Because someone does humanitarian work, that automatically disqualifies them from being a douche? I'm not disagreeing with you about the good things he does, it's true that he's far more active than a lot of celebrities. I couldn't understand how his shit attitude towards a lot of things is completely nullified by those things. You can do good things for people and still act like a dick.

Just read his wikipedia page. Either it needs to be added to, or you are exaggerating. A lot of celebrities do just as much more than him (e.g., Ashley Judd, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Anderson Cooper, Oprah Winfrey, Matt Damon). Sean Penn seems to be a member of the Kanye West/Susan Sarandon/Tim Robbins camp: bitch and moan at protests and make it seem as if they're doing a lot.

Wait, aren't you the one that cited nothing more than Wikipedia in listing JFK's accomplishments? Why shouldn't it be the be-all end-all of sources on the Internet then?
Whoa, whoa, WHOA. Money is much more important than one person going out to help people in war- or disaster-torn countries. I commend Penn for going out to New Orleans and Haiti to help and save people, but this in no way, shape, or form makes him more virtuous than those who donate a boat load of cash. You may see just signing a check as being lazy, but I look at the consequences of that check (namely, food, clothes, various supplies, and wages for people/companies who help to rebuild these areas).
Thank you for informing of the things Penn does for those in need. But, he is still no more of a Mother Theresa than a lot of other celebrities.

He acts like a dick sometimes. Is that even debatable? I like Penn, I really do. And yes he does a lot more than other people. It's not like he hasn't been a douche before. Sure the paparrazi are garbage, but to fucking hit people because they're doing something you don't like? It's childish. You can say that they were invading his personal space, but so does the fucking government. Would you go fight somebody from the IRS? I understand where he was coming from, but to lash out like a child is a dick move.
Other than that, I don't give a shit. I don't even care about him fucking hitting paps, but it is a douche thing to do. That's the point we were making.
But didn't the paparazzi like invade hi hotel room and hide in his room while sleeping? Like, I don't know about you man, but I'd sure as fuck attack someone who was doing that. That's beyond illegal/immoral.
That's cool, not acting like I'm an expert on all things Sean Penn, I just know that he's a great actor and a great humanitarian, I don't play the slightest attention to the tabloids so I have no clue if he's a dick in real life or not.
I just wasn't liking everyone beating up on him. From what I know atleast of him, he seems like a good dude.

Shit if that's true then I wouldn't blame him. But there's been multiple times when he's attacked photographers coming out of a restaurant and shit. That's a little much. I don't pay attention to tabloids, but those are pretty well known incidents. He seems cool enough, I'd hang.
