Kevin Nash Comments On Benoit, Guerrero, Punk & Bryan's Title Runs

Nash has a right to his opinion, but he’s completely off the mark here. It’s not the size, it’s the ability to entertain and do the work in the ring.

Benoit and Guerrero were great in-ring performers and had put together decent runs as champions. In Benoit’s case, in terms of matches and the numbers (ppv buyrates and television ratings)he was gradually delivering solid to good results and the truth is if he hadn’t abruptly dropped the title, he probably could have had a solid run for 8-12 months minimum.

The other problem with his comments are these guys weren’t the first non giants to have the belt. Randy Savage wasn’t a giant when he was champion. Bret Hart, HBK weren’t big men when they held the titles. Austin and Rock weren’t giants but not really small either, would he have turned them away because of size ? You need to be insane to think it’s only about size. If that were the case, Khali should never be without the belt.

And what does this say if we say we want only big men ? You’ll have every kid popping pills and sticking a damn needle in his ass trying to achieve that physique. E.g. Batista among others. Talent on the mike, solid in ring storytelling , an ability to entertain is what matters, the size of the performer might be something you prefer but size can't replace those qualities.

Let's add a few more things that show that Kevin Nash should keep his fat mouth shut:

1. Did anyone notice that at some point, The Undertaker used ALL of Kevin Nash's moves better than he did? Taker always used the big boot, but then all of a sudden he used a powerbomb (a much-better executed and much more vicious looking yet aesthetically safer than Nash's lazy drop them like sacks powerbomb that nearly broke Big Show's neck), Snake-Eyes (that drop stungun onto to the turnbuckles), pulling down the shirt straps, and even Nash's signature raising of the fist at the end of the match. In other words, the WWE didn't care one bit that Taker wrestled the exact same way as Nash, only he made it look ten times better, hurt less people doing it, and stayed upright.

2. Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit have numerous LEGENDARY matches that people want to see again and again. Benoit's triple-threat match at WM 20, Guerrero's winning of the belt from Brock Lesnar, their own bouts against each other, ladder matches, ironman matches, even their classic matches from the early 1990's. Nash has THREE legendary matches at best: vs. Michaels at WM 11, vs. Hart when he lost the belt at Survivor Series, and vs. Taker at WM 12. All three of those matches he was carried flat out, and it was obvious. Matter of fact--

3. Guerrero won his only WWE title at No Way Out, the PPV before Wrestlemania, and jumped into the crowd crying and celebrating. Benoit won his only World Heavyweight title at Wrestlemania 20, crying and hugging one of his best friends in the greatest American arena ever while breaking through wrestling's glass ceiling. Kevin Nash won his only WWF title beating a past-his-prime old man in 8 seconds at a non-televised house show. He did win it at MSG as well, but still...

4. By the way, Diesel's title defenses: Bret Hart, Michaels, Sid Vicious, King Mabel, the British Bulldog\Yokozuna\Owen Hart in that wacky tag team winner take all match, and Hart again.

5. Diesel wasn't even good enough to main event Wrestlemania 11. At least Flair and Savage were overshadowed by Hogan and Vicious. Nash got bumped for LT and Bam Bam Bigelow. Let that sink in a bit.

Overall: The only nickname he should go by is Big Dum-may.

He's kinda pleaded his rights hasn't he now.

To be quite honest I get his point. To sell his point I'll give an example, JBL had a hideous beer gut. He looked like he belonged in an indy promotion than a WWE ring. However when I bought SvR 2009, lo and behold his beer gut was transformed into a six pack. Not a toned little tummy NO! a six pack. That is an image people have always wanted to see in entertainment.

We as society do love a ripped big guy in combat sport. no doubt, but I have no problem with a Shawn or Punk knocking off a big 'un. DBD however is just well, not believable. Benoit was menacing. When he stepped in the ring you felt he was like a real life wolverine and wouldn't give up. I remember his match with Lashley and by god what a great great match that was. Lashley's best hands down, but Benoit more than MORE than held his own.

But this is about THE image and someone smaller bringing something new to the table to rival that. I'll give Nash one thing though Punk has nothing on Shawn, and before you read this and decide jump on me, give that notion some second thought. Punk's best matches have come because he wrestled somebody else who was better than him in one way or the other.

Kevin Nash screwed it up from the beginning when he criticized Benoit, Eddie, Punk and Bryan but forgot obviously about Shawn Michaels.
That's why his comments are so confusing and make no sense.
Nash does not troll everyone, he doesn't pull any strings, the dumbass just forgot that his best firends are Shawn Michaels and Sean Waltman. That's all.

but then all of a sudden he used a powerbomb (a much-better executed and much more vicious looking yet aesthetically safer than Nash's lazy drop them like sacks powerbomb that nearly broke Big Show's neck), Snake-Eyes (that drop stungun onto to the turnbuckles), pulling down the shirt straps, and even Nash's signature raising of the fist at the end of the match. First off, Nash Jacknifed Paul at least two times before the botched third attempt. That's at least a legit 300+ pounds that he had to lift and flip.
He botched the last bomb because Paul was a lot heavier. Don't even make me laugh that the beanpole Undertaker could powerbomb anyone of a similar size without killing them or breaking his own back in the process.

And are you seriously trying to say Undertaker can raise one arm better than Nash? What the hell does that even mean?

You also forgot Kev's awesome sidewalk slam in which he lifted the guy up, took a few casual steps, then leaped in the air before slamming them down. Very awesome move.

Overall: The only nickname he should go by is Big Dum-may.

I fail to see how any of your points prove that his title of "Big Sexy" isunwarranted. The guy was very good-looking.

Nash > Taker in looks.

I find Jericho's comments silly. Jericho has some balls for saying Nash was the third wheel in the NWO and ripping him as a draw. When has Jericho ever been a top draw? The guys has never been one of the top 3 or 4 wrestlers ever in WWE or WCW at any givin time during his career.

Now this is complete horseshit. To say Benoit and Guerrero were a dime a dozen, I', 100% certain you've discredited yourself from any argument. You obviously can't understand how truly amazing these two were technical, physically, and mentally.

Hopefully, one day if ever, we'll be able to see amazing technical wrestling again. Daniel Bryan can get there. But other than that, I challenge you to name 10 guys wrestling today who can be or are as good as Benoit or Guerrero, or even fucking Dean Malenko. You're an idiot. :) <3

Daniel Bryan, in many ways, has some similarities in his wrestling style to Chris Benoit.

I would have loved to have seen a series of matches between Benoit and Bryan, including a "Crippler Crossface v YesLock" submission match
