**MERGED** Daniel Bryan Heel Turn Discussion- Keep It All In Here!

FlexAmerican Dynamite

WZCW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
So originally I thought to myself after Daniel Bryan cashed in money in the bank somebody is going to turn heel. I originally thought it was going to be Big Show and maybe he still could I think tonight's Raw showed a somewhat indication of that. But after recent weeks we've seen a more cocky, somewhat arrogant Daniel Bryan. I think after this weeks smackdown(which is hopefully better than this weeks raw)we will find out who is heel, But what are your thoughts?

I'd be glad if the Big Show turns heel and contends for the title alongside Mark Henry, but I'd be fine even if it didn't happen (and Show retreats from contention altogether, leaving Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan to lock horns), since Big Show's feud with Mark Henry has reached its climax at TLC, anyway.

That, and an opening for Wade Barrett as title contender beckons. But let me explain myself.

Suppose Mark Henry and Daniel Bryan have a title match at the Royal Rumble. Daniel Bryan does everything he can to knock Mark Henry down but fails - and in comes Wade Barrett to save Bryan's ass, via disqualification or some other means, and so Bryan retains the title. The following Smackdown we see Barrett explaining himself by accusing Bryan as a weak champion, thus setting off a feud for the world title at Wrestlemania.

So there. If there are be any holes in this fantasy booking I've typed, let me know.

I think it's a little strange that it seems like both guys could turn at any moment, but maybe that's what they're going for. Maybe they want it to build and build, with neither guy fully turning, until some definite heel maneuver is done by one of them. Seeing Bryan act like a bit of an asshole on the last Smackdown was surprising, and he seemed to be doing an exaggerated celebration after his win over Cody on Raw earlier tonight. It feels like he's the more likely one to turn right now, character wise at least, though they've teased it with Show as well, seeing how disappointed he was after losing the title. I feel like we may get a full turn from one of them on this next Smackdown, considering their title match might be hard to book with them as faces. Interference by, say, Mark Henry, could change my thoughts on that, but it seems like one of these two needs to turn, otherwise Bryan won't get as over as a face as he could. As a heel, he'd probably get a better immediate reaction, but I'd like to see them keep trying with him for a little longer. I'm fine with either turning, though I can't say who I'd prefer.

It'll be Big Show, especially if the rumors are true with the working idea of facing Shaq at Mania. It's usually better for the wrestler to play the heel considering the celebrity will more often than not get cheered and have fan support outside of our kayfabe land.

Daniel Bryan needs to keep the intensity up but that doesn't necessarily need a heel turn to accomplish. Bryan would gain a lot more by just adapting a persona similar to the whole "rabid wolverine" Benoit used and staying face than going heel.

Sometimes I feel bad for Show. He is one of the nicest guy in the biz and is more than willing to put other guys over but that often leads him to be put in some stupid matches. The sumo match with Akibono, his fight with Mayweather, now a potential match with Shaq which you know he will lose.

It reminds me of the time Bam Bam Bigelow fought and lost to Lawrence Taylor

Bryan should turn heel. Show's too popular at this point. He's more over than Bryan and anyone denying that is being a mark to be honest. As for Shaq, I have no doubt he'll appear at Mania, but WWE could easily have him and Show tag team against Bryan and Henry (which is what I think they will do)

Big Show has been getting louder pops than Daniel Bryan at all the smackdown shows. Turning Daniel Bryan heel would make more sense. Especially given how he won the championship. And he is not getting cheered much at the house shows.

To me it looked at first as if Big Show was turning heel because of it. I hated it. It made no sense. And who needs Big Shows 523rd heel turn? He's had so many heel/face turns that came without so much as an explanation, why give one this time? What a waste. And Daniel Bryan would come out of it looking like a buffoon.

Now, however, after last week's Smackdown and this week's Raw I think it's clear that a heel turn is indeed in the works, but it's Daniel Bryan who is transitioning. This, I must say, I love. He won the title in such a heelish fashion. Hell, I could go and pin an unconscious guy. Hornswoggle could. My mom, would she still be alive, could. Bryan is no real champion. A paper champion. Which sucks if you're a good guy. For a heel, however, it's great heat. I want Bryan to continue to be so damn proud of the belt he stole and I want him to begin showing a really cowardly side, eventually pushing it to the point where even the Miz would look at him in disgust.

I think it's interesting, it looks like Bryan can play a really good arrogant heel ("get your hand off my shoulder", Jericho return like after matches) but I'd love to see a heel Henry/Show tag team. I though it was awesome in the SD main event when Henry was yelling at Show to "get up". They just look like natural partners.

Now that Daniel Bryan is turning heel, A really interesting thought crossed my mind... What's Michael Cole going to do now? is he going to start supporting him, or continue to bash him as he always does? and if he does start cheering him, will existence cease to be?

MODERATOR COMMENTS: Remember, this is a NON-SPAM thread.

I honestly have no idea what Cole will do. But I thought this was a piss-poor heel turn. WWE went about it completely wrong. Bryan should have went over Show and Henry to win over the crowd and then turned when he had them in the palm of his hand.

Cole will start to cheer for him but it wont happen right away. Cole will start to like Bryan. I think it's a stupid thing. I know WWE needed another top dog heel that can actually wrestle everybody unlike Show and Henry, but I thought Bryan and Cole had a good thin going and it could of become a pretty good feud and making Michael Cole something in the WWE.

My Prediction

In the next coming weeks Bryan will come out to the ring and say how Cole was right about him being a failure and a midget. He will talk about how Cole made him a stronger and better wrestler through his brilliant criticism and overtime Cole will most likely start cheering for him.

I don't understand the point of this heel turn. It only makes sense if the plan is to have Sheamus beat Bryan for the title at WM, which leaves nothing for Rhodes or Barret. Not to mention, instead of doing what they should have done, having Bryan getting paranoid and aggressive when it came to the title, like in ROH. Instead he'll be another slimy, wimpy, cowardly heel.

Lame. Been there done that. Let him be aggressive and over excited about his wins. Let him be cocky, but display the skills to back it up. Don't just make him another heel #4 type guy. Heck, let him be like Jericho back in the day. Overconfident and skilled. Best way to go with this, or people won't buy it.

I'll still cheer for him though

Technically he is over exicited about his wins. And who says he will even hold the belt going into Mania. I think he will probably lose the belt by elimination chamber and will be thrown into the MITB. Don't judge his heel run yet until after he loses the belt and we see where he goes from there.

I'm not sure I'd classify what happened on Smackdown as a heel turn. I mean, certainly it was heel-ish, and could be foreshadowing one, but Big Show has also teased a heel turn. I think it could still go either way.

Bryan took the easy way out during his match with Big Show the other night. His actions towards the end of the match reeked of a heel turn, because the attempt for a DQ was so obvious. He looked like a complete tool during his celebration, and this possible heel turn could provide a spark for Bryan's run as World Heavyweight Champion. I've seen glimpses of Bryan as heel on some ROH DVDs I own, and Bryan can be pretty entertaining as a bad guy. Bryan could become a cowardly and obnoxious heel character, and he did show some signs of promise during his celebration. His upcoming turn does have some potential, and Bryan could have a successful run as a heel champion.

Although, the timing of this turn does feel kind of weird. The rumored Big Show VS Shaq match at Wrestlemania 28 could happen, and if this match happens, then Show turning heel could also become a realistic possibility. I'm guessing a feud with Bryan won't last long, and WWE still has two pay per views left before Wrestlemania, so there's still some time left to turn him. The timing of all this feels strange to me, but WWE still has a good amount of time left before Wrestlemania, so turning Show heel at the right moment shouldn't be a problem.

Daniel Bryan last night looked a great heel, I do look forward to seeing how he will transform into a heel, there was also an interview on WWE.com where the WWE.com Exclusive guys were saying to AJ "have you noticed anything different about Daniel Bryan since he won the Championship" this being just after Bryan cut the interview short to go take some pictures, so he is definetly turning heel, but I think they should've made Big Show a heel and made him look more like a monster again, he hasn't made me feel he is a monster since about 2000 really, he hasn't really done anything out of the ordinary, unlike Kane is 2003 (setting JR on fire, electrocuting Shane McMahon testicles), Undertaker (drowning Paul Bearer in cement, and all of the Undertaker's 90's stuff like the Ministry of Darkness) and most recently Mark Henry (destroying everything in his path and the ring) but it will be interesting to see how this one goes..

It's nice for a change that you're not quite sure which guy will do the ol' switcher-roo. Regardless, now it seems apparent that Bryan is the guy facing the boo's from the crowd.

I'm not against it.

He gets a decent pop, but it wasn't breath-taking. He had some merchandise sales, but I'm sure he wasn't raking it in. So, it's a safe switch and it could help his mic skills. His segment on the last Smackdown! with Big Show is some of his best mic work in WWE and his style is perhaps more suited for hurting people then helping himself (which, traditionally, is a heel trait.)

At the very least, it's something new with a guy that could help his stick work out. Regardless, for his fans, it could stretch out his title reign and give him more time to develop the showmanship side of himself. I'm happy about it, to be honest.

I wouldn't call last night a full blown turn. It's almost certainly coming but they went a more suggestive route that does leave a little doubt as to what they're ultimately doing. The heel tendencies are simmering right at the surface without being overt.

Bryan has been displaying more confidence the past couple of weeks, he's done a great job of selling his enthusiasm at being WHC and he gave Big Show a physical, competitive match last night instead of just being tossed around the ring for 2 minutes before some sort of interference took place. They put on a great match, Bryan got in a lot of offense in which he gave as good as he got, he showed that he can deliver a competitive match & entertaining match against the much bigger man and he didn't drop the title as many were worried/expecting to happen. I don't see anything really to complain about.

The ending of the match was designed to definitely give the impression of a full, upcoming heel turn. At the same time, Big Show's heel tendencies have been showing a little during this situation with Bryan. Show has taken Bryan lightly, in spite of what he says, due to his size and it came back and bit him in the ass last night. The ending could also be spun as Bryan getting in Henry's face in the heat of the moment, in frustration since Henry had been talking trash throughout the match. Henry interferred at a point where it looked like it was still anyone's match, therefore neither Bryan or Show looked bad and the end result will probably be a three way dance at the Royal Rumble.

check out big shows reaction to the loss at wwe.com: http://vids.wwe.com/14526/wwecom-exclusive-big-show-reacts

my question is, who's really turning heel here? Big show could just as well get so pissed at DBD, and just beat the shit out of him next week, and I think 50% of the crowd wouldn't mind it. They'd both stay pseudo-faces because of that. Or... Bryan could turn heel by cheating in their next match. Problem with this is: Angry face Big Show>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>angry heel DBD

I'm not too sure. I smell a swerve coming, for a couple of reason. Which I shall outline right... now!

The thing is, a cheating, obnoxious heel doesn't play to Daniel Bryan's strengths. He's good at it, no doubt. Hell, he's really good at it. But he's exceptional in the ring, as well as being naturally passionate. Those attributes wouldn't come out if he was a coward, and that would be a shame. Daniel Bryan will always be best as the aggressive underdog, like Benoit. I believe that WWE sees that, too.

Big Show is supposed to be wrestling some guy called Shaq at Wrestlemania. That would make a Show heel turn an absolute lock as 95% of the time, celebrities in WWE are faces.

I think (and hope) that this is just Bryan trying to rile the Big Show. Big Show then turns heel (remember Bryan's heel turn isn't official) by beating the smaller guy senseless. Bryan then explains that he was just "trying to get the best out of him". Bish, bash, bosh. You've got a Daniel Bryan at his best, a heel Big Show for Shaq and an entertaining angle to start the year with.

I doubt any one will sift through three pages here and read my post but heres how I think this can play out and make Bryan one of the WWE's biggest heels today.

I would play the arrogant cocky champion thing all the way to mania and I would even have him only win by cheating or getting disqualified all the way to mania as well. This would be great for playing off the "super talented technical wrestler who can take on any one" character hes been so far here in the WWE by almost proving the opposite to get him over as a heel. The whole build up to mania would be the announcers and his opponents pointing out how hes only winning by these underhanded deeds and him pointing out how hes the champion and should be respected. Add on the stipulation at mania that if either person is disqualified Bryan loses his title and it would add a huge extra dynamic to the match where Bryan who has been cheating for months now has to win clean to keep his title.

At mania I would have Bryan win with the submission, run over and grab his title and just walk to the back. No posing, no promo, none of this "YES YES YES" stuff we've been getting. The next friday I would have some one try to interview Bryan and have Bryan say that hes proven that hes a real champion and that if any one wants a statement from him they'll need to speak to his new manager. In walks William Regal. Regal as Bryan's manager could work out to be the best paring we've seen in years and given the real history the two have together it could set up for some incredible moments.

Im very excited to see heel Bryan and hope hes given a manager, it could revive the whole manager aspect in the WWE.

When "DB's" World Heavyweight Championship run it seemed like Daniel Bryan was going to be a big time babyface...

But recently on Raw Supershow and Smackdown... Daniel Bryans character has done a complete 360 has been showing signs of Overconfidence, (Healthy) narcissism and arrogance. He's been acting like a prick to everybody basically making excuses getting a bit of a heel reaction (check out Smackdown tonight).

He looks like he's slowly turning heel just like 2 1/2 years ago BM Punk (Copying The Rock) was he was still a face but began acting weird and we all could sense a possible heel turn but was still a face.

I've never watched ROH but from what I hear DB is an amazing heel so I guess I'm quite excited but I enjoyed his "underdog superhero" persona.

Do you think Show will stay face 100 percent?

I've been enjoying this feud so far Big Show is always entertaining and DB's mic skills have improved.

So I have a few questions for you...

1) Thoughts on DB as a Heel?

2) Thoughts on Big Show as a face in the feud?

3) With the rumours if they're true can both Shaq and Big Show both face off as faces (Like Big Show vs Akebono)

4) Who do you think would make for a more entertaining heel?

I just remembered I have maybe one or two more question..

5) Anybody remember this match? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7k7oAJGLXY

Let's just say the WWE decides to keep The Big Show as a babyface and that DB finally turns full fledged heel. Do you think it would be suitable to have this kind of match? A Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match!

Because think about it, A gimmick match would be the only way for Big Show and for Daniel Bryan to have an entertaining match.

Daniel Bryan and Big Show are both completely different when it comes to wrestling styles.

Daniel Bryan is a submission specialist and he is very technically sound as a in ring wrestler. Big Show is a 7ft almost 500 pound giant he is a powerhouse he will dominate all of his opponents. Having DB and Big Show have regular one on one matches don't seem to make much sense because I doubt that they will be able to have a decent or at that even an okay match.

Let's look at the situation also here.. Mark Henry would play the Kurt Angle guy in the feud (Because chances are at RR it will be a triple threat for the WHC). Let's say Big Show dominates him and then DB takes out Big Show somehow and pins Mark Henry. With Big Show not yet receiving a fair World Heavyweight Championship match opportunity. Teddy announces Big Show vs Daniel Bryan for the World Heavyweight Championship in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match. They obviously feud with DB being the heel with a full heel persona of course and The Big Show could hype the night to be his "REAL time to hold the World Title in his 10 year World title drought. The turning point of the match could even be Sheamus because chances are he will be in the SD Main Event of the WHC match. They could have Sheamus somehow get involved with him attacking DB on SD because DB can somehow talk trash about him.

The good thing about this match is this could also solidify (if they decide to turn him heel) it could solidify DB's heel persona with him having a genius way of winning the match and not beating The Show clean.

So with that....

6) Should that match happen?

7) If you don't believe it what kind of gimmick match could Show and DB have if they continue the feud till EC?

8) Should Show ever capture the WHC from DB and should DB hold the title till Mania?

9) Should a guy like Sheamus get involved?

10) What do you think of my ideas?

Please and thanks for taking time to read this thread!

Not a fan of that idea, but then again, my idea is pretty simple. Let David conquer Goliath at the Rumble and move on. The Big Show and Mark Henry are two of the most boring superstars, and while the idea of DB overcoming the big men is a nice story, they just keep dragging, and dragging, and dragging it out and I'm so sick of this feud now.
