I would have had him lose, come out on Raw next night and announce his retirement at Wrestlemania 32 at the top of the show, win or lose. Say he doesn't know who he wants to face him, but he's not going out without a fight.
Run a storyline over the course of the year with a few of the regulars wanting the match, with older guys like Kane, Triple H, Big Show wanting to "brag" about "retiring" the Undertaker, and younger guys like Rusev, Cesaro, etc... wanting the "Win". Maybe use King of the Ring to determine the challenger, setting up as a big stakes the opportunity to face the Deadman.

Batista looks to be out (though I'd prefer he go out with Hunter), Cena doesn't seem to bad an idea, Kane, Big Show & Mark Henry are useless, Roman Reigns would get so many boos looking at it right now, while Bray, Dean, Cesaro, Rollins and Rusev are all good contenders. I can't really get my eye on any of the NXT guys though. Balor is the closest I can think of, though, from that bunch.

Sting's luster has faded pretty rapidly for me, and as much as it was a "dream match" 16 years ago, I've got nothing in me for it, or for another Sting match. That's how bad the taste was in my mouth from his "feud" with the Authority.

The Mania crowd will cream all over Sting v. Taker. That's the best option. I believe Taker has at least 2 left in him.
You know I hate Tripke Threat World title matches at Mania. Only twice, I might be convinced on a third, did it make logical sense, and neither of those happened. Am I wrong in believing all of the multi man World Title matches at Mania would have been better as singles match ups?
And I know you know the two I'm thinking of that should have happened.

Maybe Khoya.
Benoit vs. HHH certainly would have been. Mysterio vs. Angle would have been a better singles match. I'll still go with Bryan vs. Batista vs. Orton as a triple threat.

With all the on camera mentions of the RKO that beat Rollins at Mania, could you envision a finish to the rematch at Extreme Rules where Orton counters the curb stomp as he did at Mania and is getting ready to RKO him again only to have Rollins counter out of the RKO into something for the finish of the match?
Would something like that even be possible considering the positions that each wrestler would be in?
