Least impactful return to WCW and WWE?

How do you feel about former World/WWE champions moving down to compete for the lower titles? I was watching Payback and saw the IC Triple Threat with Miz and while I don't really have feelings about his WWE title run, I don't think it's very believable that someone who got that high would be like "I want to be the IC champion!"

What's Sean Waltman's best match?

I've been watching some documentaries and some other stuff that features Hogan/Andre feud, but in each of those things something always comes up to mind: Who exactly was the heel in the feud? I will never deny it's historical importance in wrestling, but each time I watch those things all the fingers point to Hogan cause he was disrespecting Andre and treating his 15 yr. undefeated streak as squash compared to his title reign, but yet the Andre slam made him the babyface.

Hogan didn't disrespect Andre. If you watch the trophy presentation, Hogan says Andre is the greatest ever and tries to get people to applaud him. Also, if you had Bobby Heenan with you in the 80s, you were somewhere between Communism and pond scum.

So, since we've established that no one thing "killed" WCW, which one of the "thousand knife cuts" that collectively caused it to bleed to death do you think was the most harmful?

Luger/Yoko SummerSlam 93. The ending seemed weird to me than and that feeling hasn't changed in the 20+ years since. It never sat right with me that they built up Luger so hard and so fast as a face just to beat Yoko via count out at SummerSlam.

Was that always the plan for the match?
Was Luger penciled in to win the title at some later point and SS was meant to be the beginning? If so, what changed between that time that saw Luger not get the title?

I think batista possibly could have worked as a face if he hadn't won the rumble. I say this as anybody who seemed to get in Bryans path to the gold would be vilified. Do you see Batista turning face again i.e. if Evolution betrays him or a money match against Brock where his presence in the title picture isn't needed.

Yeah that was always the plan. Bret rising up that strong was planned to a degree but I don't think he was always getting the title at Mania X.

I get the feeling we see eye to eye on a bunch of stuff especially concerning WCW :icon_cool:

Indeed. I go into a lot of detail on there over time.

Eventually yes but not for awhile.

Just read your article on authority figures. Just one thing I'd add to it: They need to give the whole "Wrestler X versus The Evil Authority Figure" angle a much needed and long overdue rest. Wrestling companies (not just the WWF/E) have been doing it consistently for twenty years running and it's beyond stale, beaten-to-death, utterly worn out. Put it to bed and resurrect it again in ten to twenty years when it might be relatively fresh again.
