Jack Swagger - I Don't Get The Buzz?

Ok! Hello to follow IWC

I have been a wrestling fan since 98 (two weeks out from the 98 Royal Rumble) and have witness gr8 talent come and go ... some personnel favourites would be : The Disco Inferno... Steve Blackman(The Man I Wanted to win RR 98 ) ... The Lion Heart Chris Jericho .... Shawn Micheals .... Kidman and Taka Michinoku.

I often believe I see talent when I see it, Even though I admit i can be wrong but one man who has often puzzled me in both support and success is the All American American Hell! You Know who I mean hahaha. To me I don't see much in Jack... I find him boring and someone who will often have me reaching for the remote (cue the insults) but please understand I do believe he could able to put on a good match and even have talent when it comes to talent in ring skills but I fail to see the sense in his quick World Title and how come he has gained the internet support he has, Are people that disparate to create a counter cultural that continues to work against "The Man" ? or is it Something else?

I feel he needs something else to be added to him.. Iv'e said it once and I do it because I like to keep things even... HOW MANY COCKY HEELS DOES WWE NEED! Give him a Gimmick or a puporse, Hell Bring back the All American Eagle at least that was worth a laugh . Lets not forget people its "Pro Wrestling" or Sports Entertainment, it Doesn't need to be serious

So please leave your opinion upon Jack, does he need a re - tooling ? what could the future hold for the All American American?.

i really like swagger. he has personality, hes a great in ring worker, hes got a great look to him, a natural talent. i also believe his run as world champion being as watered down as it was, wasnt his fault. swagger is a star. nuff said

I Am not about to put all my money on him being a "STAR" yet as I believe he as some work to do (lets be honest, because WWE throws a world title on someone doesn't promise that person will be a the for front of the product, Great Khali title reign is a gr8 example)

but I do agree WWE dropped the ball with the title run, Maybe WWE should have just not given it to him if they hadn't thought it out that good.

Face turn.

The WWE missed it's opportunity to fix Jack Swagger during the rather lengthy Michael Cole/Jerry Lawler feud. Like you mentioned, there are a huge amount of cocky heel types in the WWE. Jack Swagger often fades into obscurity. In fact, it usually goes unnoticed when Swagger misses a couple weeks in a row on RAW. To fix this, Jack Swagger needs a face turn. A face turn for at least a good 6 months or so would do enough to build Jack Swagger a solid fan base. Give Swagger a nice United States title run and build him slowly as a face. There's nothing wrong with his look, wrestling ability, gimmick or swagger. Nothing needs to be fixed but time managment. Take your time WWE, to cook Swagger into something big. Face turn would be a great start to fixing Jack Swagger.

I personally love Swagger, and think WWE has given him the shaft... I just reread that sentence.... nevermind.

I can see the argument that he was given the world title too soon, he was barely on tv and then out of nowhere he's in MiTB and soon after World Champion, but they did need to push him. He's likened to Kurt Angle a lot, I just wish creative would book him as such, make him a little (a lot) more intense, and maybe give him a face turn. RAW needs more faces...

Im the same as the op, i never saw too much in swagger. i dont hate him, but he became champ out of nowhere. he lost his little royal rumble challenge to santino, then a couple months later he wins the world title, and even picks up a win off of orton when orton was starting his ascent to the top as a face. i dont think he should be world champ, i think he should stay as a midcarder. being a midcarder does not mean you are a failure. was christian a failure before his shitty little title reigh. i dont think so. not everyone should be pushed to the top, and i think this is the case for swagger.

but i agree that a face turn might be what is needed for him. while i do not normally do the whole "wwe dropping the ball thing" if they were going to do it, they should have done it with his stint with cole. maybe they should of had cole pay off someone like sheamus to try to help him beat lawler, only for swagger to come out and help jerry. just saying, it seems that the wwe wants to keep him as a heel, and he is going nowhere fast.

Jack as a face turn would be awesome. He has the potential to get his fans back with the face turn. But how would that happen? Like how would you fit that in the story? What could they do?

jack is whack....nuff said. i find him very bland and want to shoot myself whenever he speaks. He has a horrible speech impediment. hate to say it but its true. id rather here eugene on the mic. lol comparing him to angle only proves angles legacy cause jack could very well be the next kurt but nobody seem to appeal to him the way they did to angle. I personally dont like the guy, although talented in the ring, but do feel the missed face turn a few weeks ago would have been a little hope for him. Now he has to settle for evan bourne? didnt we already have to live through this with him and rey? .......btw first time post here although i been on this site for years and have been a fan since 88!

Jack Swagger is one of my favorite superstars on the WWE right now...
He is guy with a lot of charisma and he has personality and i agree with Hamler, he desperately needs a face turn...

He could feud with The Miz, I think that could be a great feud and a great storyline...
I dont think he should be world champion later in 2011, but in 2012/2013 i hope he gets the WWE Championship at least twice...

He is a great ring worker, and not that bad in the mic section...
The stuff they ofter wrote to him are "natural boring" it's not Swaggers fault..
Put CM Punk talking about how his father always wanted to see him being world champion, and you will see what i am talking about...

I enjoyed Rey Mysterio vs Jack Swagger, he did a pretty good job...
And i dont see why people says that Jack Swagger is a Kurt Angle wannabe...
He is a real All American American, so why should had WWE ignored it?
I think that Swagger is very different from Angle, his ring presence is very different, so every time I see Swagger i dont even think about Angle...

I hope he gets a push as a face...

I like Swagger's ring work. He's an obvious athlete, got great ring presence, has good moves, and executes well in the squared circle. Obviously he's got major mic issues but I hope he can overcome them and be a top player in the WWE for the next several years. Hell, if he fixes that, he's main event material.

I swear I think you guys have some of the shortest memories ever. People loathed Angle at first. He tried being the all american american but fans boo'ed the crap out of him. Then he played the perfect weasel heel that fans couldn't stand. Kurt really didn't get that intensity until the invasion angle. On to the topic, I have never liked Swagger. Another superstar intially shoved down our throats. Mic skills suffer bc of speech and he doesn't have a great look. He looks very odd. He is tall and slim..nothing special. I think his moveset is shaved a bit bc he is heel but I don't think he is special.

That's a swagger mark if I ever read one. 98 percent of fans see Angle in Swagger. Lol@poster acting as if Angle wasn't some sort of an all american. I guess he didn't win a gold medal with a broken freakin neck..Angle always bragged about his wrestling background as does Swagger. He basically wore the same wrestling gear as Angle down to the shoulder straps. He even wore the red, white and blue for a LONG time like Angle and I'm pretty sure Swagger used the ankle lock too. Its ok to be a Swagger fan but to say he isn't very similar to WWE Angle just makes you look like the prototypical Swagger mark. Swagger=Flat out boring. Hence why his mainevent runs last one ppv then back to ColeCrap. Take the blinders off. My favorite current wrestler is Orton and he is becoming flat out corny and boring. He is reaching out to fans and all now..so corny but still like him. So stop being biased and see what everyone else whoever seen Angle, sees.

I Like Kurt Angle since the 1st time I like him which was a match at SS 99 against some dude who used the "Heart Punch" Idk who he was lol.

Me eitha... I would love to see something added to him to make him more interesting.

The problem with Swagger is that he's just not very over with the crowd. He did get cheers during the times when he turned his back on Michael Cole and those would've been his best chances to turn face but now that's been blown. Personally, I think Swagger has exhausted all he can do as a heel and a face run could be beneficial as I think he could play the goofy face type character yet be a beast in the ring similarly to how Kurt Angle was years ago. There's a lot of heels on RAW at the moment and Swagger could very easily get overshadowed by them and lost in the shuffle. A face turn couldn't hurt as well as a good US title run.

Jack Swagger can go in the ring, and I do think he's a solid heel, but for the past couple of months, he's been Michael Cole's bitch/lackey. He was stuck in the very long and drawn out feud between Cole and King, but he has severed ties with Cole, and I hope WWE can do something with him now.

I don't think Swagger needs a face turn just yet. Yeah, I know he received a nice pop when he decided to stand up to Cole, but Cole was the most hated heel in WWE around this time, so the warm reception really wasn't that surprising. There's nothing wrong Swagger. He should get back on track soon enough. He just needs to be placed in the right feud.

Hamler has it right, Swagger needs a face turn now. Jack has some of the best abilities of todays younger superstars, he just needs a to get a crowd reaction going because as of late he has been pretty stale. His in ring work doesnt need any help, just get him into a legit feud for the US title against Kofi and then turn him face once he gets it. I believe he's shown that he can hang with the big boys in the ring and I would like to see him, D Mac(I know i'll get alot of flack for this but I like the guy) and Bourne be the top midcarders on Raw. That is something that isnt going to happen overnight but if they could push those three in the next few months I would be a happy boy and I think the show and the viewers would benefit from it. But if they dont get Swagger into something legitimate soon I fear he will fade into Superstarsland.

Swagger should have turned on Cole to get a face reaction. Attacking an annoying heel is a great way to get over. Just look what it did for Riley. Swagger seems to be stuck again. He has a lot of potential because he is great in the ring and good on the mic despite a speech impediment. He could do great as either a heel or a face. They need to put him in a more relevant feud. How about a US title angle? I would like to see "The all american american united states champion champion" it would be funny if he called himself that after winning the title. Honestly all Swagger needs is a better feud and a chance to showcase what he can do and he will be further up the card again in no time.
