**MERGED** Linda McMahon loses the election: how will it affect WWE?

What if the WWE takes advantage of not only Linda McMahon's failed election bid, but also the influence its had on the WWE product? People complain about the "PG Era" and all the negative influences Linda's campaign were having on the WWE, so why not take those elements and incorporate them into the WWE product by making Linda McMahon a heel much like Vince McMahon did to himself after the Montreal Screw job, by turning real life elements into storyline.

Linda McMahon could once more become a character on WWE tv, now that she's no longer wrapped up in a political life as she's lost her campaign. I can't see her running AGAIN. She could then become a heel character in the WWE who tries to enforce this "PG Era" and control the WWE, while wrestlers, etc, begin to do what the WWE fans have wanted and rebel against that in a more edgier and adult tone. The angle, I think, has a ton of potential and possibility, and could really draw interest from an audience who is looking for more then the PG eraness they've been getting for years now, not to mention it's an angle that covers the entire WWE Universe and can really change that landscape again.

Thoughts on an angle like this?
Should the WWE try to use Linda's failed campaign for the betterment of WWE business?

I think something along these lines is a great idea, although I don’t think it will ever happen. I don’t even think it will even ever be discussed in a writers meeting.

However, in fantasy land, if it did happen Linda would be a terrible to have back on TV, It would have to be Vince playing the major role as ‘PG enforcer’ – he could always act like he’s playing to the whims of another ‘backstage force’ whether it ends up to be Linda or not doesn’t really matter. But having the monotone Linda McMahon back on my TV is something I do not want.

The PG Rating thing had nothing to do w/ Linda's Campaign. It's always been PG since Vince took over from his daddy. Only time period it wasan't was during the CrapTtitude ERA which was all 3 WWF/E, ECW, n WCW included. I acutally prefere the PG stuff as alamost half of the ppl that were in that ERA have died. So all of the ppl who liked that need to grow the F' up.

You are an idiot. WWE was TV-14 from 1998 till 2008 and the PG rating you are talking about was PG-DLV (which was only Smackdown) not PG-V (that WWE is nowadays). Go see the difference. And if WWE wouldn't have gone TV-14 in 1998 WCW would still have been in business instead of WWE. AND "Attitude Era" wasn't WWF,WCW and ECW combined. Attitude Era was an era in WWF not WCW and ECW. Get your facts straight before posting dude.

So, you hate the Attitude Era and anyone who likes it needs to grow up, yet your signature is a quote from one of the creators of the Attitude Era, in an extremely "Attitude Era-ish" segment. Makes sense.

On topic, it would be a fresh angle. It would be entertaining. It would positively affect future storylines. It makes sense, and is what wrestling is all about: blurring lines between fact and fiction.

All of that is to say, the WWE won't do it.

What if she was the wwe board of director that bought back heyman and lesnar to team with punk to try and overthrow VKM? i think that could possibly be a storyline that could work, as though her angle could be she only played nice to the people to get votes and now it's over she wants the wee back the way it was with more "attitude" or something along those lines?

This mostly just sounds like Right To Censor and Palmer Cannon all over again.
Neither of those was really too great although I will say that a friend of mine and I did used to make jokes about Right To Censor stuff.
There was also when Edge was supposed to be rebelling against PG and all the stuff he thought was dumb (like the computer).

I never understand the logic in all posts regarding and bashing the Attitude era. No I don't want the Attitude era and all its smut ridden, and at times downright bizzare story lines back. What I do want is the chance for a story line that may need that extra edge to get itself over to be able to use that style of booking when needed.

Going above PG won't fix a Goddamn thing unless the story itself benefits from it, but keeping everything toned down for the sake of the PG era hurts a lot more than it helps.

There can be a middle ground here folks, it would just take the WWE to stop being afraid of its own shadow to reach it.

Ok first Linda's run was one of the many reasons that WWE went PG. It's the reason WWE did the whole Be a Star campain.

As for the idea of bringing Linda back to the company to ride on already built in heat from real life stuff. I don't think its that far of an outside idea. Vince has done it before. The whole Edge, Matt and Lita stuff as one example.

It wouldn't be the worst idea Vince had. But I don't think Linda would be that great back on TV. She usally comes off as a deer in the head lights when doing something on TV. They would have to have her hide behind people on the board or have a "campain manager" to be the mouth peice.

What I would like to see is Linda coming in and forcing Vince and HHH to try to water down the product even more then it already is. But Vince and HHH, knowing that would kill off the company, start fighting back. HHH is already a built in person to go agenst the figure heads. Maybe even bring back DX for another run. This be a way to slowly phase out the PG Era. Along with DX, they could have Vince do the whole NWO thing, saying if the company is going to go down I am going to bring it down myself. With him bring in more names again. Recruiting people to go agenst Lindas PG enforces. This would lead to WM30 PG vs Attitude, which would have us going back to atleast post Attitude Era style of wrestling.

But what we will probably get is some crap filled storyline with Linda just being a stupid Johny Ace type charecter. With a story that just falls apart and ends up just not going anywhere. Just a way to have Vince cash in on Linda's built in heat and nothing else.

This is all if they even have Linda do anymore WWE Tv or bringing her back to the company at all. It would just be a reminder to Vince that she blew 100 Million Dollors of his money for nothing. Or he may not want to put her through all the hate she will get from the fans (as if she dosnt already). Or she could not even be in the right mindset to be on TV after 2 losses.

never.
after all this crap about seperating linda and wwe, after AW?
if you bring her in again (EVER again, but especially now) you only prove how much you talked out of your *** until now when you insisted that the two were seperate from each other.

I suppose much of it will depend on whether Linda intends to go back to work in the family business.....which of course presumes she hasn't been working there all along, on the sly. Since she began campaigning for her first Senate run, she effectively hasn't had a job at all, instead choosing to travel the state of Connecticut "listening to the people." Now that those people have turned out her bid to represent them, it will be interesting to see how she uses her time.

If she does return to WWE, I suppose they might build a program around her failed Senate campaign; if they aren't afraid to go after Jerry Lawler's near-death experience (if it was, in fact, a near-death experience) then they might choose to use Linda's political experiences as a building block to a new program.

Personally, I can't see it. While management may have no trouble building on the failures/troubles of others, they might not have the same sense of humor regarding Linda's failures. Even worse, rather than cast Linda as a bad guy determined to wreak revenge for her political failures, they might try to make her a good guy, a sympathetic figure who came up short only because the powers-that-be ganged up and cost her the dream of a lifetime. Needless to say, that would be intolerable. I mean......ugh.

My guess is that if she goes back to work for WWE, she'll do it quietly, as a behind-the-scenes CEO.....and we won't see her on TV again. I'd be happy to have it that way, as long as she stays out of the political arena forever.
