Wow, hope this works. This is my first time responding to your thread. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of Jericho and am interested in seeing WWE put out a set for him but I'm not sure which matches should be on the set. My heart says certain matches, but my head says that owning those matches on other DVDs should make me want to see other matches make the set.

Stuff from his WCW cruiserweight run and his feud with Malenko is a must for the set. It was some of the earliest stuff that made Jericho stand out. Him formally protesting his loss and the promos that came from that angle really showed his talent and I've love to see them make the set.

His WWF Intercontinental Championship ladder match with Benoit from Royal Rumble 2001 was a great win for Jericho and is regarded as one of the better ladder matches in WWF history. If they put matches with Benoit on the set, this should be their first choice.

Jericho's had some solid matches with both RVD and Christian over the years, so some obscure singles bout between him and either of those two that came off well would fill up the set nicely.

Jericho's very high about his matches with Michaels so some of those are a given from what may well have been the best feud of his career.

His feud with Cena is really underrated and I think his match with Cena at Survivor Series 2008 is one of the best matches of his career. Top notch story based on Cena's injury. Killer match.

His feud with Rey from last year produced some good work and considering he praised Rey for being a real life superhero, I'm sure he's high on those bouts. Look for one or more of them to make the set.

He had a good match on Superstars with CM Punk last year. If you need something to fill out the set, why not that?

Here it is: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9d6vd_wwe-cm-punk-vs-chris-jericho_sport

Fine filler.

Considering Jericho floundered in the midcard for most of his career, I hope this DVD is proportioned appropriately. I don't want to see more main event matches than midcard bouts.

His WWF Intercontinental Championship ladder match with Benoit from Royal Rumble 2001 was a great win for Jericho and is regarded as one of the better ladder matches in WWF history. If they put matches with Benoit on the set, this should be their first choice.

They will never put any match vs Benoit on a dvd. Which is a shame, and a disservice to the wrestlers because some of the greatest matches of all time have included Benoit.

They don't have to promote that Benoit is on the dvd, or even evem mention his name . They could show the match and maybe on the dvd's commentary mention that Benoit the wrestler is different than Benoit the murderer.

On Youtube someone has compiled a series of videos under the name Jericho's Huge WCW Push, I personally think that whole series should make the DVD, although with some of the bits it skipped out during that period too.
In my opinion anything from that era of Jericho's career is pure gold

Well, I think there should definitely be some of Jericho's ECW and WCW matches on the DVD if for nothing else than to give the fans some sort of background into his career. If they could add matches from before ECW, that would be sweet. But anyway, here's a list of matches and segments from his WWE career that I think deserve a spot on the DVD.

Y2J's debut on Raw- On what I would argue to be one of the best Raw is Wars ever (8.9.99), Jericho's debut shined above all the insanity that happened that night. The crowd was hot, and the mic work between him and The Rock was great.

Jericho vs. Triple H- Raw- April 2000- The night where Jericho won the championship... until a few moments later where Earl Hebner reversed his own decision. The pop of the crowd was huge that night when Jericho won, and this definitely deserves to be on the DVD.

Chris Jericho vs. Triple H- Last Man Standing- Fully Loaded 2000- Excellent match and elevated Jericho to main event status in my eyes even though he lost.

Chris Jericho vs. The Rock- No Mercy 2001- Great match between two WWF superstars vying for the WCW Championship. This match proved The Rock could "wrestle" and provided Jericho with his first "Big One."

Jericho vs. The Rock and then vs. Steve Austin- Vengeance 2001- The night Jericho mentions at least once a month. He became the first ever Undisputed Champion that night.

Jericho vs. Triple H- Hell in a Cell- Judgment Day 2002- Very good Hell in a Cell match and worth a spot on the DVD.

Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy- No Way Out 2003- Many people have forgotten this match. It was a very good 12 minute match and deserves a spot as well for Jericho.

Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels- WrestleMania 19- What hasn't been said about this match? Awesome.

Jericho vs. Shelton Benjamin- Backlash 2005- A very entertaining match between the two, and it started Jericho on his road back to the heel championship contender.

Jericho's Return on Raw- November 2007- The viral campaign that aired on WWE for weeks promoting this return was great, even though the return wasn't handled as well as it should have been.

Jericho vs. Jeff Hardy- March 2008 Raw- This was Hardy's blowoff before his suspension for violating the Wellness Policy. It was a very good IC championship match.

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho- Judgment Day 2008, The Great American Bash 2008, Unforgiven 2008, or No Mercy 2008- Either of these matches would be great to feature on the DVD as this feud between Jericho and Michaels was great during that time.

Jericho vs. Mysterio- The Bash 2009- One of the best matches of last year. The only reason it isn't considered the best by many is because it shared the same year as Taker-HBK at WrestleMania.

Jerishow vs. Batista and Rey Mysterio- This would be a great showcase of Jerishow's dominance over the Tag Team Division.

Other Matches That Would Be Nice:
Jericho vs. Eddie Guerrero- Insurrextion 2000- Very good match. Would be nice since most of the US fans haven't seen this match yet unless they bought the tape (like I did).
Jericho vs. Benoit (won't happen, but Benoit vs. Jericho was a great in-ring product)
Jericho vs. Randy Orton- Raw 2004- I don't remember when this match happened, but I remember the match being very good with the crowd literally begging for a new champion.
Jericho vs. Batista- Steel Cage Match- Raw 2008- Pretty good cage match.
Jericho vs. Steamboat- Nice match at Backlash 2009 which indeed proved that Steamboat still had it.
Jericho vs. Daniel Bryan- I think Jericho and Danielson may have set the bar too high for NXT with this match as I feel nothing that has followed this match has ever really captured that electricity. Ok, except maybe Cole being beat up.

damn it DiscipleofWrestling!! you were one step in front of me hahaha oh well...
Im a big Jerichoholic (remember that?) however Im sad to say that I am not that familiar with Y2Js work with other companies..but it would be awesome to see some matches back in ECW WCW Japan (dont know the name of that company sorry) etc..

well with the case of Benoit, Angle (I know not gonna happen still..) RVD, Shelton Benjamin and Christian I think any match is really REALLY good!

specific matches (no order):

Jericho vs HBK at Mania XIX of course
Jericho vs HBK at 2009 No Mercy the ladder match
Jericho vs HHH think its Judgement Day 2002 anyway the HIAC match
Jericho vs Rocky then vs Austin at Vengeance 2001
Jericho vs Cena at SummerSlam 2005 great match!!
Jericho vs Rey any match of their last year´s feud
I know its the classic ones except against Cena but....

Well any self respeceting Jericho dvd will need to have disc 1 focus on his work in JAPAN, Smokey Mountain with Lance Storm and his ECW run. Disc 2 would focus on his 3 year WCW RUN and the first part of his WWF run, then disc 3 have matches from his first WWE Title thru to now. His man of 1004 holds promo from Nitro MUST BEINCLUDED..its one of the best promos inm wrestlnig history...his tiny program with Goldberg i9n WCW, especially the culmination of him getting speared in the aisle is a jst as well. These can be all special features so not to clog up match time. As hes won 9 IC Title, they wont all make the cut so nmatches with Benoit where he won two from him probably will not kae it.

The problem with the entirety of your disc 1 is that the WWE doesn't own any company in Japan nor do they own Smoky Mountain Wrestling. If Jericho is going to include anything from these promotions in his DVD, he needs to do it outside of WWE jurisdiction and obtain the rights for these clips/matches himself. Everything else sounds fine, though.

I'm pretty stoked for this DVD. I don't usually buy WWE DVDs, or anything published by WWE media because we rarely get anything extra that isn't already widely available for free. But I'll by a condensed Jericho library.

If there is no documentary disc, then I would do the following for a Jericho DVD:

Disc 1 - ECW/WCW/anything else they have the rights to from his early career. Could easily fill three hours here, some of the stuff with Malenko etc. Would also have to include extras such as his visit to the Whitehouse and his calling out Goldberg.

Disc 2 - WWF/E 99-05 - the best stuff from his first run in New York. With Benoit off the table, the musts are Triple H at Fully Loaded 2000, The Rock at No Mercy 2001, the Undisputed title matches, Shawn at Mania 19

Disc 3 - his current run - the Shawn feud, JeriShow, Edge at Mania, and tonnes and tonnes of promos.

If I gave it more thought I could give you a listing, that's how I would structure it anyway.

Disc 3 - WWE 07 onwards - Probably as much to choose from here as the previous disc, the Shawn stuff, jeriShow, the Edge match from Mania, and the triple threat with Swagger, the Rey Rey feud. Plus tonnes of great promos.

If I thought about it more I could come up with a match listing but anyway, that's how I would structure it.

just finished watching some of the steamboat dvd. one word WOW. that guy was awesome those matches with flair, and roberts were classics, too bad his final run in wwe didn't end to good

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat is my favourite all-time wrestler. He is the greatest WWE superstar to have never won the WWE or World Title in WWF/E. I'm looking forward to getting this DVD.

I hope that his match at WM3, and his classic match with Flair, where he wins the WCW Title, are on this.

Also, is that promo that Steamboat and Chris Jericho had on Raw, on this? The one when Steamboat was announced as being in the HoF? This showed that Steamboat was not just a fantastic wrestler, but great on the mike as well.

Yes, it has the WM3 match vs. Savage, and it also has alternate commentary for this match by Steamboat which is awesome.. It has two matches vs. Flair, but only one from the famous trio they had in mid 1989. It has the second bout of the three they had, the two out of three falls match from Clash of the Champions. The one where Steamboat retained his title.

I am not sure about the Jericho promo you are looking for, but it does have the match they had at Backlash 09 which was a great contest.

I highly recommend this dvd. The documentary on the first disc is great, it really gives you insight to Rickys early years, how he grew up, how he got into wrestling, and the path of his entire career.

One part in particular that was very interesting was when he started to talk about the Wrestlemania 3 afterparty. I always wondered (even as a 12 yr old at the time) why they took the IC title away from him so quickly after he won it, being he was so good and so popular. I also always wondered why there were never any return matches for him and Savage seeing how it was such a classic, it didnt make sense to me. But he touches on that a little, and I guess you can draw your own conclusions from what he says, but its pretty clear to me as to what happened. Definitley check it out if you can..

i can't wait for that jericho dvd, it has been long overdue, would also like for them to do one on the big show, he has always been one of my favorites, anybody else that needs a dvd documentary that hasn't been done
