Kevin Nash's Best Matches?

One thing Nash fans and haters generally agree on is that Big Kev was no that great in the ring. There's no questioning his spot in pro wrestling history but he got there via a mixture of politics, charisma and being amazing on the mic.

Still, even if Nash wasn't the best in the ring, it seems improbable that he didn't have a few at least decent performances. He was in the ring with some of the most talented men in all of wrestling. He had some pretty intense feuds.

So my question to the good posters of this forum. What do you think were Big Sexy's most memorable bouts spanning the entirety of his career?
Tag matches can be considered as well as singles.

His best matches? I say the majority came from the WWF when he was Diesel.

Like his matches vs Bret Hart at Survivor Series and Royal Rumble.

Or HBK at Wrestlemania, and In Your House.

and Undertaker at WM 12 which was a good big man match.

There are two matches that come to mind and it should come as no surprise that they were against Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels.

vs. Bret Hart, King of the Ring 1994: The Royal Rumble and Survivor Series matches from 1995 usually get more recognition but I liked the KOTR match the best. Maybe it’s because Diesel was heel whereas the other two matches were face vs. face. Diesel came out of nowhere in the spring of 1994 to become a world title contender. I liked the idea of the technician Bret Hart against the monster Diesel. It was a fresh match and I thought they put on a good show that night.

vs. Shawn Michaels, Good Friends Better Enemies: This was a very good match and showed us another side of HBK. These guys were good friends in real life so they went out of their way to make each other look good. The no holds barred stipulation favored the big man, but the newly crowned world champion was able to overcome the odds and successfully defend his title. HBK showed us he wasn’t just a face past aerial wrestler. He could hold his own in a fight too.

I think this match was Nash's best. But it was more then just the ring work. The lead in and build up was also something to draw interest in this match. I remember watching this when I was 13 or so, and it being one of my favorite matches at the time. I still like Nash, but more of his character and personalty then wrestling skill. Anyway, here's a promo video of the match. Great stuff!

his best matches were definitely in WWE and they have already been listed, bret, shawn, and taker were all his best opponents. He had a couple good matches against Razor and Sid as well but those 3 were the best... I can't think of a good WCW match with big sexy. And his return to WWE was even worse. Although he did have one good one with Juventud that I thought was entertaining

Definitely his best days as far as matches go were in the WWF as Big Daddy Cool, which is the way I prefer to remember him anyways. Most everything once he came to WCW was based on promos and such, and most of his matches were squashes and dq's, and nWo beatdowns.

i agree his best matches were in the wwf as diesel....but so far i have not seen any mention of his former gimmicks when he was in wcw the first time around......at one time he was vinnie vegas.....and he was also known as oz.....granted neither of these gimmicks got him over as much as the diesel gimmick but he may have had a decent match as one of these gimmicks as well

Since people have been picking his matches with Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart, I'm going for one of the most underrated Wrestlemania gems ever: his match against Undertaker at Wrestlemania 12.

We've got Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler on commentary here. Prepare for some wackiness. And, indeed, McMahon's great philosophical question to wrestle with: "Will Big Daddy Cool Diesel rest in pieces? (yes, pieces)" Lawler brings up the Egyptian plagues and compares them to Undertaker's tactics against Diesel.

They attack each other quickly and trade blows. Diesel hits running clothesline in the corner but runs into a boot in the other corner. Taker clotheslines him down, but he misses a running elbow drop and does the zombie sit-up. Diesel clotheslines Taker over the top, but Taker lands on his feet on the floor and pulls Diesel by the legs under the bottom rope. Taker hits a series of uppercuts, working over Diesel's ribs. Diesel keeps him from going up the apron and tries to slam his head into the stairs, but Taker blocks and does the same to Nash. Back in the ring, Diesel puts his head down after an Irish whip and Taker lands an uppercut to the chin. Taker sets up a tombstone but Diesel powers out of it. Taker ducks a clothesline and hits a bodypress (!) for 2. The pace here is frenetic.

Taker does the old-school armbar, ropewalk and punch to the neck. Diesel fails to go down. Diesel ducks some sort of spinning thing and Undertaker lands under the ropes. Diesel grabs him by the hair, but Taker snaps his neck over the top rope. Taker gets back in the ring and his second punch knocks Diesel over the ropes. Nash is bumping really well here. Undertaker follows him out and pushes Diesel back-first to the ring post. Taker tries to waffle Diesel with a chair, but he manages to duck. Diesel takes control with a kneelift to the chest, and he throws Taker into the guard rail. Diesel rams Taker's back into the post twice. He takes a little time to intimidate Paul Bearer, then goes into the ring and poses. McMahon excitedly mentions that the Ultimate Warrior is on the 1-900 WWF hot line, but we are, in fact, having the ultimate matchup right here.

Diesel rams his knee into Taker, preventing him from enter into the ring. He pulls Taker in the second time and gets a big boot. McMahon believes Diesel is dominating the Undertaker like no one has done before and that the jackknife is imminent. Announcer Vince always believed the babyface was in instant jeopardy no matter how much or how little punishment they'd received. Diesel measures Taker and wails on him with punches. They be clubberin', as Dusty Rhodes might say. Nash has always had pretty good strikes. Diesel lands a sideslam for 2.

Diesel hits the snake eyes and the Boss Man straddle. It's funny how many moves Diesel does in this match that Undertaker ended up later stealing. Diesel signals for the jackknife, but first hits a series of knees and punches in the corner. Taker is really selling the beating. He makes a comeback and both punch each other simultaneously, followed by a double big boot, which actually looked good. The double count reaches 8 before Taker sits up, though Diesel actually makes it to his feet first and lands an ax handle to the back. He follows with a bear hug, in which Taker makes little effort to fight. Suddenly, he gets out with a double slap to the head. Diesel grabs a side headlock, but Taker hits a backdrop suplex and follows with an elbow drop.

Taker hits a top-rope clothesline for 2 (which beat King King Bundy at Wrestlemania 11). Diesel ducks a move and hits a surprise powerbomb. But he gets cocky and stalls forever (you'd have thought he'd have learned after losing the belt to Bret Hart), and Taker does the zombie sit-up again. Diesel hits another jackknife and stalls again, taunting the crowd and Paul Bearer. When he finally goes for the cover, Taker grabs him by the throat. Diesel punches him down and tries again, but Taker gets the throat again. Diesel fights him off again and clutches his throat in pain, and when he tries the pin again Taker grabs him by the throat and rises to his feet. Diesel manages a backdrop suplex, though. Great segment. Diesel slowly gets up, but Taker does another zombie sit-up behind his back. When Nash turns around, he initially begs off and then attacks, but Taker no sells and goes on the attack, hitting Nash with a flying clothesline. He follows with a chokeslam, and both are worn out.Undertaker makes it up first, though, and does the urn pose. He then hits Diesel with the tombstone for 3 in 16:46. And there was much rejoicing from the crowd.

Believe it or not, this is a hell of a match. It told a good story, with Diesel being able to match Undertaker physically but being unprepared for his resilience. The action and selling were very good. It's the first classic Wrestlemania match in Undertaker's career (an an underrated one too just like maybe his five other Wrestlemania matches), and the best Nash match I'm aware of that didn't involve Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart.

1) vs. Bret Hart at Royal Rumble 95

This match was great to watch. I loved the buildup, the vignettes that preceeded the match. Every week, Diesel would do a silly thing or Bret would do his serious "I want my belt back" thing.

The match itself was great and you see so many feuds intertwined in one match... simply awesome. You had Owen Hart attacking Bret, then you had Jarrett out there doing the same, you had Michaels coming in, then Backlund. The match kept restarting and finally ended up a draw. It was like all of Brets, Diesels, and their own feuds all together!

2) vs. Bret Hart at Survivors Series 95

I was a huge Diesel fan that entire period, and I just knew he would lose to Bret that night, since it was just about 1 year that he held the belt, which seemed enough. The match was very physical, almost brutal. Seeing Diesel turn heel because of losing was good, too, and the best thing was, the match was built as Round 3 of their "feud".

3) vs. Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania XI. While this was one of the worst Mania's ever, Michaels did a wonderful job putting Diesel over in this one. He oversold on some moves to make Diesel look that much better. (Funny note how no one talked about 'the boyhood dream' for this match).

4) Royal Rumble 94

Loved how he made his first real splash by eliminating 4 guys in 30 seconds and showing his dominance, clearing the ring. You could tell at that moment the fans were really getting behind him there.

Diesel vs Razor Ramon at Summerslam 94: Great feud between the two. Hall and Nash always had great chemistry together. The outside interference was humurious too with Walter Payton and Shawn Micheals
Goldberg vs Kevin Nash at Starrcade 99: Was a solid match between two powerhouses. He ended Goldbergs winning streak and captured his first WCW championship wtih a little help from Scott Hall.
Triple H vs Kevin Nash (Hell in the Cell): Probaly his last great match. Good Brawl and had good Hardcore action.

In my opinion, his best match was when he faced Mabel for the World title at Summerslam lol...:lmao:

But, really, for me, his best matches was during his IC title feud against Scott Hall(Razor Ramon)...they were some good ones, back before the personal demons took over Scott Hall, and the fact that, these matches were over the IC title is even more impressive.

Also, another good match, was when he was a part of the Wolfpac, and he lost to Rey Mysterio, the match itself was actually really good, and had a shocking outcome.

Most that I would have mentioned have been mentioned but I will add the tag match from IYH3 with all the belts on the line; as WWF champion Diesel and IC champion HBK took on the WWF tag team champions Yokozuna and Owen Hart.

Bulldog actually ended up taking Owen's place but it was a damn good tag match where everyone got to shine and it served up a controversial finish as Diesel jacknife power bombed a late arriving Owen Hart for the win that would later be overturned.

I'd also give a nod to his World title match with DDP at Slamboree 99, and a tag match with the Outsider vs Flair & Benoit from a Nitro in the summer of 97.

Good call, that was a really solid trilogy of matches they had and the one from KOTR is really underrated. I think Nash was slightly lighter back then and they pulled off some cool stuff, Bret was able to hit his main offensive spots despite the size difference.

Diesel vs Bret Hart Survivor Series 1995: I just watched this match for the first time the other day actually, on the Bret Hart DVD and I must say I was really impressed by it. I have always heard about how bad Nash was in the ring and with me only becoming a fan a few years ago and not having seen much of him I didn't have very high hopes when I put it on but I must say I was very pleasantly surprised.

Bret was of course his usual awesome self in the ring and Diesel seemed to do very well when he was obviously fairly limited in the ring. They incorporated a lot of cool spots into it too, including Bret tying him to the ring post so he couldn't move.

Obviously I can't say for certain this is his all time best match as I haven't seen that many of his matches but it is certainly the best match of his that I have seen.

I remember just one good match involving Kevin Nash and that's the match with Shawn Michaels at Good Friends, Better Enemies 1996. This is one of the best big man vs. little man match in WWE history.
