Bobby Lashley Injured At WWE's Backlash PPV
04/30/2007 by Ryan Clark

Former ECW World Champion Bobby Lashley is in Birmingham, Ala. today waiting to meet with renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews to have his shoulder examined after suffering an injury during last night’s 3-on-1 Handicap Match at Backlash.

Lashley lost the championship last night to Mr. McMahon after the Chairman, Shane McMahon and Umaga overwhelmed him during the Handicap Match. It has been suggested that Lashley's shoulder injury has been lingering since WrestleMania 23. Lashley may have further aggravated the injury during his match last night. WWE.com will give more updates as they become available.

Dr. Andrews is respected as the preeminent physician athletes seek when they suffer sports injuries. He has performed surgery on Triple H after “The Game” tore his quadriceps muscles on two separate occasions.

Is this a legit injury or another fake one from WWE? Either way, as long as we don't see Lashley on TV, even if it only be for one day, is awesome.

All I can say is thank god.

Opinions?

I dunno Xfear i think sending him to see Dr. Andrews is serious. He is the man when it comes to this stuff and you only go see him if it looks like it might require surgery. I know for Vince he is hoping its nothing that will require surgery maybe some time off. For the better Part no Lashley which will be good so i cant complain though i hate to see anyone no matter how much i dislike them injured.

Yeah if he is going to Dr. James Andrews then it probably is a legit injury that they have to have looked at by a specialist. It is good that they won't have Lashley on TV for a bit if he needs to get rehab anyway.

Perhaps thats why they had him drop the title? I see Lashley taking a few monthes off and coming back randomly one day on an episode of RAW, maybe to start a feud with Umaga again. Better then seeing him hog up ECW atleast.

The only real nice thing about this is maybe for once now the ECW champ will actually be an ECW wrestler and not be on RAW all the time. I would say RVD but hes a fish out of water in WWE so maybe the Punk era is here. but your right Xfear if he has surgery he will come back to the RAW roster and challenge Cena for the top spot ohh so exciting *scarism*

This is a good thing IMO. Lashley was being pushed too fast by Vince, before WM23 he was working on all 3 brands to promote that damn Billionaire vs Billionaire match so i am not surprised the man has an injury after all the shows he was working. I hope his injury is nothing too serious but I admit, i am glad I won't be seeing him for a while b/c he is soooooooooo boring lol. This is a sign to Vince that he needs to slow down on pushing Lashley and realize he has many other guys that are way better and more deserving of a push(i.e. MVP, this guy is getting better every match).

What does everyone have against Lashley anyways? You all complain all the time that Vince screws people up all the time by not seeing potential and throwing them to Heat or somthing like that, always screwing up. Then when he Finally does what you all wanted to see him do with Lashley, you all complain about it. Way to many internet fans are way to condradicting. I like Lashley, he's like the Brock Lesner of today, but he's more entertaining in my opinion, or at least he will be in the long run. I can see him being a big player in the years to come. It's a shame that he's injured, and I hope him a speedy recovery.

If Lashley has been fighting off some type of injury since WM, then respect to him for being able to carry on for so long. To echo what has been said, hopefully it isn't too serious. Also, hopefully he doesn't come back and go right back into the ECW title picture. If he's back fast, I think he would be a good person to fued with a heel Batista on Smackdown and then maybe Mark Henry in a lead up to a challenge (but eventual loss) to the Undertaker. If Taker can carry Batista to some decent matches, I think that a Lashley vs 'Taker fued about 6-9 months after Lashley returns from injury has some potential.

I hate to see anyone get injured, and Lashley seems like a really nice guy to sit down and have dinner with, but... he is just not good. He is getting better and the effort is there, but the improvement has come very slowly. I will be glad to have him off of TV for a while. Hopefully he will remain on the shelf long enough for RVD's contract to expire so I will not be compelled to watch the rubbish that is marketed as ECW.

I don't see them putting the belt on anyone currently involved in the New Breed and Originals angle, but I think CM PUNK will be done with the storyline soon. Since future ppv posters indicate Lashley as champ, the injury to Lashley has most likely opened the door for a new champion most likely from the Raw or Smackdown roster. My guess is McMahon keeping the belt for another month give or take and putting the belt on someone like Orton or an up and rising heel. And then, hopefully, there will finally be an ECW champion who is a face *CM PUNK* crowned at One Night Stand in front of REAL ECW fans in Jacksonville. Then maybe Lashley can come back from his injury as a heel and fued with the new champ for rest of the year.

This is my most often said thing, but once again I will ask it, Are you high?

When, ever, did anyone want to see Lashley pushed? He had potential in the beginning but since then his matches have gotten progressively worse and worse. Further more he's about the opposite of extreme. And come on mate, you honestly think that Lashley is a good wrestler? Funaki has more skills then that chump. Nobody ever wanted a Lashley push, ever. He got it way too fast, he didn't deserve it, and all it's done is let him think it's acceptable to put on horrible matches, cause he's a big star now.

What do we have against Lashley? The fact that he couldn't wrestle his way out of a paper bag for one, and second....well he just can't wrestle. It's that simple. The backyard matches I used to have when I was twelve had better wrestling then your average Lashley match.

Well, I actually liked Lashley and liked his amatuer wrestling style he debuted with and used more often when he was on SD! When he came to WWECW he used more of a power house type move set which made people get bored with him including myself also he got pushed to the main event way to fast when other people deserved it more like Punk, Elijah and above all RVD imo. After his huge push fans wanted him to get injured and they got that but rumors have it that its not that serious and he will be able to attend WWECW tonight. Hopefully he doesn't get the title back any time soon. I want to see a new champion. Someone fresh like Elijah Burke or CM Punk.

The following is from WWE.com:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - After visiting famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews to have his injured shoulder examined, Bobby Lashley learned that he has a damaged rotator cuff but will not need surgery at this time.

The former ECW World Champion injured his shoulder during Sunday’s 3-on-1 Handicap Match at Backlash, where he lost the title to Mr. McMahon. It has been suggested that Lashley's shoulder injury had been lingering since WrestleMania 23 and that he may further aggravated the injury during Backlash.

Dr. Andrews is respected as the preeminent physician athletes seek when they suffer sports injuries. He performed surgery on Triple H after “The Game” tore his quadriceps muscles on two separate occasions. Lashley is expected to make an appearance on ECW on Sci Fi tonight and address his championship loss.

NOTE FROM RYAN CLARK: Bobby Lashley is booked for the Judgment Day PPV. It looks right now like 'Taker vs. Batista is off the books.

Well for me i think with the Taker sistuation that we could see Lashley move over to Smackdown and become the WHC. I mean ECW doesnt need him and i think McMahon vs the Originals is more exciting so i think Lashley willmove on.
