It's more along the lines of Rollins being the chosen one in storyline terms and Reigns being the chosen one "for real". In other words: fans put WAY too much thought into this stuff.

Yep. That was indeed the case, or at least a main event push.

Probably the fall/December. They were ready to turn Shawn full heel until the insane reaction at Royal Rumble 1997.

That's interesting. I was not aware of that. I recall the poor reaction he got at MSG at the Survivor Series just months earlier. They had to anticipate Shawn getting a strong reaction at the Rumble being his hometown and all? In fact I thought that the plan was to have Shawn regain the title at the Rumble for the specific reason that it was his hometown?

I asked my local bartender if he would be interested in attending Fast Lane '16 with a group of regulars. He said he hated attending live events because he could not hear the commentators and other speaking related material. While I personally don't mind missing out on the likes of Cole, JBL and Lawler I can most certainly understand where he is coming from. Brings to my question. How would you feel about and should the WWE air commentary throughout the arena via an app or specialized radio channel? In this digital age so many would be able to easily access the option and listen along through a headset. Of course they would need to make sure their is no lag time between the broadcast and the live action.

They used to do that. I'm not sure why they quit. Then again today you could just bring a phone and listen to the Network broadcast.

The Network didn't cross my mind. That option could present a problem as from Live to Air typically calls for some type of lag between the two. In most cases I think there is seven second between to two. It is amazing at times what makes it past the censors in that time.

Thanks for answering. I had no idea they once offered the option. It likely sucked or wasn't popular thus why it is no longer around.

Do you think Orton should have been thrust into the Ambreigns vs Wyatt storyline so quickly? I know he got attacked pre-NoC, but I cant help but think the repeated 6-man tags wont actually help the momentum of either side as much as a well-written storyline.
Also, whilst Orton has a decent following, surely it wouldnt hurt to leave him off TV for a while longer which would have actually help sell the Wyatts as a formidable group even more effectively.

Yeah it could have been longer, but this is going to be a series of six mans. The idea of, say, Reigns/Ambrose vs. Harper/Strowman would have just confused the writers because that's doing anything didfferent.

IYO what the % of Nikki's relationship was one reason but not the only one to have her beat AJ's record? There was a report last week on this site that Cena played politics for a few months for Nikki to beat the record

Is Cesaro the new Shelton Benjamin. All that talent but VKM can't come up with a solid character to equal all of that athleticism along with strong fan support

With Cena wearing Canes colors is WWE laying the ground work for Rock/Cean III

Non wrestling question:
Would you be in favor of a Netflix style on-demand online channel for College Football Archives. I think the monthly cost for the fans would be between $9-12

In short what type of complications of a Netflix style College Football Archival on-demand online service. I think the biggest concern would be how to evaluate the revenue split for each school.

Mm. Been working on a Hart Dungeon stable in WCW with Bret & Owen joined by Jericho & Martel (later Storm & Awesome as well). Wanted to see if Martel had anything interesting to do with either guy.

Should Reigns & Wyatt end their feud in a HIAC match at HIAC? Ambrose & Orton could face Harper & Stroman in a separate match instead of giving us yet another six man tag.

Hopefully we do get Roman vs Bray in the Cell after last night's double count-out and pretty even post-match brawl.

As for Orton; It would be good to see Bray emerge the "winner" against Roman, and thus, move onto Orton for a couple of months.
I can see Roman vs Dean happening soon as well. Just hope the right goes heel.

Your thoughts?

Did Bob Backlund ever work for WCW after he left the WWF the first go around? I've got this image in my head of crazy Bob wrestling Sting for the WCW World Heavyweight title and it's just not going away.

Were you a fan of the angle surrounding the WWF Title between SummerSlam and Survivor Series 98 that saw the title vacated and ultimately decided in the Deadly Game tourney at Survivor Series?

In general are you a fan of angles where the world title is vacant for a period of time?

Name a wrestler that should be in the main event scene but isn't and name one that is in the main event scene (that isnt big show or Kane) but shouldn't be

No he didn't.

I remember reading that Backlund spent time laying sheetrock for a company in his adopted hometown of Glastonbury, Connecticut before getting back to performing with Pro Wrestling USA.

Do you know anything of that time? Was he used properly....or was PWU such a mess that no one came out looking good?
