**Merged** Bitch about commentary here

Cole does half of what a heel announcer is supposed to do, he annoys the heck out of you and makes you want to punch him in the face. The other half he fails at though. A heel announcer is supposed to be clever or funny which Cole just isn't(atleast on Raw). He's just annoying for the sake of being annoying.

It is disappointing too because I was getting sick of the all face announcing team but Lawler should have have been the one to go heel because he is actually good at being a heel announcer, hence why people like him.

I will say this though, Cole is pretty good on NXT if only because he says what we're all thinking.

I don’t mind Cole being a heel, but I think he’s going about it wrong. Bashing Daniel Bryan is fine. It makes sense considering Bryan’s indy history and IWC following. I think this is the only time Cole is entertaining. I thought his burial of the Hart Dynasty last night was terrible. Cole is pretty much shining a spotlight on certain guy’s weaknesses and while some IWC fans may find humor in that ultimately I don’t think it’s a good idea. Ventura and Heenan were great heel announcers. They would criticize The Ultimate Warrior for his unorthodox behavior. That was fine. The way Cole is going right now he would criticize Warrior for being a sloppy worker in the ring. See the difference?

I do. Ventura is one of my favorite heel announcers of all time. I just don't think its funny or cool or whatever to insult all face wrestlers like Cole is doing. Ventura didn't blatently point out bad workers in the ring, or guy who needed mic work. I think Cole doing this on live TV is doing nothing aside from making them look bad.

Michael Cole's heel turn for me is pointless, and just exploits what a terrible announcer the man really is.

Let me run it down here. I've already said how bad I hate Cole lately and think he sucks beyond belief as a face or heel. He's a terrible announcer plain and simple. Yeah he's trying to be the heel announcer but here's the list of a couple heel announcers.

Jerry Lawler (At one point), Jesse Ventura, Bobby Heenan. They all were announcers and were the heels but at least what they said was clever, entertaining, funny and actually worth something. The way Cole has gone about it, it's like he's desperate to make himself come off as a heel because he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. Half the time last night it was like Jerry Lawler wanted to tell him to shut up. I been saying I'm looking forward to NXT tonight because it's the first one without Cole and anyone would be better than him.

I am enjoying Cole's heel persona but I have to say Cole really ripped the Hart Dynasty apart last night. I don't know what he was trying to accomplish there but he really made the Hart Dynasty look bad. Smith and Kidd were at a lost for word, but I guess it does show how bad they are at the mic. Why WWE and Cole did this I don't understand.

Haha, I loved it. I hope Cole starts insulting every face like that, including Cena. He still supports some faces. And he showed some decency on Raw when he didn't approve of the Miz humiliating Bryan.

It could be seen as tough love, helping the bland faces like the Harts improve on the mic, forcing them to defend themselves. Tyson Kidd and David Smith showed some personality for the first time, in response to Cole's criticism, in taking shots back at him.

Cole took heat for years for being a goofy but nice nerd, and now he is entering full jerk mode. It's as if to say, if you (the audience and especially IWC) hate me as a face, then I'll stop being nice and give you a good reason to hate me. Every time he gets more intense with his heel persona, like with the Harts, he gets an incredible reaction from most of the posters on here, and it's quite funny to me at least.

J.R. is no doubt a better commentator than Michael Cole. I mean, who can make commentary more dramatic than J.R.? And Michael Cole needs to get rid of his "Vintage" thing. I mean really, if a move done is a wrestler's trademark, than just say so.

Everyone is on Michael Coles case saying that he is the worst announcer in WWE history and should be replaced from the announce table on Monday Night Raw. But i have to say that they have it all wrong and the person that should be removed is Jerry Lawler. Lawler adds very little insight to matches, he shows no emotion during matches, and doesn't watch Smackdown so when wrestlers from Smackdown appear on Raw he has no information to portray to the fans. Right now Michael Cole is doing a fantastic job as a heel announcer during mid card matches and during main event bounts he is very emotional and gets you highly immersed in the match. The way he was yelling and pleading to the ref that it was a hit and run on Cena at Hell in a Cell brought back memories of when J.R would do the same about Austin or Rock. The IWC is hating on Cole and Praise Lawler because Lawler was around in the "attitude era" and because he was great then he can now coast and do a piss-poor job and still have your respect.

I agree. I was actually gonna post somthing about this but I'm glad someone feels the same way I do. I mean come on... what really is wrong with Cole? He hypes matches, he plugs all things WWE, he has a decent knowledge of wrestling and is playing a semi-heel anouncer at the moment. He is in my opinion one of the better announcers in pro wrestling and I honestly do not understand all of the hate he recieves.

I was very young during the 'Attitude Era' so don't remember much of it except from what I have seen from research and some vague memories but Jerry Lawler was'nt all that special to begin with. J.R was the voice of WWE and Lawlaer was just there to talk about 'puppies' and hate on 'Faces' with no merit towards it what so ever. From what I remember he just used to insult the good guys for just being good then praise them randomly when they turned 'Heel'.

But that's just my opinion.

Cole is getting better though I see him as a bad announcer still. The heat he got with the segment with Edge was great though if you pay attention to this and watch his facial reactions to everything edge was saying it's almost as if he took everything personally even before Edge did insult Cole. Cole isn't ever gonna reach Bobby the Brain status as a heel announcer but with the King there helping he might beable to pull it off. My opinion on Cole has not changed. At live events in my area I still boo him. the whole 'May i have your attnetion plz' and 'And I quote' are annoying. The heels are getting cheers when Cole does that. First Jericho and now Edge.

I disagree. Cole is horrible. He has spent months flipping back and forth from face to heel and now that he is a true heel its like he can't stay in character. One minute hes singing the praises of Miz and the next hes sympathizing with the situation Cena is in. I don't buy it. The Cena situation especially bothers me because its a perfect opportunity to talk up Barrett and its being wasted. Instead of Cole saying how hard it must be for Cena, how much would it help the Wade Barrett character to have Cole side with him? That would just be extra heat that Barrett kinda needs right now.

Maybe I'm just a Cole hater, but until he finds a character and sticks with it, I can't even begin to take him seriously.

I don't think anyone doubts his announcing skills. I think they're terrific, my gripe lies with his goddamn voice and the way he plugs shit. I can't stand the way he sounds when he's talking about something serious, or when he's calling a match, or when he's doing the whole "brought to you by" bit. His voice just drives me nuts. And listening to Striker every pay-per-view only reminds me how much better he is than Cole, despite Cole being there for about 8 more years.

I think a similar conversation came up like this a while back.

If you want my honest opinion, Lawler signed out a very long time ago. He barely makes any effort whatsoever – the only thing he seems to do is say stuff like ‘that’s gotta be the biggest attitude adjustment I’ve EVER seen’, only to say exactly the same thing with a different move later in the show. He did this at wrestlemania about 5 times and it was so obvious and lazy. About the only good thing he ever does is cuss Striker on PPV’s and even then it’s hardly hilarious like his work in the 90’s. Lawler was an amazing heel commentator back then and he was equally good when he took to the ring.

Cole has improved a lot and he seems to have filled to void JR left pretty well imo. Seems like he is getting much more latitude from Vince to say what he wants too. He doesn’t seem to be making loads of moronic comments like he was a few months ago.

But yeah, Lawler sucks at the moment. Someone mentioned to me the other day it’s got something to do with the fact he is already receiving his WWW pension and doesn’t feel the need to work properly anymore. Don’t know how much truth there is in that though.

The only thing I don't like about Cole is how often he repeats everything. After a while the "The longest running weekly television show" line at the start of every raw gets on my nerves. So does the whole I have received another e-mail, but thats the point is for him to get heat for that. Lawler I haven't cared about since JR left. I loved the classic heel lawler. Him going crazy for "puppies" and sucking up to Triple-H was priceless

I can't believe I registered just to reply to this. However, I felt the need to explain how I viewed Cole's 'sympathy' (as you like to call it) towards John Cena. I'm pretty sure you are recalling when Cole kept saying John Cena should stay in the ring and fight. My friend was wondering why he was siding with Cena on the situation he is in, but actually it's Cole's heelish announcing that is saying "stay in the ring and fight so you can get fired." Very clever, Cole. I don't mind him at all as an announcer.

Yup i agree. Cole isn't the problem. he wasn't the problem when he was plain old cole either. he is better now but still he wasn't the problem when he was the regular geeky cole. Its been lawler forever. the only thing the guy does is hate on cole. seriously, he doesn't call the match.

I know its not actually lawler, but whoever is telling him crap to say is terrible lol.

Ppl will always hate on michael cole because he isn't jr.. sure i would much prefer Jr as well. but hey MC is THE BEST replacement. I like cole's voice better than Joey Styles.. even if styles is better. JS has too much of a high pitch voice for raw. and surely none of you would want no names like todd and striker??

I think Vince Mcmahon would be a good choice for the announcer.. but that wouldn't happen either. so like i said Michael cole is the best replacement. and he has done a damn good job taking JRs place. Im glad he has the haters. he is known now more than ever in his career.

Agree he isn't the worst announcer in the history of WWE but i'll tell you who is:

Matt Stryker... get this baboon's arse off SD! ffs, he annoys me so M U C H. <-- I think thats the announcer on SD that talks through everything... lol I normally dont care about announcers.

I agree. Can't stand that guy! i like todd better than that dude.

I liked one thing from striker and i can't even remember what it was... it was something halfway funny but can't remember.. he said something that was funny/heel..

lol are you guys crazy striker is classic man and he actually class the moves as they are even if hes i little over the top and if you see lately he has gotten completely on the side of nexus now that's a good heel announcer there if i do say so myself. And the issue of Michael Cole i dont mind him really i would just like him to make up his mind and make the full heel turn because heel is GOOD!!!

If anyone thinks Jerry Lawler sucks, just remember his glory days and then you wont think he sucks. the PG era is making his jokes more family friendly, he no longer says "puppies" anymore, i think he did a good job yesterday making fun of Cole whenever Cole got a big head and they should do that more, have King make fun of Cole if he acts up, for example, whenever he calls Bryan a nerd, King should remind him of what past wrestlers did to him.

I agree that Michael Cole does get a lot of undeserved hate. When it comes to calling the action, I think he does a great job overall. In my opinion, Cole has been pure gold over the course of the past 6 months or so. He's not entirely a heel, but he's far closer to it than any other commentator going right now and I think he's done a great job.

A lot of people still see Cole as the guy that replaced Jim Ross. I love JR and always will, but Jim Ross' priorities have changed and I think it's time people moved on to some degree. He's getting older and he's had some health problems particularly over the past year or so. I think he's due to actually have surgery performed on his heart soon? Jim Ross is the best in the business in my opinion, I don't know if there'll be anybody that will be half as good as him, but the world has to keep on spinning and Cole's done a good job.

Mike Cole is the man. Like he said..."He is the voice of the WWE".

You don't have to like it. But there it is. JR can no longer do the job.

You see, the problem with the majority of Cole haters is that they live in the past. JR is the past. King is the past. I would put money down that they are the same people who cannot stop talking about Rock and Austin or how PG sucks, or how Cena and only Cena has 5 moves, or how the Cruiserweight Title should be reinstated, or how 44 year old Bill Goldberg needs an automatic title shot, or that Christian is main event material.

You guys need to pick up your pants from around your ankles, hike them up, and act like a big boy and move on.

Color commentators in the WWE have always been ex-wrestlers. Lawler stinks at color commentating. Color commentators provide expert analysis and background information. Does he do that? No he does not. That is what Matt Striker does and does very well. Whomever said it before was right...Jerry Lawler checked out a long time ago. As for his glory days, they ended in the early 90s. It's 2010.

Move on. Mike Cole is a dynamic personality. He doesn't stumble when he speaks, he looks comfortable, and sounds passionate when he speaks. Doesn't matter if you hate him or love him. He is good at what he does and you will hear his voice for a looooooooong time.

You all do realize that by booing him you're just reinforcing the fact that he's a heel right...By doing that same stuff over and over again you boo a HEEL, a person who's meant to be booed.

I love the new heel Michael Cole. Let's face it it, his character was boring. He wasn't getting any reaction at all. Now he's getting a reaction out of people. People want to come to events to boo him. He's doing his job perfectly and has become randomly one of the biggest heels on Raw at the moment.

Personally, I would love if Matt Striker came over from Smackdown and became a face announcer or Josh Matthews, who has become a great announcer on NXT, cameand replaced The King's spot behind the desk of the flagship show. I think either would be a great complement to Cole and really could drive home the fact that he's a heel.

This is my beef with the IWC...they bitch and complain about certain ppl and storylines for months, and then when it shows some sign of an improvement, here comes the IWC like "oh well maybe it isnet so bad afterall" (ex.Michael Cole, John Cena). Either that or you'll be totally and completely behind somewun and then somewun will make a negative post on that person, then all of a sudden they are boring and over rated (ex. Randy Orton, Nexus). gimmie a break.

Michael Cole is a tool, he's always been a tool and will forever be a tool. I cant stand him as an announcer, he doesnt know whether he wants to be heel or face, and his voice is just annoying. Another thing that bothers me is the fact that hes talkin all this shit about daniel bryan n r truth and others as if not too ago he wasnt getting bitched out by the likes of tazz, jbl, and pretty much the entire wrestling roster. Ill admit he can cut a decent, heat drawing promo when the time calls for it, but as an annoucer he's trash. period

As far as Jerry Lawler goes, he is a COLOR COMMENTATOR. The play by play is Michael Cole's job and its lawlers job to feed off what Cole is saying and go from there. If the play by play isnt good, Lawler has nowhere to go. Why do you think he was soooo much better when JR was around? Then you have Vince who wants them to be more of sports type commentators who arent yelling and screaming n stuff, that takes away from Lawlers character, thus impacting his annoucing. in my opinion, its not a matter of lawler not being a good annoucer, its just that his very limited

I don't have a problem with either one of the Raw announcers. It isn't Lawler's fault that he can't do the jokes he used to. That is the PG era fault.

Reagrding Cole yeah sometimes that annoys me that why he is praising undercard heels like the Miz and the next minute he is feeling sympathy towards John Cena or talking great about Randy Orton. It makes no sense unless he is a twenner of some sort.

Another thing Edge is now a Face if you guys haven't been paying attention.
