He's been around a LONG time and has a surprisingly great resume. He's a giant who can only work with certain people, so to be around as long as he has is pretty impressive.

why didn't vince use wcw's big stars for the invasion angle?

Without getting into a big explanation, WCW guys were still under contract to Time Warner and therefore could sit at home and get paid about three times as much as Vince could offer them to work full time. Most of them were perfectly content to sit at home and collect a check for the remainder of their contracts.
