Watching No Mercy 2004 just now and amazed at how they made Kidman the heel in a story revolving around his guilt about hurting Chavo with the shooting star press. That Teddy Long, the fucking GM, threatens to fire Kidman for essentially caring about not hurting his roster-mates is mind-bogglingly scumbaggy.

Do you remember this storyline being as bad at the time as it is now? (Or at all)
Are there any other angles about someone being depicted as a heel for injuring someone then not wanting to perform a move/compete in general?

I remember the story and it gets better when Kidman goes full heel and wants to hurt people with it, which I believe happens there.

I actually like that story as it took something that happened and made an angle out of it. You don't see that enough.

Not really but it's a rare situation.

Yeah I just saw the post-match SSP while London was on the board, admittedly a cool "screw you" moment that after being hassled for not doing it, then cheered for doing it, he does it again when the crowd don't want him to do it.

It's one of those where you kinda know where the angle is going but it just seemed to get off on the wrong foot. Having London get in his face about it so quickly after the Chavo incident just made me feel sorry for Kidman and Long's ultimatum made me root for Kidman. Although I guess that was maybe the aim?, get the public on Kidman's side then try and get them to turn on him by doing what they wanted him to do but just not to the "right" person.

I get the theory of booking good looking wrestlers as babyfaces, WWE is clearly doing it at the moment. How does a heel turn work for Ambrose and especially Reigns?

There is definitely a high proportion of women cheering Reigns so turning him heel could maybe get him cheered even more. Presuming the people boooing him become more acceptant and the women suddenly aren't turned off because he is a heel. The effect could be instantaneous, right?

Out of the current NXT superstars, who do you reckon is most likely to flop on the main roster?

I would assume so as it's a really rare thing to happen. THough I think JBL was billed from New York at that point.

Unless you count the old 80s themes. Also Armageddon didn't have that song all the time.

Yeh they were back to billing Taker as from Death Valley again at that stage too. I was meaning more in an "originally born" sense.
