Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater: New WWE Tag Team Champions

I was hoping for a quick title change and "hey presto" it was! YAY! but anyways they are a much better pairing than Cetunga as someone named them here and they have singles potential....well Gabriel does anyways......

So I'm interested in what happens next, I hope that Nexus will eventually add to the titles with Wade winning the WWE title and them going on to be the next evolution (title wise).

Wow! WTF is going on with WWE's Tag Division? They're passing the belts around like a f**kin' basketball. I hope the next champions are an actual tag team.

did you watch Raw an actual tag team won the titles Nexus. Slater and Gabriel are not two singles stars with a tag titles. they came to raw as a team apart of nexus so i think slater and gabriel is an actual tag team.

I legitametly don't mind it. This whole situation is built around Cena's anguish, with the nice bonus of slowly turning Otunga against the Nexus. And lets face it, the tag team titles haven't meant much in a while. Letting the Nexus have it just gives them more props, though I'd rather Harris and McGuillicutty had gotten them. They look more like a tag team than Heath and Gabriel or Cena and Otunga.

all i have to say is a cena heel turn needs to happen people over the age of 10 are starting to think wwe is becoming stale (nexus not included) we see the same fueds every couple of months im goin to keep watching wwe until mania if a cena heel turn doesnt happen before then ill give up

I sometimes wonder if creative actually thinks of ways to shit on the tag titles or if they just plain ol dont care.

last night was as big a joke as the day before, go figure

first off, we have Super-Cena pretty much dismantling Rhodes and McIntyre by himself, way to make them look like jobbers.

then the next night you have pretty much the fingerpoke of doom, and now Otunga looks like a buffoon. oh wait, he IS a buffoon. then you got poor supercena wandering around the ring in total anguish.

and all the while, the legacy of the tag team titles gets trashed some more.

now I know the WWE fanboys are saying, "well lets see how the storyline plays out"
but this goes beyond the latest "storyline" this just really goes to show you that the tag team belts dont mean a fucking thing anymore in the WWE.

so for the next couple of months we're gonna get to see "slabriel" defend the belts against whom? Exactly! just props for them to stand around in the ring and try to glare menacingly with.

When I look at the booking of the PPV and last night..

Is it possible that Barrett wanted to give Cena some slack because he really thought that Cena was going to help him? Plus, Otunga has been whiny and Woi picked him just to keep him happy? So, come the next night, Cena screwed Barrett and Otunga is still whining. Solution? Screw Cena and force Otunga to fall in line.

Woi is the leader and good leaders how to keep problems at bay.

For you people wanting prestige and all that junk, no tag team is going to get the on air exposure as Slater and Gabriel. So, who knows what is going to happen. But for the first time in like forever, there was an actual angle for the title switch.

This was definitely the better choice. David Otunga and John Cena didn't really fit as tag team champions, however everybody have continuously said that Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater would be winning the tag team championships if Nexus were to win championships all of them.

John Cena didn't need to be in a tag team combination right now. He should be a focal point around Wade Barrett, and David Otunga should really be more of an enforcer lackey kind of guy.

Justin and Heath however can remain enforcers, substantial presences if you will, and still thrive as hell with the tag team championships. So I'm guessing this will probably become more of a power tag team than we've seen since Jeri-Show.

@tnarage2 - Yeah, you're right. Didn't actually think about Slater and Gabriel as a team. They at least could have used the Free Bird Rule, instead of wasting "valuable" time on a match that had Otunga lie down.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any posts about this topic yet but now that the Nexus have the Tag Team Titles, they are able to appear on both shows. I say they (no pun inteneded) because we all know that Slater and Gabrielle aren't going to show up on Smackdown alone. Also, we saw the Nexus get involved in the Burried Alive match at bragging rights thus alligning themselves with Kane. Do you think Nexus will actually defend the titles on Smackdown or just go and interupt matches similar to how they are doing on Raw?

I think it will be good for smackdown beacause nexus has drawn so much attention at this time that it will boost ratings for a couple of weeks then it will go down, but,IMO, i think it's sad there isnt a good tag team division in wwe, i really miss it... Rhodes/McIntyre not so good tag team when you think about it, Hart Dynasty, OVERRATED! Usos? Are they still in WWE? I like it when teams like Miz/Morrison, Brothers of destruction and JeriShow ruled the tag team division.

I don't see why they couldn't have just left them on John Cena and David Otunga. John Cena alone would draw huge if you protmote an appearence on Smackdown. But since Heath and Justin now have the belts, I suppose it isn't so bad. They'll be exciting in the ring at the least, and can have Wade Barrett do all the talking for them. Having Nexus on both shows, in my opinion, would make them grow stale a little faster. I don't want that to happen just yet. I want to enjoy them and not be completely sick of them. Nexus on Smackdown means they will have more people to challenge tag titles, and the WWE will probably just throw some teams together. I'd say leave them on RAW for the time being.

Yeah, this is definintely a good thing for Smackdown. While I think the way they put they did the title switch was crap booking, i think that Nexus appearing on both shows will be a good thing, if it happens.

The Nexus, since their debut, have been the best act on WWE television. While some may argue that we've already been oversaturated with Nexus, id argue that we've been oversaturated with Wade Barrett, although I do think he's been outstanding. This will give Slater and Gabriel a chance to shine, and in a sense, step out of the shadow of Wade Barrett. It will definitely be sink or swim time for them, and I think they'll pass, as both are quick and athletic, as is the majority of the Smackdown roster.

However, my fear is that since WWE has so de-emphasized tag team wrestling, we may never see them on Smackdown. The Hart Dynasty were champs for 5 months, and they made exactly one appearance on Smackdown, which only served the purpose of having them lose to the team that would take the belts from them. So Im not going to say it's a given Nexus will appear on Smackdown much, but if they do, it will be a good thing, and hopefully give Gabriel and Slater a chance to show what they can do.

I'm not opposed to it. I think as long as its handled appropriately and can be used to further each story going on now, it could be a good thing. I think what WWE needs to be careful of is to start adding every new person to the Nexus faction if someone is hurt/sick/a former NXT person. I think when you start doing 'too much of a good thing' then it can be bad for business. You will either want to get this dissension in the Nexus members like Otunga/Barrett settled before they possibly do a SD branching, otherwise if you start doing extra visits before settling more strife, that could only cause more confusion.

I like that Nexus will be involved with both Smackdown and Raw. Slater and Gabriel can (kayfabe) be allowed to appear by holding the Tag Team Championship belts, and the storyline reason is simply that they invited their buddies to come along. They can defend the belts and have already interfered with a couple of matches. Why not? Nexus claimed they were invading WWE, not just Raw. They are backing up their words with their actions. Nexus has continued to impress me and I enjoy seeing them on both shows because the more they do with these guys, the better they will get.

I've seen worse moves from the WWE. As said before me, Nexus is one of the hottest things going in the WWE and wrestling in general right now. This should be a positive since it will give Smackdown even more attention, with the number one faction being there. WWE is also trying to push Smackdown as the number one show and to do so you need to have your biggest draws, which Nexus is right now. I don't see a problem with Nexus on Smackdown at all.
