Magnus: In Limbo?

Anti-IWC-Marks

Occasional Pre-Show
Most of the guys on top end of TNA have a path or direction going right now.

Roode is going right at Lashley
Aries and Young are after MVP
The X Division wrestlers are all competing
Bully and Devon are mixing it up with the Hardys and Wolves.
James Storm is mentoring Sanata
Gunner and Sam are in a story with Anderson

And even Brahm and Abyss have their own "who is more extreme" challenges.

This leaves Magnus in an odd place right now. Directionless. Initially, Brahm was brought in to bring Magnus out of his "Clean, Dixie-led" character and back to his "original roots". However, now that Abyss and Brahm are fueding over the love of Janice, Magnus is just.. there.

Let me just say that right before AJ Styles left the company, his fued with then-champion Magnus was very good in my opinion. Magnus is great on the mic, and played the aristocracy champion quite well.

However, now that Brahm is supposedly "freeing" him, a change in look is needed. Magnus should ditch the clean shaven look. Big beard, bushy hair, it'd completely change the concept of his character.

But, where should Magnus go from here? Is he legitimate to make another run at the title? Perhaps an Impact showdown with Lashley?

This, my friends, is where the TV Title would best come into play. A long Magnus TV Title reign would keep him in the spotlight of legitimacy. Abyss could go for the TV Title, and Brahm could keep using Janice to screw him.

But as for now, Magnus is just.. in limbo.

I think that he's fine where he is, helping A newly debuted Brahm get over. He was champion for a while and he had a whole program where he "turned back" into the old Magnus, so they're biding their time.

Not to indict you, but I think a problem with a lot of fans today is that if someone isn't getting used at the moment, then they are being wanted or misused or in "limbo"; however, TNA only produces 2 (1.5 with commercials) hours of TV. They can't use everyone every day. And since storylines take time to progress, those 2 hours can be booked up for weeks or months in advance for some stories. Magnus will be back in no time, and I hope you're right and he has a long program with Lashley.

From what I can tell, Brahm is full of charisma, and doesn't much need Magnus to get over. In fact, it hurts Brahm that he needs a partner to confront Abyss. TNA has a long history of pitting two madmen against each other, and it usually provides an extreme hardcore fix. However, once you add a partner coming to the ring, it's not quite as "mano-y-mano", and it cheapens the feel... that's just my opinion.

I get what you're saying here. The difference is, I'm not complaining about Magnus not being used. He's being used, as he's on TV every week with Brahm. The things is he's not remotely part of anything going on between Brahm and Abyss.

There would of course be multiple easy ways to include Magnus... but for now, he's just "there". It stood out to me. He's not underutilized as a whole, but in this storyline he's oddly not being addressed.

His title reign was terrible and I don't think he's recovered since. I don't see any way back to the main event for Magnus at the minute.

well Magnus' title reign was awful (not his fault though), but my guess he he will continue to help get Brham over and then (my hope) is that he and Brham eventually chase after the TNA Tag Team Championships and eventually win them. Magnus is a fine tag team wrestler and i love Brham's character.

Yes I admit Magnus' title reign was horrible if anything because of the fact that he was a cowardly champion but also because of just how he defended his title on a daily basis always having to resort to Dixie's cronies coming out during his matches to protect his sorry ass, but at the same time I predict Magnus to have another main event run soon enough because he is young so he has a lot of time on his hands but just who could he realistically feud with right now?
