This was posted in PWF's thread and it surprised me.
Also Bret rarely told a compelling story in the ring whereas HBK could extremely well.
This is wrong isnt it? They were both very good at getting the stories across, I'd even say Bret was a little better.

It's fucking stupid. I can list copious Bret storytelling matches against different opponents that are up there with the best for storytelling.

Plus Owen, Piper, Bulldog, Hennig, Austin, Backlund off the top of my head (notice the lack of HBK on there).

The only people that I remember not seeing much of a story with is Ric Flair, Shawn, and that'a it. Maybe some matches with Hunter... Notice a pattern?

I'd argue his best job in storytelling was against Yokozuna; Hart was already so good at selling, a large opponent like Yoko just plays right into Bret's wheelhouse

I've not seen that match in about 15 years, I'll have to rewatch it.

The Yoko matches are hard to grade because there's only so much Bret can do. Him getting Yoko in the Sharpshooter was impressive though.

Bret Hart made people believe that a pirate with an eye-patch could beat him. Like, actually beat him, not win by interference on RAW and then lose the next three PPV's.

There's a question for you: Is there any performer today capable of telling a story on Bret Hart's level? Not necessarily active, but not retired, because Chris Jericho springs immediately to mind.

There was one brilliant piece of storytelling in a match not too long ago but everyone claimed it was a botch.

Was RYback v Tensai when Ryback couldn't lift him up. They faced a month later and then Ryback could lift him up. Just shows Ryback is getting stronger rather than what people assumed was a botch.
