What if the MIZ actually loses to Jerry.....Hear me out. If the Miz loses to the king...the king finally gets what he has always deserved....The WWE championship....he has 3 weeks to lose the title back to the Miz on any Monday Night Raw...The Miz will want his rematch clause say....the following night after the ppv....where he will win in some dirty fashion to keep his persona alive and well, while still making the King look good....Does that seem like a possibility to anyone?
In the crazy world of WWE, I could see it happening and to be honest and like I've said in my previous posts on this topic, Vince McMahon has made far more questionable booking decisions. At the risk of repeating myself, which I am willing to take the responsibility for doing, these three title changes are a HUGE reason why Jerry Lawler's title win would not be as big of a deal as most people here are making it out to be and while maybe in some ways I wonder why it should happen, it wouldn't bother me because it is no worse than these following booking decisions:
1. Vince beating Triple H for the World Title: This gem was not needed, I don't care how much "story sense" it made. It was a ridiculous booking decision where Vince held the title for a total of like a week and stripped himself of it, only to have Triple H win it back in the Six Pack Challenge a few weeks ago, what was the point, really? Yeah, I know Austin and Triple H were brewing a feud between one another, but it was unneeded just the same.
2. Vince becoming ECW Champion: Again, maybe it's not the prestige of the WWE Title that we are talking about here, but still, was it really all that necessary? I think Umaga would have benefited far more from beating Bobby Lashley for the strap than McMahon would have. I needn't say more.
3. Miz losing the US Title to Bret Hart: Well the Miz is certainly no stranger to dropping gold to older talent, that much is for sure. While it might seem ironic that as a Bret Hart fan I am questioning a booking move involving The Hitman, but let's keep this in perspective, and before anyone says anything else, yes I know the US Title is not the WWE title. But hell the US Title is still a TITLE and back when I was a youngin watching wrestling it had a very important kayfabe role, like the Intercontinental Championship it was a stepping stone to the top of the NWA promotion. And even for wrestlers that never became World Champions it was such an intriguing division. Go back and watch matches with Magnum TA and Tully Blanchard and you'll see what I am talking about. I also want to mention Barry Windham as another fine example of how exciting the US Title division was (although he would be NWA World Champion eventually). Anyway, and with all my fandom for Bret still intact, giving Bret air time to win the US Title was unneeded, for those who want to use the justification that it was a redemption for Montreal, well what was the point of WrestleMania XXVI and the match with Vince McMahon then? I say that because I have heard people defend the whole "feel good" moment of giving Bret another title being necessary for his closure. Sorry but I call bull on that one.
Plus, at this point in their careers, Jerry Lawler is a lot more capable in the ring than Bret, no offense to Bret, but with his health problems being what they are, there was no point in such a booking move.
Basically, there are a lot of ways they can do this and still have the Miz be Champion again, have him lose it at Elimination Chamber and either win it back the next night at RAW or a couple weeks later. That way he gets it back in time for Mania and for those that are fans of Jerry Lawler can say he was WWE Champion for at least some short period of time. Hell, the guy's been in WWF/E for almost 20 years and he's never had a chance to hold a single title there. To be honest with the way titles changes are booked to happen to quickly and with the number of PPV events the company has to produce, this sort of situation is no surprise to have occur, I personally don't see the harm. While it's not a booking decision I would make to have as a match in the first place, it's not something I can say would bother me and by comparison to the three title matches that I just mentioned, it really would not be any worse at all. Period.
