Is SummerSlam hyped enough?

OIL

Just a thought, SummerSlam is meant to be the 2nd biggest PPV for the WWE, yet, it doesn't seem like it gets hyped enough in that way.

WrestleMania, and quite rightly, gets hyped to the moon, which is no surprise and it should be that way. But why doesn't SummerSlam get half as much hype? It should be set apart from Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble, which recently it isn't. Sure this year they gave it Cena v Batista, but that was too rushed.

Basically, agree? Disagree? How could it be improved? Maybe more celebrity involvement or bigger venues?

I dislike Summer Slam, it is no where near the size of Wrestlemania, and I put the Royal Rumble and Survivor Series over it.

SummerSlam doesn't seem like one of the Big 4 PPVs anymore. It'sjust like any other old one. They need to add something t make it unique. Survivor Series has Survivor series matches, RR has the Royal Rumble, adn Wrestlemania sells on its name alone. But what does SummerSlam have?

These days, I'd rank Royal Rumble as the #2 PPV, and then Survivor Series as far as importance and quality. It also seems Backlash has gotten a little more "respect" from WWE as far as promotion and quality, because we all know it's going to be the fallout from Wrestlemania.

Summerslam had some classic matches, and slowly faded away...it's sad...

My favorite Summerslam match is probably the 'Taker v. 'Taker match, but that may be because I was young and in total awe of the Deadman...

Rumble is bigger because it has a direct effect on Mania. Summer Slam has an effect on nothing in particular. It was only important when there wasn't another show for several months. Gimmick events are always going to be more popular anyway.

Summer Slam matches are better than Mania ones though on average, they're just not as big.

That was a years worth of PPV in the making, at least from January to August, with a SS meet up by November.

Yep. If they played that out right it would have been the biggest selling SS of all time, easily.

But they fucked that one up.

That's why WWE would be stupid to promote Cena vs. Batista at Mania. It's been done as a throw away match, not the huge showdown that it should have been. It's been done, and WWE can't expect it to draw a huge buyrate for them.
