John Cena and Make-A-Wish!! Problem?

Hard Hit Prince

Not really working as a
I was reading some opinions on the promo between John Cena and Daniel Bryan last Monday Night and one of the things that some people seem to have a problem with, is the fact that John Cena pulled the "Make-A-Wish card".

We all know here what he does for the Make-A-Wish, we don't understand the impact he has in the lives of hundreds of people (you've never been in that spot, I'm assuming) that he meets but we know that somehow, somewhere he's actually doing something "good" in the world. I don't care if you think that John Cena is a phony and that in reality he killed Chris Benoit and his family, but I do want to know if you have a problem with the fact that he uses something, that involves charity and real-life moments he has, in his wrestling persona and in his promo work.

Discuss.

Modern WWE has answered the inevitable death of kayfabe by hastening and embracing it.

Move along, nothing to see here.

It's well publicized by the WWE that he does that, so what's the difference? It's not like they're hiding it.

If they're playing up the "reality" aspect in this angle that DB is a "wrestler" while Cena is an "entertainer," then why can't Cena use part of his reality in the storyline? He didn't shove it in DB's face. He used it to prove a point; that he works his ass off for the WWE.

How can you just mention his murders as an afterthought? If he brings his personal life into his business life, which I am fine with, he should bring in the good along with the bad. That way we can have a good tweener for the first time in ages.

Bryan screaming "You're not a wrestler!" to a rousing response from his fans is proof that kayfabe is alive and well.

This is true, but WWE obviously thinks Cena is more hated for his 5 moves of doom than he is for the Benoit murders, or that's what Bryan would've been yelling about on RAW.

The point of that promo was the lack of respect shown between them both. Cena doesn't respect Bryan due to him not being on a big stage for so long, while Bryan doesn't respect Cena for being a 'real wrestler'. Both have some merit, but the Make-A-Wish stuff only proves that he entertains kids.

If I were doing that promo in place of Bryan, I'd tell him that has ZERO to do with his ability as a 'real wrestler'. Don't bury his work with kids, but make it seem like it's got nothing to do with his in-ring work.
