Kozlov is turning face

If anyone watched ECW tonight, I'm pretty sure you all were baffled by Vladimir Kozlov smiling and addressing the crowd, and getting a small pop.

Has Vince lost his mind? I mean really what's next?...Kozlov had everything going for him and all of a sudden he's been destroyed like Finlay and Khali.

I really think WWE will run dry on their talent if they keep this up. Not a smart decision at all.

I LOL'd for real when I seen his big, dumb, ass come walking out with a smirk on his face. It's like he just got a blowjob in the back, right before coming out to work.

I honestly don't think he's turning face though. I think they're experimenting with trying to add more of a character to him. Possibly a cockiness? All in all, I was waiting for him to cut a promo but it never came. I still think overall, it's just an experiment type of thing to add more depth to an otherwise boring character.

The WWE has tried a face version of Koslov already, it failed... miserably

I for one am entertained by Koslov, he has a great presence, it's intimidating and fierce. He's one of those characters that really doesn't have to talk in great detail for you to understand his motives. He's alot like Kane and Brock Lesnar in that area, he just goes out and decimates people. Koslov could come out and cut a promo entirely in Russian and people would boo him, it would still be affective. The only thing he really has to work on would be his connection to the crowd through his workrate, as his matches tend to get boring over time. Perhaps developing a slightly cockier personality could help him in this area, hell... it did wonders for Edge.

I liked his attitude. The monster heel is nice, but it gets old pretty quick. If it is indeed the case, I hope that they're trying to make Koslov more than just some Russian guy. Having a personality but still brutally decimating people will elevate him greatly. He's powerful, but too bland right now.

As for a face turn, I don't see it. He lost that smile the second that bell rang. And God help us all if I hear him say "Double Double E" like some excited tourist.

If they are indeed turning him face, the way they are going about it is very confusing. He comes out on episode after episode of ECW dressed up in Russian military garb, looks constipated and shouts at the crowd. Now he has had a sudden change of heart overnight?

And he is freaky when he smiles, he looks like V from V for Vendetta.

WWE considers ECW the "C" show despite what a lot of fans think. So WWE is probably just treating ECW like a glorified FCW, and working on Kozlov's character before they move him back to Smackdown or Raw

I was gonna start this thread, but it would've been a joke. I honestly cannot see him as a face, but then again, I couldn't see Khali as a face, so who knows? If they actually go this route, they need to feed him some heels, and not what seems to be members of the crowd every goddamn week.

I actually had the same thought that you did regarding Khali and Kozlov, Nate. I'm sure no one ever considered Khali a possible face, with the exception of India and the massive population that follows Khali.

But there's one big difference between these two, Nate: One has a mouthpiece that can easily speak for him, while the other doesn't have that at the moment. Without Runjin Singh, this Khali face turn would have absolutely no chance in Hell. Who can they get to be a mouthpiece for Kozlov, Nikolai Volkoff? It's a fair attempt to place him as a face, but only if he can get someone to cut promos for him. Otherwise, count me out.

kozlov is gonna fail horribly, there's no reason he even became a face rather than the fact he came to the ring smiling all of a sudden, just last month he was all geared up like van damme in street fighter talkin about domination of ecw and since then he's done nothin but fight jobbers in handicap matches

I don't think I entirely agree. I kind of liked the brief period when he was a face even though he never even wrestled as one. If he goes that route, I'll give it a shot. The monster heel thing does get boring after a while, especially with someone like Kozlov. It's not the 80s anymore and this isn't "Rocky IV".

to be honest, i would love to see him turn face. i think he has what it takes to be champ and he could even feud with mark henry and crush him like he did with those jobbers...btw, i think the pay is very good coz i don't think there's people dumb enough to get in the ring with kozlov

I'd rather Kozlov not turn face, but one argument could be made that the face/heel balance IS very heavy heel right now on ECW.

I hope not. If he's going to ever get a real run as a heel, he needs some experience on the top of the roster as one. Kozlov is the perfection of the heel foreign monster as he's got the skill to back it up. Turning him face would result in the death to all heels: the comedy character. There's no need to make him a face, period. There's others you can turn face to make up for it, or import some new ones. There's no point to making him a face because you'd have to completely change his character. Monster foreigners are naturally heel characters because as Americans, they're so easy to hate and it's so easy for them to get heat. Why mess with what naturally works?

I'm afraid they are going to have Kozlov be like Heidenriech. You know, going from badass heel to goofy babyface. Isn't it ironic that like Heidenriech, Kozlov is a legit bad ass.

Kozlov was probably the best monster heel in recent years. The undefeated story on smackdown was genius and the matches he had against Triple H, Jeff Hardy, and Undertaker really made you wonder if today was the day he was going to get beaten.

Now he's getting his ass kicked by.........TOMMY DREAMER!!???? Theres so many problems with that. And he's transitioning into a face. I think I might just read a book during ECW if theyre going to ruin my Heels like this

Kozlov can't be face. He's a red soviet, a comrade. The whole Communism/USSR thing is like a taboo here, 90% of us hate the concept. Thats like any one thing that contrasts the other. It just can't work. When they tried to make him face and give him that huge push, they had the right idea, but unfortunatly, something came up and he was sent back to OVW. And I don't think he's so much of a monster as a proud Russian.
