*Merged* [OFFICIAL] No More Unified Titles... New WWE Tag Team Titles Thread

Ridiculously excessive and gaudy-looking, which I have no problem with whatsoever. What's the point of trying to sell the WWE as anything else? These belts sure as hell aren't going to mean as much as the World Heavyweight Title for say, Boxing, so what does it matter if it's bright and colourful? The belt has to appeal to people, and it has to have people wanting to buy replicas. Big, bright things that appeal to kids are what the WWE has been based on since the 80's. Don't let that Attitude Era fool you, the WWE is very much a merchandise shilling comapny. Action Figures, T-Shirts, Replica Belts, the whole bit. I mean, one of the top stories that takes up the front page of WWE.Com right now is focused solely on the new colour scheme of Cena and how you too can wear his shirt. Don't ask me what Roman Soldiers have to do with Tag Team Wrestling. But that belt is sufficiently blinged out to make some kids want to buy them, and it reduces the amount of belts, so really, it's just fine.

Omg these are so fugly, i wouldn't belive my eyes when bret hart came out with them. Really? Copper belts with roman helmets on them? Really?

Overall, it was a good idea to finally legitimise the Tag Team titles by merging the two championships into something completely different. Although I will miss watching Natalya carry out two belt simultaneously, it was time for change. I feel that the E made a mistake by not renaming it with "World" somewhere in the championship... but then again, you can't really say World Wrestling Entertainment World Tag Team Championship now can you?

The looks are fine to me. It's an updated look that actually signifies what the division is about. The two heads symbolise two men fighting together. The Roman-esque helmets embraces how these men will go to great lengths to defend themselves and are considered the best there is (as history would dictate when the Roman's were in power). It's a neat look that will allow kids to dig the championships and offer for some history lessons too. Who cares about a... er... "legit looking" title (despite the fact that it is more "legit looking" than the silver ECW belt) when it can benefit your main audience?

Good move by the E.

The fact that WWE didn't create a new set of belts when the titles got unified and instead had the champions for whatever reason just carry around two set of belts was one of my biggest complaints for a while. As I said, was one of my biggest complaints. Last night I was pumped when WWE announced that they had finally created one new pair of tag team belts for the unified champions. I always thought it was ridiculous that WWE didn't debut a new set of belts when they unified and instead just had whomever were the champions at the time walk around with both the world and WWE tag titles for no good reason. I always though that since they were carrying around the two sets of belts, whats stopping them from deciding just to put or the other on the line instead of both? But now thats all for not as we finally have a new set that officially unifies the tag team titles.

Now onto the appearance of these here belts. I think they look great. Their flashy, colorful, and have an ancient greek feel to them. The belts look great, so I don't know how anybody could get pissed off over this great decision. These new and improved belts look far superior for the champions to hold, than for them to just carry around what is basically four belts and two titles that were supposed to be unified together in the first place. A fantastic move by WWE. I now realize the signature scratch logo is on these belts which I guess defuncts the theory of a new logo which is a shame. i wanted to see a more product related logo for the company. And better yet wanted to see the WWE title get a much needed change in appearance. However if they really wanted too they could still change the design of the WWE title without a new logo, but I maybe doing more than wishful thinking.

I was in favor of a new design for the Unified Tag Team titles.

I liked the ECW belt, I thought a silver belt for a midcard title was a nice look.

These tag title belts are horrendous.

First, copper-on-gold is not a good look. You want something that either contrasts, like a nonmetallic color to show details, or just use one metallic color and make people buy the replica belts to see the details.

Second, the Centurion helmet is a bad move. Tag teams and Roman legions don't have any contact. Just have two wrestlers raising each others' arms in victory. It's not rocket-powered neurosurgery.

Third, there's no nameplate. A title belt should have a nameplate.

Fifth, shouldn't they be the World or Unified or WWE Tag Team Champions? I guess the logo is at the top of the belt.

And sixth, I don't even like the font they used. Can't say why.

That said, there were elements I had no problems with, although they didn't excite me. Round belt plaques are fine, black leather is fine. Not everything has to be original and revolutionary. (Maybe the problem is that they're trying to be original.)

The one thing I actually liked was the WWE sunburst thing, with the scratch-double-W on the sunburst background. THAT could be the next WWE logo, hopefully in better colors.

I don't care what they look like. They aren't "unified" anymore, and there is only 2 of them now. So, whatever. I lost interest in the tag-team division since E and C and The Hardy Boys broke up.

I honestly couldn't give a damn about the current look. I thought the World Tag Team Championship (The red one for those who lost track) looked much better. However it's hard to just unify a pair of belts into one and make one of them the official belt I guess. Didn't think the belts needed a true unification like that however. But I guess WWE didn't agree with me.

They look rather awful however, the whole gladiator thing doesn't really add up. At first seeing them last night I could've sworn it was an awful attempt at making an eagle. Thank god it wasn't, even though it probably would've made more sense with eagles.

First, the good. They finally unified the titles. The four belts were ok, but completely unnecessary. All you need are two belts. Also, its good that they are just called the WWE Tag Team Championship. The two different names was odd and this title seems more official.

Now the design. I'm not a fan of the new design. I get the whole Spartan Gladiator thing, but I dont think it belongs on a belt. I also dont like the copper color. It goes well with the Spartan theme, but I already dont like the Spartan theme. The color makes it seem out of place with the other belts. Also, I'm not really digging the roundness. I know, its weird to complain about the shape, but I dont like it. It seems almost like a medallion instead of a championship belt. I'm sure it will grow on me over the next month or two, but right now I'm not liking the design.

I think the belts look......passable. The new design comes off as boring and really uncreative. A huge pet peeve of mine are belts with nothing but one color on them and in this care, bronze. I feel title belts should have color on them, to bring them to life, not when you look at them, you feel uninspired and bored out of your mind. But I do like the old school feel to it, I think they should have made the 2 gladiators a lot smaller and further away from each other but whatever.

I checked WWE.com title history section and it looks like WWE is continuing with the world tag team title legacy, and it makes sense because that title has waaaaaaay more history than the WWE tag titles that were created in 2002. That I'm really happy about

I don't think this design change is going to bring the division back to life because if WWE didn't care when the titles were unified, why would they care if the belts have a new look. Them being unified was supposed to make the division better, but it didn't happen.

I am going to miss Natayla walking around with 2 titles though, she looked so hot with them

The new tag titles looks more of a toy than a prestigious belt. Comeon its the worst WWE belt I have ever seen. The only thing left is to add a picture of an action figure of it!!

Personally, I like the new look for the tag titles. I think using the helmeted Spartan warriors was an excellent use of symbolism. The Spartans were the badasses of the Mediterranean world for centuries and one reason for that was unity. The same kind of unity is necessary, to watch each other's back and to do everything we can to get the job done and win at the end of the day. Having the helmets face from each other reminds me of a kind of back to back thing. You know, us against the world and all that.

I thought it was creative, certainly not something I've seen before. I'm just glad we didn't get something with eagles or phoenixes or some other kind of bird. The WWE loved to use eagles and I'm glad they went with something different.

What I want to know is the following:

1) Do you like the look of the new belts? (personally I despise the look of them)
2) Are you glad there are only 2 belts instead of 4? (I am very glad )
3) Do you think this change will impact the tag team division in the WWE? (I honestly think there'll be little/no impact)

To answer these three questions I have to say Kids control WWE now, lol.

1) Extremely No, the worst I have ever seen in WWE/F, WCW, or TNA. It looks very childish and cheap. There doesn't feel anything catching or special in this belt. I mean the women's belt was small, but this!! Its just a way to sell it for kids, as the engraving shows it I guess!

2) Yes, but not that much. I always liked when Big show carried two belts other than that it doesn't make a big difference. But now after seeing the two new belts, NO I liked it when they where four, at least it feels like they are champions with some prestige in the belt

3) No, it won't effect it at all. It doesn't even make sense that it will effect it. They didn't even advertise it big time, because in a day all about nexus a new tag title was presented, really that interesting? Even if something is ought to happen, withouth the new belts it won't? It doesn't make sense whatsoever

The belts look strange to me they still have the scribble WWE logo so I guess there not changing logos since these belts are brand new.The tag team division is the weakest its been since 96 when Skip and Zip and The Godwinns were running around the shits terrible so I see no use in "unnifying" tag titles when theres no tag teams.I guess its the right move.

I'm just confused as to how many reigns are now recognized for the Hart Dynasty.....when they were the unified tag champions they were essentially considered 2x tag team champs....does this make them 3x tag team champions?? they only deserve one reign really, not to be considered 3x tag team champions....the belts looked weird at first but theyll stick I guess

i like the idea of one set of belts but my god i think they are the worst looking titles wwe has EVER had dont not like them at all

I'm glad the belts changed, as it was getting ridiculous having a team carry four titles. However I don't understand why they just didn't use one set of the old tag team titles. I'm iffy on the new titles. I'm not really high on them, but maybe they will grow on me. They just look cluttered with the spartan helmets and I'm not sure what that has to do with tag team wrestling. I do however like the color and the fact that the belts are circular compared to our usual championship belt look. I'll give them the thumbs up on that.

I think the spartan helmets represents unity in battle so it symbolizes the tag champs quite well. But im not a fan of the bronze.
