KB Answers Wrestling Questions

Way too early to say. The key thing to remember: the poster boys were never originally going to be poster boys, at least not in the incarnation they were intended as. Look at the three biggest names in wrestling history:

Austin: Got over because they had no idea what else to do with him so they let him be himself.

Rock: Got over because the gimmick he originally had absolutely sucked and he got to be himself.

Hogan: Got over because Sylvester Stallone put him in a movie.

Cena: You could argue he got over on his original character, but that's about it. he's by far the lowest of these four.

Oh geez no. 2003 on Raw was just BAD.

seriously?

I thought 2001-2004 RAW was better than 05-08.

From 01-04 you had:

Goldberg, HHH, HBK, Stone Cold, Kane, RVD, Booker T, La Resistance, The Rock, Foley, Orton, Batista, Y2J.

From 05-08 you had everything revolve around Edge, Cena, or Batista.

I don't agree with you KB on the 03 RAW being the worst ever but i'd take that over whats on now. At least you had a solid tag-team division back then. Kane/RVD, Christian/Y2J, Evolution, Booker T/RVD/Goldust....those teams were much better overall than todays teams. I mean come on Co-bro? 3-man band? Team Hell no?

03 RAW > 12 WWE

I'm going to put this as plain as I can.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Yeah, WWE (Raw moreso than Smackdown) was fucking dreadful in '03. Triple H vs Scott Steiner might be the worst feud I've ever laid witness to, not to mention the whole Triple H vs Goldberg abortion that just seemed to go on and on. I don't think I've ever watching wrestling less, truth be told -- and I STILL can't go back and watch the shows from that era. It was bad.

Lol. RAW sucked during the Ruthless Aggression era. That's when SmackDown! was worth watching. RAW had the top guys but they weren't used properly. We had to witness Evolution kicking somebody's ass every week where as SD! had Brock Lesnar, John Cena, The Undertaker, etc.

Best performer to never win a world title?

People usually answer one of three people, but I'm genuinely curious to see what yours would be.

Also, watching that Doomsday Cage match now. Thank you. Weird that with how many deaths there have been in professional wrestling, the only two people featured who aren't alive are Woman and Miss Elizabeth. Think a goose walked over my grave while I was watching that.

I assume Piper is the third of your three?
You are correct sir! DiBiase wasn't in there actually- KB is the first person I've heard with that answer, even though it's probably the right one.

With DiBiase excluded from the three, it should be pretty easy to figure out who the other man on the list was.

DiBiase was not in your three? Strange. Like KB, he was who I immediately thought of.

Third one... Jake?

As for the Doomsday Cage, it is brutally bad. And of course, Savage is no longer with us.
Damn, forgot about Randy Savage, and don't know why. Mostly because he was one of the few people from that era who had his shit together. Not my three, also- the three I hear most commonly referenced as "the best to never win a world title" from other people.

I totally agree Arn Anderson shouldn't have been a world champion. He was, however, incredible in his Flair supporting role. They give an Oscar to Best Supporting Actor- honestly, professional wrestling should have some kind of recognition for that, at least amongst its fans.

DiBiase should have been a world champion at some point. Hogan, of course, would have walked over him in the end- that's the job of a heel, to lose to the face- but he could have been a foil to just about anyone.

They did recognise it. That's why he was given midcard titles.

I meant amongst the fan base, who is often overly focused on whether a guy is climbing towards a world championship or not, but fair enough.

Watching that Doomsday Cage match right now. I'm a little bit stoned, but I don't think Hogan/Savage vs. Flair/Anderson could look any worse. Also, what the fuck is Arn Anderson doing in a catsuit? And why the fuck is there a door to nowhere on the top floor of the cage? Why the fuck do the announcers keep bringing up Brian Pillman?

Really, thanks for this, KB.

The only time that Arn should have been near a world title match is if it's made clear that he's just holding the title for Flair. Which wouldn't exactly make him look much better than being the guy with the TV title while Flair carries the NWA title.

Serena Williams.

At this point, would Ryback winning the Royal Rumble and facing Big Show at Mania make sense?

He obviously won't be "the guy" on Raw, but if Orton turns heel could Ryback and Sheamus be the top 2 faces on SmackDown?

Got me by surprise there. I had you pegged for an Arn Anderson guy.

One of the best talkers ever.

If you haven't yet, check out my review of it. I point out almost every flaw I could find in it, but as I read it again I thought of even more.

Arn's great, but he was never a guy that should be given the world title. He was there to support Flair, not be his equal or superior.

Yep, and there's nothing wrong with that role.

The original plan was to have Savage win it off DiBiase, but that fell through because of Jerry Lawler's cousin.

I used to have the VHS of it.

As for the trap door, it's so they could get to the next level. Why they couldn't just go through the regular door, down the stairs and in through the regular door that the other four guys went in is beyond me, but it's WCW. Also, why did the match not end when they got to the floor? That's what the rules stated they had to do: get to the floor. Also why did the other four guys just walk away when they got out?

Yep. It's really the only chance he has at winning a world title for a LONG time.

Mankind helped Taker more. Mankind could have feuded with just about anyone when he debuted and had some success. Taker HAD feuded with almost everyone but Mankind brought him to a new level and a new stage of his character which he drastically needed.
