Around the forum, there has been quite a bit of debate over who the top heel on Raw really is. It can be any one of a few different guys. And currently, there isn't a well established guy on Raw who fills the void (in other words, no Jericho, Edge, HHH etc). Here are some of your options:
The Miz
He is the current WWE Champion, and many of the people who matter backstage have anointed him the "next John Cena." He is said to have a great work ethic, as well as exceptional mic skills and natural charisma. However, what he has in those departments he lacks in physical presence. He's just 6'1 and isn't as physically dominant as the other guys I'm about to mention. He has only won one match clean in recent memory, and that happened to come against Randy Orton when he won the WWE Championship. And even that was after cashing in Money in the Bank.
Wade Barrett
Wade Barrett has all the tools to be considered great. He is 6'5, 265 lbs and has been compared to an eagle by his former NXT Pro Chris Jericho. He is the inaugural winner of WWE NXT, and is also in charge of the Nexus, which as a whole are said to be one of the top heel factions in the company since Evolution. He has also feuded with the likes of John Cena, Randy Orton, and other various members of the Raw locker room. And he's only been on Raw for some 6 months. His one minor flaw is his finisher: Wasteland, which is a Fireman's Carry Forward Slam. Being on Raw for as little as he has, he is also a little green in the ring.
Sheamus
Sheamus is a former WWE Champion in his own right, and is the only Irish-Born WWE Champion at that. He is the backstage favorite of major players such as Triple H. He is probably the stiffest worker on the show, and stands at 6'6, 270 lbs. He has a cartoon like look to him, which suits WWE's PG objectives, and has a nasty finisher in the Brogue Kick (Big Boot), and High Cross (Running Razor's Edge). It has been one year to the date that he defeated John Cena for the WWE Title, and added King of the Ring to his resume just last week. In the ring, he has proven to have the ability to put on solid matches on a consistent basis, similar to Randy Orton. His only major flaw is his Irish accent and sometimes cowardly nature.
My vote would go to Sheamus. He just got this new "King" gimmick, which bumps him up just another notch. Miz has always been mediocre to me. He's yet to prove he can put on matches on a main event level. But that could come in time. As for Wade Barrett, much of his success could be due to the heel faction behind him. But he has still exceeded all expectations since showing up on NXT.
So who do you think is the top heel on Raw? Is it somebody else?
