On Raw last night, we saw Sin Cara on TV for the first time in several months in which he scored an upset victory over Alberto Del Rio. Since we haven't seen him in so long, the idea that it might not be the actual Sin Cara, AKA Mistico, didn't occur to me. However, the Sin Cara Del Rio faced last night, as it turns out, wasn't Mistico but was Hunico. Hunico was Sin Cara for a while, feuding with "the real" Sin Cara. I noticed that he had a tattoo, looked like an eagle's wing, covering his right shoulder and part of his pectoral muscle, but I didn't pay it any mind.
However, there's talk that Sin Cara might actually be finished with WWE and that Hunico will portray the character going forward. However, no official word regarding Sin Cara's, who's real name is Luis Ignascio Urive Alvirde, status with WWE has been given. However, another sign pointing to Cara's departure from WWE is that sent a message on Foursquare, whatever that , from his gym in Mexico City this morning. The message was in Spanish and read, "Buenos días!!! Un día más gracias a dios y ahora vamos al Gym con toda la actitud saludos y no me espanto buuu." Translated into English, it reads ""Good morning!! One more day, thank god and now headed to the Gym with all (positive) attitude. Greetings and i dont get scared booo." So, I'd say that he's gone.
For quite a while, there's said to have been a lot of unhappiness with Cara since his debut. There's the feeling that he's underachieved since he arrived, was injured too often and, allegedly, behaved backstage as if he was a much bigger star than he was. I can't say that I was ever all that impressed with him and that the promise didn't at all live up to the hype. While Hunico is a bit bigger and not quite as agile as Sin Cara, which I couldn't tell from last night, he definitely didn't botch nearly as much as the original.
