Somewhere inside the mess of this election lies a valuable lesson -- honesty trumps hard work. Don't walk on eggshells because you think it'll upset someone, just speak your fucking mind. Coco does it and he's by far the most popular candidate in this whole election. His total disregard for what people think of him is what got him here, certainly not the fact that he's a people pleaser. JGlass' endorsement of Coco helped me realize this, but it also made me take a look at the election as a whole.
The ABC Party, with as many good posters as they have, won't win. They can be the hardest workers around, for all the voters care. Their 50 members won't do as much as Killjoy thinks. Riddle me this, Killjoy: What happens when your team has to trim the fat and choose one candidate? What if it's someone that you think you're miles ahead of? You (if you aren't the pick), just like every loser, will have that nagging little thought in the back of your head. Eventually, it'll boil over. Your party is one live grenade, just waiting to go off. This isn't me being sour that you have more members, it's the truth. Look at the David French party -- they're all completely loyal to Coco. There is no second candidate and he knows it. Coco is sitting back on his ass just waiting for everybody around him to explode, but he knows that won't happen to his party.
I'm all for pursuing modship, I'm going for it myself, but my non-span posts won't get me that. If that were the case, TWJC, LJL, Ruthless-RKO, and Dagger would have been moderators long ago. It's about more than that, especially in this election... Where it all comes down entertainment value. Coco has that, but nobody else does. I don't want to be a sheep, I don't want to spew the generic "I'm here to help" line any longer. As helpful as I can be, it doesn't matter. It's been obvious from day one, this doesn't favor your non-spam "legends." Tear somebody a new one, people, because there's competition all around you. Coco's a dick, but at least he's smart about how he does it. I may not want him to win, but the people watching him dissect his competition sure do.
Sly said it right off the bat; this is a popularity contest. You have to stand out, because supporters won't just come out of the woodwork. People have criticized me, my own teammate in fact, but I understand it. They're speaking they're mind and just don't give a shit what I think. That's the name of the game, politics is a bitch. It's funny, I remember feeling excited for this election, then Coco made that thread about me and I realized what this was going to turn into. He fired the first shot, but he won't fire the last. It's time for me, along with every other candidate, to start doing OUR part. You want honesty, well here goes:
I came to this forum with no intention to stay. I logged on a few times and grew to like it. Before I knew it, I was a regular. Blue Cardinal, Angel, tdigle and I were sitting back in The Cage having a grand old time. I went from coming here to post wrestling to becoming a Cage Rat. After a while, along with the B-Team, I started to care about non-spam again, and a mod spot too, but I didn't realize what that actually meant. I made friends on here, even lost a few. I found an "enemy" in Doc, but I'm sure there were more along the way. Hell, even made an ass out of myself quite a few times, I.E. earning a week ban for porn in rep. Yet, through all that, I came back. I grew to like this place even more, even caring a bit too much. I was obsessed with impressing people, but after a while, I stopped caring... Never to the degree that Coco did, though. He may come on here every day, but he never tones his personality down and that's the key. I still care about not being a huge ass or looking like an idiot, nobody wants to be the next Milenko or Doug, nobody wants to be treated like shit (whether warranted or not), but maybe even the fact that I care is too much. There doesn't need to be a filter, that's what gets you places. I mean, has Sly ever sugar coated a thing? No. I've been on the wrong side of a Slyfox red rep or an insult enough times to know this.
Speak your mind, guys and maybe someone will actually compete with Coco. Don't think I don't plan on being that guy, though.
