My guess would be to make sure people didn't care about him, or because that way he won't jump ship and call himself Joe Hennig because they can't copyright that.

It wouldn't be a horrible idea.

Concerning Ryder, I don't think that you can argue that he has talent and charisma. With that said, how likely is it that he would've ended up more like Shelton Benjamin, someone tabbed as the next big thing but never got there, than a main eventer? Sorry for the awkward wording.

I don't even know if he'd be the next big thing, because he never had the chance to eb. That's what gets to me about this. He won the title, got beaten up like two weeks later, and that was it. He never was given a chance, unless you go with the bogus argument about the night he, Bryan and Punk had that six man and the rating sucked. However, why in the world would you knock the midcard champion so far down the card while the world champions keep their titles in that situation?

Is Ryder's "burial" (is it actually a burial, or just a depush) more a result of McMahon's "I didn't make you, so I'm going to break you" or does McMahon/creative really just feel that he was flash in the pan and not a long term draw?

Something else that I just thought of,

With all the complaints about main eventers being "over exposed" due to 4 hours of TV a week, 1 PPV a month and 2 hours? (NXT/Superstars) of Web programming a week...shouldn't the WWE focus on building the lower card more to make the Main Event guys mean more?

As in, focus on the current segment as it's happening rather than having say....Kofi vs Mark Henry in the ring and talking about "on the next PPV Rock vs Cena!!! OMGZ!!!"

Quite simply, the reason the fans don't care about the mid card and why main event guys aren't rising is because there is NO reason to care about them. Why should casual fans care about Kofi if the announcers are telling us that his mid card match is meaningless...

Sorry, I sort of ranted there...

It's a depush. He wasn't up high enough to be considered buried.

That's one of the big things that hurt WCW: the midcard guys NEVER got attention and finally they gave up and left. Part of the problem to me is that no one starts in the midcard or upper midcard anymore. They'll start on NXT or crush a few jobbers before getting jobbed out themselves and by the time they get through that process, no one cares about them. The midcard talent is there but they need to actually be used and pushed.

Not listening to the fans.
The lack of a territory system for the wrestlers to grow up in.
Fans like the ones in New York that have to boo all the faces and cheer all the heels because it's the cool thing to do.

Do you thinks Ryder's push can be salvaged still? After seeing this weeks SD he got a huge pop coming out for his match with Swagger so he is clearly still over.

Even if Ryder was nothing more than a flash in the pan, why not milk it to its full potential before pulling the plug. You mind as well make as much money off of it as possible.

Hey KB, I just wanna ask, who do you think is right in this whole situation between Rock and Cena?

I personally think Rock has been vilified, but I'd love to know where you stand on the situation.

I've been on Cena's side the whole time.

See, I could easily take his side if I didn't feel he'd take the same exact path as Rock if given the chance. I think he's dumping on Rocky for the same thing he would have done had he been any good in any movie he appeared in, or if anyone had given a shit. Obviously I don't know this to be true, but that's a lot of money to turn down. Not sure he could, if given the opportunity to jump from wrestling.

Yeah, but Rock's movies actually, you know, made money. It's not quite that simple.

That's my point. If the films Cena had starred in had made any money, or if he had been any good at what he was doing, I have a hard time believing he wouldn't have done the same. That's my problem with his problem with The Rock, always has been.

So, again, what's his problem with Rocky? I don't get it. Sure, he's dishing out the personal insults, but I don't understand what's at the core of those insults. There's nothing there to get behind. He's not making an argument worth believing in, that's all I'm saying.

I think it's that Rocky just left as soon as he could. Now that being said he was there for like seven years so it's not like he left after five minutes. I think it's more Rock not coming back for all those years, which Cena equates to turning his back on the company.
