Matt Morgan Buries the IWC

Dude I think you need to go listen to him again...He is not specifically talking about himself, He is talking about all wrestlers, he even mentions a few others. Matt's point was that people without the credentials or knowledge to have an educated opinion on wrestling fill the internet with bs, one sided, biased opinions that they cant justify. I agree with that. He barley talks about his own matches but i guess you turned on your IWC hate Morgan headphones so that is all you heard.

Then why does he sound so butthurt?

You think he did this to stick up for the guild? That he didn't have a vested interest in saying all of these things?

Because the way I see it, he has more of a vendetta than I do. And it seems like you're blindly sticking up for a guy who's work you've never even seen

How am I standing up for his work? at no point did i mention his work or TNA. I agree that if you don't have the experience, knowledge, or credentials to form an educated, non biased opinion than you shouldn't be on the internet doing so. That goes for everything: movie reviews, restaurant reviews, sports, wrestling or whatever. I personally am not entertained by TNA therefore I don't watch it but neither do I go on the internet and bash it. It doesn't matter if Matt is a good wrestler or not because he has a valid point. I've also heard CM Punk say something similar but I bet you guess wouldn't dare bash him for it.

And therein lies the difference;

I'm not entertained by Matt Morgan

I think he sucks

I'm going to express my opinion.

Really; you're taking this far too seriously. What do you care if we're ripping on wrestlers and wrestling? If we're really as insignificant as Matt Morgan says, why even pay any attention to it.

Face it; Jon Moxley says it, and it's true. You make a living in your underwear, making mean faces.

Lighten up, mate. It's supposed to be fun. So what do you care? Because we don't have "credentials"?

Cool. But you're still taking it too much to heart

I didn't take anything to heart, I just agreed with the guy. As a wrestler I understand where he is coming from. Im in the gym everyday working my ass off and putting my body on the line so some fat, out of shape, non athletic idiots can sit at ringside and use insider terms like botch, ring psychology, technical wrestler, squash match etc. I go out there to entertain and because I love wrestling but some people( IWC members ) show up just to bash the wrestlers and the product which ruins the show for everybody and makes nobody want to be there including the wrestlers.

The bolded words would indicate you do take it quite personally.

Listen, I don't think anyone here is saying it isn't difficult to wrestle. But why take it seriously if we think you suck? If you love wrestling, great; just have fun with it. Fans love wrestling, too. And even if you think they're uneducated opinions, they're still going to be expressed.

Again, we get it; the athletic guild, busting your ass, etc. but none of that changes, because of a few people on the Internet. Seriously, if you're in the public eye, and have that thin a skin, you probably deserve to get some shit

I described the people, how is that me taking it personally? I dont have thin skin, as a heel it actually helps when people do that because it makes me look better. My point is that it ruins the show for the kids and everybody else that just came to see some good old fashion wrestling. If you love something you dont bash it, complain about it, and try to make the people that are there to entertain you look stupid. I got into it with a guy a couple months back because he was in the parking lot after the show saying that we sucked, it was boring, and we couldnt wrestle. Which doesnt make sense since we have former WWE and TNA wrestlers on our roster. But I told him if you didnt like it then dont come back. The following week he was back in the front row, doing the same thing. He got taken out the building and he got his money back after the first match. Its really sad that people do stuff like this

Because you're making broad generalizations of a group of people, and making it seem like you have a personal grudge with those people?

I dont have thin skin,

Nah, you kinda do, just like Matt Morgan.

My point is that it ruins the show for the kids and everybody else that just came to see some good old fashion wrestling.

The WWE is a bonafide juggernaut. They just had the highest grossing wrestling event in history, and kids hand over money by the truckload every year.

I doubt you're catching any children falling over the rye cliffs.

If you love something you dont bash it, complain about it, and try to make the people that are there to entertain you look stupid.

Ebert was critical of movies. Guess he didn't love movies

Great; adds to your paycheck.

I fail how to see this as a problem. Sure, he was a dick, but he's still paying. And you may not like it, but he keeps putting money to your promotion, and it makes your paycheck bigger

So you dont see how people bashing you entire product while attending your event is bad for business? You sir should take some business classes

Are they still paying top dollar to come to your shows?

Better question; have your houses shown a dip in attendance, because of said fans?

The truth is, you're still getting your money. The WWE had been making bank for years with a vocally loud crowd that bashes their product. Trust me; it's really not near as bad as you think

Oh, he mad.

Did he actually resort to that kind of childish name calling? Calling people who use the internet 'fat virgins'? Matt, i get laid, frequently, i've also watched enough wrestling to know how dispensable you are as a talent. I'd imagine that the majority of us don't know exactly how backstage wrestling politics work, but we can rate talent. We can tell when your matches suck and when your promos suck. Don't like what people are saying about you? Then maybe you should get better, impress them and change their minds. No one owes you praise for your 'athleticism' or because of your communication degree.

He has an inflated sense of self worth, a low intelligence and incredibly thin skin for someone with a job in the entertainment industry.

So if I love something, yet feel it has it's flaws and problems, I should just ignore those flaws and problems and hope they go away right? Wrong. If you love something you don't ignore it's flaws, you point them out and offer advice on how it can be fixed. Now I'm not going to sit here and say that is all the IWC does because we both know there are plenty of times when it is just childish bitching and for those moments just ignore it, but there are also plenty of times where people are giving honest criticism of a promotion or a performer and frankly even if you feel that it is unwarrented or unneeded, dismissing or insulting those that offer it is even worse than those that are flat out bashing the product for the hell of it.

As far as what Morgan is saying, it's an age old arguement of experience vs research. Now not to say every guy who runs his mouth on the internet does good research but there are plenty who live, study, and research this business just as much, hell even more, than Morgan does. Just because they are not a part of any promotion doesn't instantly invalidate any and everything they say about it. He doesn't have to like it, but frankly if he wants to be in the public eye like he is, he should definatlly get some thick skin and learn to deal with it.

Completely agree with him, and it's safe to say he is speaking the truth and has hit a nerve with many on here. Well done to him for speaking out against the armchair critics. Empty vessels with no real knowledge are an absolute cancer, not only to the industry but to the actual definition of the IWC. I abhor the term IWC still being used so often in this day and age. It holds such a loose value in a time when probably over 90% of wrestling fans are now on the internet and using these wrestling sites on a daily basis.

Everything he mentions is on display within this site. The rise of the empty vessel know it all is evident with various writers on here. But even then i give them a let off, as they atleast show their faces and stand to be accounted for. The worst is the faceless brains on these messageboards who give abuse from a position of complete outsider. And usually are just cranky ald morons with their own bitter axe to grind. I see some knowledgeable on here is deeming Matt Morgan a failure, which i find laughable. If he is a failure, says alot about the industry as a whole. go and ask some actual wrestlers if they think Morgan goes down as a failure. And whilst you are at it, try flogging one of your amazing storylines mr.armchair booker, has i'm sick of hearing peoples god awful ideas. There are some pretty dire writers and bookers up and down pro-wrestling/wwe. but hey, they got to the dance.

You just described yourself. Who are you to judge anyone?... talk about "faceless brains"

Firstly, this interview is likely several years old, and the DVD is being re-released now with a "special edition" - it's had many, released all over the world since I believe 2009. Some of the interviews go back as far as 2005 if I remember correctly.

The point I'm making is, a lot of wrestlers are - and some still are - very much against the internet until quite recently. Until Twitter happened, and people realized you can get yourself over and shill your crap on social media. That promoters will pay you more by the size of your followers or Facebook likes. And you can't really blame them - most wrestling fans online are assholes. Most people with an opinion online are assholes. There's not much room for discussion; it's all about one guy trying to force his views on people - if they don't accept it, they're suddenly the douchebag "noobs" with small penises.

It is unreal to me that people, and when I say people I mean a LOT of people, think it is acceptable behavior to go on the internet, go to a wrestler on Twitter, and say terribel things about them. It's just stupid. You wouldn't ever walk up to somebody like Matt Morgan on the street and tell him he's bland and works "typical big man matches", because you'd be scared the giant would kick your ass all over town and back. ANd because, in real life, most people understand common decency and manners. But for whatever reason, on the internet, those things don't exist. It's totally acceptable to be a complete asshole, and those that are will probably never even accept the reality that they are, in fact, terrible people.

Now, I've talked with Morgan a few times. He's a pretty cool guy, if you're not a total asshole. He's gone out of his way a few times to message me and tell me he liked one of my columns or opinions. Most guys don't do that, so he can't really be that bad. But think about it - the internet is not kind to Matt Morgan. Imagine your entire career, and having everyone on the internet say stupid things like "typical big man" or "bland" at you everywhere you look. How would you react to that? Probably not with as much class as Matt Morgan.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!!!! If you love something than you accept an live with its flaws. I love my wife but if I talked about her flaws everyday, like people do with wrestling, than I would probably be getting a divorce. People on here talk like they love pro wrestling but hate the wrestling promotions and that doesn't make sense. Thats like saying I love football but hate the NFL. My thing is that if you don't like something, and it has enough flaws that you have to point them out every two seconds, than don't watch it. If a movie critic bashes a movie, they probably wont watch it again. If a restaurant critic bashes a restaurant they probably wont eat there again. If the IWC bashes wrestling they will continue to watch it just to bash it some more

Who is this Matt Morgan? Is he an usher or ref in some bad indy promotion? Does he need some part time work, because i have a backyard that needs to be cut... Surely he can not be a wrestler with those piss poor mic skills....

I sure as hell wouldn't want you for a friend if that is how you really feel. Here is something to take home, people make mistakes sometimes they know what they are and sometimes they don't. As a friend/family member/person who cares about them you should be more than capable of discussing that with them. There is a difference in "Hm WWE ratings are constantly down why could that be" brainstorming that leads to things like "they haven't built any real stars outside of Cena/Punk" and "they haven't pulled the trigger when people where at their hottest giving them a shot, see Ryback/Ziggler" or "they keep depending on past stars and that is diminishing their current ones."

None of those types of statements are malicious, in fact what they are is honest and legit criticism of a product that has been on a down turn, and a state of purpetual stagnation.

To put this into terms of your relationship with your wife, of course I don't know her or you and this is completely random but it should get the point across, it would be like her wondering "why do I keep gaining weight" to which you could respond "you eat a lot of ice cream" or "you haven't set aside any time to exercise" etc etc. Again nothing malicious simply honest observations that can be easily made. If something like that would cause you to get divorced then you might wanna take a look at your relationship.

This is what I am talking about. I'm not talking about the random people who say crap like "wrestler X sucks on the mic and is boring" that type of crap is irrelevent useless drivvil that frankly no one, least of all a professional wrestler like Matt Morgan, should be paying attention to or giving a crap about.

If you have an issue with people presenting legit criticism of a product that they care about though, you really need to wake up and learn how improvements are made, because EVERY SINGLE IMPROVEMENT EVER MADE IN ANYTHING starts with someone saying "there is a problem and this is what it is."
