Is It Too Late To End The Bret Hart Comeback?

As predicted, it's a slow burner that's started to really turn up the heat. In the first couple of weeks there was a lot of worry that they weren't handling it right because Bret disappeared after the kick to the gut. But now it's weekly, and looks like it will be that will til Mania. (And of course, as soon as they make it interesting a guy says it should be ended)

This has become a really exciting fued. And sure, Bret looked a little clumsy with one or two things, but a stroke victim with 10 years of ring rust to shake off isn't gonna move like Evan Bourne. My dad had a stroke around 10 years ago, and he's still messed up big time, semi-paralysed, so if Bret can even pull off a half decent match in a convincing angle then congrats to him!

I too love the fact that most are just sitting back and enjoying the stuff with Bret. As a long time fan it's awesome that he's back at all, let alone heading into a match at WM. After all the crap he's gone through over the years he truly deserves this moment.

The fued is progressing nicely, it's one of the better story lines they have going right now. As other have stated, for a guy that suffered multiple concusions and a major stroke that paralized him and put him in a wheel chair for over a year Bret is looking to be in good shape! Sure he's not the Hitman of old, but he still has a ton of fans and an ability to help construct a good story in the ring. The slow build has been going good and each week it progresses a little more. Last monday on Raw was a turning point for the whole fued and to stop it now would be a waste. As JR said on his blog when the whole thing started, Bret was one of the great story tellers in the ring, he would not do this without a beginning , middle and end planned out. It's good to see so much positive come out of a negative thread! The Hart / Vince fued is only a small part of Mania, but it's one I'm personally glad to see after all these years.

Completely disagree. This storyline has been years in the making. Would I rather see something along the lines of Cena with Hart in his corner VS Batista with Vince in his corner? Sure. However, with the real issues surrounding the past of this storyline, Bret deserves to be a part of this angle. I'm not expecting a particularly good match since he cannot work an intense match at the moment, but as long as there are fans out there who want to see this continue, it will. Even if Hart is unable to physically compete in the end, they can still go the route of having representatives face each other (which is the better route honestly) but this angle is too good to end and unless 100% of the fans at every show begin booing Bret out of the building, this angle's not going anywhere. The man is a legend among legends and he more than deserves this final run.

Maybe the match won't be so bad! I remember last year many of us were discussing how awful a certain match with Jericho against 3 Dinosaurs was going to end up being, and it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be. Plus, if it IS a bad match, it's Wrestlemania! You'll have at least 7 other matches on the card. I'm not worried about it and no one else should be.

Definitely looking forward to this as a big Bret Hart fan. I was actually surprised when Bret came out and attacked Vince on RAW last week. Sure Hart has some ring rust, and as it's been stated, why wouldn't he? It's been 10 years since he's wrestled, and it's been 8 years since his paralyzing stroke. I doubt we're going to get see the chiseled Hitman of old like I'm wishing we will [unless Bret manages to lose that gut he's put on]. I think the majority of posters on this thread have been wrestling fans for a long time. Most of us were pretty young when the screw job happened, or at least I was, I was 12. I think the kid in all of us wants a little retribution for Bret. I for one can't wait to see Vince scream in pain in the Sharpshooter, and might get Wrestlemania just for that single moment. I just hope if it's going to happen, that it won't end up being a tag team match like the main site is reporting it could turn into. I'd hate to see Batista and Cena stealing thunder from this.

Bret had an interview on Saturday the 13th, where he SPECIFICALLY said that he feels he can still do enough to put on an entertaining match. He said he is careful in the ring and that the WWE has been careful with him too.

"Hart's return is even more remarkable considering he had a stroke in 2002, two years after suffering a career-ending concussion in WCW. Hart, 52, said he has physical limitations and that the 64-year-old McMahon ``isn't exactly Kofi Kingston.'' But Hart said he can still ``move around enough'' to get a quality match out of McMahon and participate in limited tussles on ``Monday Night Raw'' (9 p.m. on USA Network).

``I'll never put on the performance I want to have, but I'll be able to do enough to entertain and give a good show,'' said Hart, one of the industry's top in-ring technicians during his storied 25-year career. ``I'm very careful about what I do and allow myself to do and what can be done to me. WWE has gone through great effort to ensure all that and make sure I'm comfortable with everything.

``I don't want to go out there in a wheelchair like (Hulk) Hogan. I know people watching me are saying, `He's not exactly a cheetah out there.' But at same time I do remember being in a wheelchair when I had my stroke. The thought of doing what I'm doing right now is beyond everything I imagined.''
