What are your opinions on Bobby Lashley becoming ECW World Heavyweight Champion?

Hopefully Paul Heyman will use his booking and creative input for ECW to revert things back to how they used to be - pure extreme and hardcore wrestling.
As popular as Bobby Lashley is and regardless of his in ring talent, we are yet to see him display any real extreme wrestling style. Sabu with tables, RVD with the Vandaminator and the Five Star Frog Splash using a chair for full force, The Sandman with his Singapore Cane - these are all real examples of extreme wrestlers - however they aren't being used as much as they should in the way that they should, and neither are the other ECW originals.
I feel that ECW has become "just another WWE show" which shouldn't have happened, ECW stands for Extreme Championship Wrestling... however:
* There is only one "extreme rules match" per show.
* There is only one championship in the brand.
* There are only around 3 wrestling matches per show on average, and too many of them are DQ's and no-contests.
If Paul Heyman pushes for a WWE Hardcore Championship revival and hardcore/extreme matches not to be limited, I think that WWE's storyline spin style combined with ECW's electric, extreme and hardcore style would make ECW a force to be reckoned with and without a doubt as prominent a brand as SmackDown and RAW. He has creative input, the question is: Will he ask Vince McMahon for what he really wants as an "Extreme Messiah" and what the fans want, or will he continue with the path of destruction which Vince McMahon has set for him and the ECW brand?

Lashley as ECW champ is a joke. Probably the least extreme guy in the history of wrestling. Just another typical big guy with 3 moves, there is nothing special about lashley whatsoever. If they wanted to have a face ECW champion it should have been RVD or CM punk who actually have some talent and creativity in the ring. Even if test had won the match i could appreciate it as he is a far better wrestler than lashley and could probably pull off being a good heel champ. Making lashley champ is one the biggest reasons that the new ECW is going nowhere fast.
I like Lashley but getting the title is complete bullshit he bitched & moaned about being on Smackdown & not getting the title so they give him the ECW title to make him happy in only his 2'nd match on ECW.
I don't blame RVD for wanting out he's been busting his ass to make up for getting busted & to get the title back just to have Lashley get it cause he couldn't get the title on Smackdown, he whines like a little bitch & gets the title over RVD who's been busting his ass to get it is bullshit!

Lashely is a good an upin coming wrestler, but NOT IN ECW, what does he have thats extreme?
His strength? come on, test, big show could match or out power him.
Yes he has a wrestling back ground but what the heck does that mean in ECW, NOTHING, if angle couldn't make it work what makes Vince think that Lashley can.

He isn't ready yet, giving him the ECW belt was a big mistake. I mean come on, he hasn't feuded with many top guys in the business so far. JBL comes to mind, and Booker T.
Lashley hasn't been put over with the crowd enough, as he feuded with Booker T before he even won his 1st World title in WWE. If they had put him on Raw, possibly as a heel to go against Cena, or DX. Even if he'd feuded w/ Taker, that would have been great. But NONOOOOOO. WWE does it again, in this case ECW

People need to realize that ECW is about being extreme in name only. By now, everyone should have figured out they are moving away from that idea, and accept that it will become just like RAW and SD!. I don't think Lashley is ready to be a champion but still, it doesn't seem like champions should be judged in ECW for not being extreme, because that is no long the point. I know we are all disappointed but thats the honest truth and until we learn to live with it we will never be remotely happy with WWECW.

It's simple. ECW is supposed to be the 3rd brand of WWE. It was never meant to go beck. Vince only used the ECW name to get more people to watch it. As far as RVD winning the title that is never going to happen again. Vince already have a hard trouble to give him the title in the first place, and now after that drugs story, that little trust thaat Vince had was shattered. While i prefered that CM Punk would win the title, Vince thinks is still not ready. As for Test and Holly they aren't in that league for now (they could be in the future). So the only choice left as Lashley. Vince has already shown with RVD that is willing to give the ECW title to guys that wouldn't win the major title on the other brands. But for Lahley to hold that title he has to pick up his game, or else it will be a very bad run until WM.
Well IMO, Hardcore Holly is more suited for the strap!
It's simple; Make him a decent Heel and he'll do the rest...He's much more entertaining than Lashley and he can actually wrestle! When is Vince going to stop pushing the BIG GUYS!?

Its total shit. Lashley who has no talent bitches his way to a title while guys like carlito who are better on the mike and in the ring are left 2 struggle in the 2nd tier title divisions. WWE are losing my trust fast. None of the current world champs deserve 2 be as they really just cant wrestle for shit and have about 9 moves between them.

Well they wanted to have a Black man win the ECW title I think. Only balck dudein all of ECW and he wins the title. So they can promote that. They got Lashley of colour with the ECW belt, Batista has some non-caucasian in him, but Cena is just another white wanna-be rapper dude who has no rap talents, and little wrestling skills, save for the F'U which does look sorta cool.
Thought they would give the belt to Test or Hardcore Holly, but they can have them fued with Lashley for a while I guess.
ECW does need to get more extreme though. Like what is the point of the weapons in the chamber if no one like uses them? And in any normal situation, if you had a weapon, you would probably use it! Like if I was in there as just a dude, non scripted, like UFC style, I would be bashing everyone with that barbed wire bat!
And umm...one of the reasons no one might have bought it, is the fact that up until showtime, they one had two matches officially on the card!!! Like what the @#$ (sorry unsure about profanity on this board, gotta watch it in front of the kiddies with the Glocks you know...) was that?

Most times first time champions are crowned I hate it, cuz they usually are up & coming & don't deserve it so fast. Same with Lashley but I'll wait it out a bit longer to see if he can save ECW since obviously it is now on his shoulders. Make or break yourself time.

Lashley as champ is a joke. Apart from RVD has any ECW original won the title yet? Sabu will be gone in a matter of days, RVD will be gone in a matter of months and who is left? The Sandman? Dreamer? Moving the title from Show to Lashley just goes to show where this craphole new ECW is heading.
I am not happy at all with the way this match turned out. Bobby Lashley is an undeserving Champion for so many reasons. First of all, this match didn't put him over convincingly (he drew a lucky position 5, which definitely helped his cause). Second, he has been with the company for a very short period of time. Third, he is not extreme in any way. And finally, his mic skills are beyond pathetic.
This is the match that was being hyped incessantly on the card, and the only thing "extreme" about it was how disappointing it was. Not enough violence, ECW Originals made to look weak (Sabu taken out of the match completely, RVD one of the first to go), and just too damn short. Lashley is just another one of those guys that Vince McMahon likes because of his physique. There is nothing else that I have seen from him that proves to me that he is a worthy Champion.

I wish there was a separate choice on the poll that allows me to wake up screaming from a horrible nightmare...only to realize that this attempt at ECW never actually existed. The whole concept of ECW these days is a polar oppositve of what made the company great in years past. There was a reason that fans all over America would chant for ECW during other promotion's matches. Even if ECW had been dead for a few years! If that's not over, then I don't know what is.
