*MERGED* [Official] Ted Dibiase Jr. Discussion Thread

Where is DiBiase going? Since the only thing he has going for him is a nice body (he sucks in the ring and on the mic), I'm hoping his destination is the unemployment line.

DiBiase isn't going anywhere. He's rather boring to be honest. His best hope is to learn how to do his father's laugh. Maybe that'd get him over.

Gun's got it straight down the sight and through the crosshairs. DiBiase's name value and card position on RAW didn't suit him well. He has a lot of work to get anywhere near the main event, so the midcard is where he'll stay. However, this gimmick he's adopted has made him a little bit more interesting than being Orton-lite back in legacy. He's making his own directions and getting people to notice him. It's better than getting owned by the main event guys.

It's a good thing that he got rid of Virgil, he got too many cheers for being a heel. This gives the option of him finding somebody new or creating even more twists on his character to slowly move away from being his father's son (though it'll be hard considering they have the same name). He doesn't need to go anywhere, he's doing fine.

Who freakin' knows, that's the answer! I don't even think WWE know what to do with Ted DiBiase right now. Personally, I lost interested in him a long time ago. He had a definite spark going when there was the possibility of a feud with Orton back when Legacy were still going. That spark never amounted to anything, Legacy split up and Ted is left with this stupid Million Dollar Belt gimmick.

If they're going to do something with this guy, they need to do it soon, before he fades into obscurity. I must say, he really doesn't interest me though.

Are you kidding?!?! The Million Dollar gimmick is fantastic! I absolutely love seeing it, it has a great sense of nostalgia which makes it more interesting and the historical value of all assests of it makes it unique from other people in WWE. Its one of my favourite gimmicks at the moment, but I agee that WWE need to start going somewhere with it. Maybe have him get involved with the NXT thing by buying them contracts or something since none of the guest hosts will give him what he wants?

He has not lost his spark at all, I think its still there, but I agree they should have definately done something when they had the chance against Orton. but the problem was, Orton became a crowd favourite, so it was impossible to do the feud they wanted with DiBiase turning face. It is much harder to do the heel going over in a storyline like the Legacy one. But I think the current gimmick is better anyway, so I don't mind, as long as they use it to push him soon

Yes, it was. 20 years ago when I saw the real DiBiase as a kid. Sorry, you missed it, but DiBiase Jr sucks. What he is doing is an insult to the real Million Dollar Man. But, Ted Sr gave his blessing because he wants his kid to succeed. To succeed he needs to drop it, immediately.

I think that Ted Dibiase should go over to Smackdown and be an actual championship (intercontential, tag team or world heavyweight) contender. He isn't doing anything on RAW and I think that Smackdown is a much better brand to establish future stars.

Ted DiBiase is literally going nowhere...

It's funny because we were all talking about this last night during his match. The shame for Ted DiBiase is that nothing seems to be sticking to his character and no one is taking him seriously as a hell right now.

"OMGZ! You disrespected Virgil!"

So what if he disrespected Virgil? I personally don't care for what the WWE are trying to do with Ted DiBiase right now. He is stale and boring. He uses techniques to get over that have been done too many times in the past and it's not working. Adding the millionaire gimmick hasn't worked for him as it did for his father because, guess what, he's not his father. Ted DiBiase senior had more charisma in his pinky than Ted DiBiase junior has in his entire body and he can't be blamed for that.

However, I just don't see any growth from him. I was talking to Blade about this and he raised an interesting point about Orton. Orton turned face at the same time that DiBiase was supposed to turn face, supposedly, and that seemed to rob him of the opportunity to get over. So, they stuck the million dollar belt on him and hoped that the fans would buy it. He isn't even in a notable feud right now either. He is going nowhere and if the WWE don't start to think about this soon, he might be out the door.

I think he's stalled over the last few weeks because of his concussion at Over The Limit.

Because he couldn't wrestle they couldn't do much with him. He's been bunched in with the guest hosts because its the only thing he can do that will keep him out of the ring.

I wouldn't take much notice of the last 4 weeks. With the injury there was nowhere to take his character.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with him now he can wrestle - continuing the fued with R-Truth (perhaps why he's dropped the US belt...).

I couldnt help but feel bad for Ted after last night......he literally has no gimmick to call his own.....everything about him is a copy after his dad.....Virgil coming out......having the $$$belt, sticking money in ppls mouths, trying to buy things from people.....he needs his own gimmick.....he is almost stuck in his daddys shadow for the time being.....he is looking more and more impressive physically every week but needs his own gimmick.....at least Cody isnt coming out with a cowboy hat, cowboy boots and a stupid vest like Dusty.....but of course Cody was always better.....

Ted does need his own gimmick, but what gimmick could that be? And putting Virgil with him made things even worst, and why is Virgil still with WWE? Does he have money problems or something? He broke? Blew all his money on doing stupid stuff.

The thing is, Sr. spent it own money, Jr. is spending his dads money...its nt the same and the gimmick was better with Sr.

I agree, Jr. needs his own gimmick, its a shit thing his name is DiBiase, because automatically you think to give him the $$$ gimmick...It just wasn't for him...

Ted needs a new gimmick and fast, before he has his first singles title run...because having the million $ belt shows us he as bad as his dad because he couldn't win a title...

The problem is that Ted Jnr isn't the Million Dollar Man. This gimmick is stupid and pointless and is pushing Ted Jnr further into the abyss of nothingness. Ted needs a real feud and fast. Give him a chance to go against someone such as Morrisson, for example. This whole "Million Dollar Belt" shit is annoying and Ted does not resemble his father.

Since they're going with the Million Dollar Man gimmick, they should give him some screen time with his dad. I remember when Orton was starting out he did some stuff with Orton Sr. against Undertaker, which got him some heat. DiBiase is a much bigger name than Orton Sr. ever was. Why not let him give Ted Jr. a rub? They have IRS, they have Virgil. Might as well give Money Inc. some time as a true stable if they're serious about continuing the gimmick.

I couldn't agree more. I think the million dollar gimmick deserves a shot on Smackdown, but he also needs to be competing for Mid-card titles. If the gimmick doesn't catch on there, it can be dropped w/out really hurting Ted Jr. too much. With Cody on SD, maybe they could start an angle between the two. Either way, he is losing momentum on RAW rather quickly.

YES! Ted should be up there. Even a small push would ge nice. Anything would be better than fighting guest hosts every week. He has so much talent thats being wasted.. I say he should be in contention for the next us title. But no you have Zac Ryder.

Thank you jpk I had no idea about that concussion and that really explains alot. If there still making sure to put him on tv every week then they still have hopes for him after all.

IMO I think he would be way better off on smackdown because raw is way to stacked right now to try and fit him in with all the other talent they have on that show. I wouldn't want to change his gimmick till he atleast gets a chance to have a real program with some1.

Not at all. He has the "it" factor. Most of the time you can usually sense star power straight away, I never saw it with Drew McIntyre or with Sheamus. I still don't, and even though Sheamus has got to the top, I still don't think he has anything to him. I saw star power in DiBiase Jr from the moment he debuted, he has "it". And I believe he has the potential to be right at the very top of the company one day. He still needs some work but the talent is there. He is not insulting the Million Dollar Man at all, they are starting him out like this but slowly are changing it to suit him, such as dropping Virgil this past week. But even so, it all creates a great feeling of nostalgia when you see the belt and his dads old traits, it has certainly got peoples attention. This is such a unique, refreshing push to see. One day he will become his own character, but this is a great way of turning into that.

DiBiase Jr. does NOT have the It Factor. Like, at all. He was bland and boring, and despite being the son of one of my favorite legends, is completely uninteresting to me. There are so many more people who deserve pushes over him, including Cody Rhodes.

...At least, that's what I would have said before he became MDM 2. DiBiase Jr. becoming his father in miniature was a FANTASTIC idea, and really he should have had this gimmick the whole time he was in the company rather than had to go through the Legacy story. The MDM gimmick is something that we haven't seen for the longest time, and Jr. is playing it to a T. You can talk about how he should branch out by himself...well, they tried that with Legacy, and it was mediocre.

Anything that gets MDM referenced on my TV is A-OK with me. Maybe I'm not so sure DiBiase Jr. will ever be a main eventer, but damned if this gimmick doesn't make for some very entertaining TV.

Like Doc said, Ted is great as the Million dollar Man. Someone like him has storylines only with a specific family gimmick, and of course, this has to do money. We didn't hear to many Million Dollar References before this gimmick, but Ted has really stepped it up, and I'm sure WWE has some great things in store for him. Legacy benefited him little to none, but now as he branches out on his own, he's hitting the heel part hard, partly because of the Orton Face turn(?). Cody isn't doing bad either, so I hope he gets a feud. There isn't much more you can say about this gimmick than "Unique, entertaining, and high-quality." Usually on these subjects I'm short on words, and once again it never fails, because Ted is not only a talented technician in the ring, but he isn't too bad on the mic either. I am glad to officially declare myself a member of the Ted Dibiase, Jr. International Mark Foundation...I'm gonna get rich, I tell you!

They should of created a new gimmick just for Ted. Liked the Billionaire Dollar Man. That way Ted could say he is worth more then his father. I mean it still be the same butg it would notg be thed exact same. But seriously Ted needs his own gimmick. You do not see Randy going around with that cowboy gimmick his dad have. Or Cody going around with the american dream gimmick. Rock camed in and had a copy gimmick of his dad and you see were that got him....no were.

I'm loving what Ted DiBiase has been doing as of late, while he hasn't been pushed in the manner of which you would think WWE would want to push a guy like Ted DiBiase after coming out of a feud with Randy Orton, Ted has still done immensely well for himself.

Ted has gotten Virgil back, while he trashed him last night, Virgil still returned and helped Ted get over as a heel, Maryse will do well alongside Ted because both needs something to do, and now they can do something good together, pushing both perhaps, but ultimately Ted mostly.

I like the whole Million Dollar gimmick he holds, I loved at Sr. so why shouldn't I love it now with a guy who pulls it off pretty well also.

Ted DiBiase has a good future in front of him, and the storylines he's been getting as of late shows that WWE has something in mind for him, even if he's not getting a push in terms of winning matches, he's being solidified as a great act in WWE with such a moniker and constant appearances on RAW.

Interesting teaming with Maryse, I like it and I loved the "go to the drug store" line last night.

Another line of note - someone who "knows the power of money" - which essentially makes Maryse a hooker - but we'll look past that.

I like it, it'll help DiBiase get over as a heel, which he doesn't necessarily need. But it'll at the very least not be a carbon copy of his fathers gimmick - they could be the "Million Dollar Couple".

Will be interesting to see who his first fued is with, don't have much reason to believe him as a singles wrestler at the moment.

The following is improvised:

Virgil: But Ted you'll need protection!!!

Ted: I can find it at the Drug Store!

Maryse: (Raises the right eye and grins)

Dexter's Lab: Om le du felmage...

Ted: I can buy that...

In general, the angle with Maryse should go well as Miz seems like he will be dropping the US title from interference with Randy Orton. Ted should be able to win the US so he boost his ego and in return Maryse can win the diva's title. This is going to make for some interesting TV on Monday Nights.

Why couldn't they make him a different money man. Like Billion Dollar Man instead of Million Dollar Man? That way he be better then his faither, financially and he could say he will be a better wrestler then his father too and more people would remember him then his father. Also his belt should actually be defended like how it was back in the day. And Maryse should of came in from the start instead of poor man Virgil.

Ted DiBiase Jr., the son of the great " Million Dollar Man " Ted DiBiase Sr., once the promising half of the rookies in Legacy. What is he doing right now you ask? He's floating around in midcard hell, wasting away.

If I'm correct on this, I believe it was the Raw after Wrestlemania, or maybe the one after, Ted debuted a refreshed version of his father's gimmick, as " The Fortunate Son ", and even brought back the Million Dollar Championship belt. Ever since then, he's done absolutely nothing noteworthy.

The only storyline he was involved in was one where he attempted to find his own Virgil, which gave us nothing but a few meaningless matches, and a chance for him to appear on pay per view.

I realize that he is in the Money In the Bank match for Raw at the pay per view, and this match better give him a proper storyline from the outcome or give him the win and the briefcase, as I think he needs it to save his career from fizzling out.

So my question here is, do you guys think Ted has a place on Raw right now? What kind of storyline would you have placed him in after the Legacy break up to give him steam and help keep his credibility? Do you guys think the Money in the Bank match is what Ted needs to help revitalize himself and get himself more television time?
