...that Alberto Del Rio could be sponsoring The Big Show?

Hear me out for one minute. Everyone presumes Vince McMahon is the "rich friend" that is backing Big Show in this moment of time. It makes sense, being the Chairman and a man known for playing the power-struggle angles well documented in the late 90s. But I have a small problem with that idea. Vince McMahon is 68 years old. Even for someone who spends a lot of time in the gym, a 68 year old man would face a lot of problems in the ring, especially against someone like Triple H, who still has a few matches in him.

And personally, I'm not really keen on a Team McMahon vs. Team Helmsley at WrestleMania. That either means Vince will select someone to fight for him like he did with Donald Trump, or they will give this to somebody else.

Cue Alberto Del Rio.

When he arrived on the scene, he was an aristocrat. When he was face, he was an aristocrat. Heel, aristocrat. That part of his gimmick never changed. He has the money to get The Big Show what he needs. And there's several ways Del Rio could play a role even if he didn't turn face. Maybe he sees the wealth of the McMahon Family and wants it as his own, resorting back to his "Destiny" angle. Maybe Del Rio is cooperating with Vince McMahon to regain control of WWE. There's several ways for something like this to play out besides "It's Vince."

So, what are your thoughts? Could Del Rio be the rich friend Big Show talks about? If not, who and to what purpose?

Its all just too complicated. The whole Authority angle is the product of over-thinking. Fans need to be able to keep up. Wrestling fans are much better at recognizing nuances in characters, not in storylines. I know my answer may sound short-sided, but for now the WWE needs to just keep things simple. I think your plot twist is good. But it would work better for a book audience or TV drama audience than a wrestling audience.

Look i know that everyone is thinking that it is vince that is behind money but I think it is going to Be Shane-O Mac. Hear me out on this Shane and Big Show had plenty of great matches together and some had said they were pretty good friends while shane was in the company. and Why not have Shane come back as the Good owner and have HHH and Steph be the mean ones. Even to have HHH and steph still win so that thye have control and then SHane can go back to Viacom China or do whatever else he wants. Instead of having people like Mayweather, Lawrence Taylor, Donald Trump or someone who knows nothing about wrestling be the surprise WM person make it a guy who always had such great energy, would be a refresh on everything in WWE and was a great performer. COME ON BACK SHANE O MAC!!!!

HERE COMES THE MONEY...Money talks...HERE COMES THE MONEY!!! I second it. Bring back ShaneOMac. He doesn't have to wrestle anymore. He was good at it, but just having Shane as an on-screen character would be enough to get some interest in this Authority storyline. Having Vince turn face again seems a waste.

Nope. It's got to be a face. And in order for Del Rio to be the backer, he would have to turn face. Big Show, after being a corporate stooge for awhile, stood up for himself and showed some integrity. And it was that integrity that got him fired. Hence, whomever is backing him would need to have integrity as well, or Big Show would have nothing to do with him. And the still fairly recently turned Del Rio has shown himself to have no integrity at all.

Vince McMahon, with his blowhard tendencies and arrogant bluster, has shown great ability to show incredible amounts of integrity when the situation has called for it. Back in 2009, when the McMahons were feuding with Randy Orton and Legacy, Vince didn't back down, knowing Orton could destroy him. Instead, he got in his face. Late that same year, when Orton offered to fight Roddy Piper for him, a vehement enemy of Vince, Vince declined. He hadn't forgotten all the terrible things Orton had done to his family, and he threw Orton out of his office, lest he "fire him or worse."

Yes, he backed Orton on the night coming out of Summerslam, but he's yet to return to TV. My guess? He's once again remembered the way Orton kicked him in the head, and the terrible things Orton did to his family following. I don't think that it's a coincidence that HHH and Stephanie have made consistent mention to what Orton has done to them. And while HHH and Stephanie may see it as 'best for business' regardless, I see it playing out that Vince hasn't forgotten, so he's backed Big Show and his interruptions.

Vince can be quite the face when he needs to be, and this is a case that falls under it. Being kicked in the head and reminded about it on TV time and again could stir up some painful memories, enough to try and make his family see the light.

Enter his involvement and alignment with Big Show. It makes much more sense than Del Rio, who has no dog in this fight, and would be completely out of left field. It has to be Vince. No one else makes sense.

Nope. I know this is a what-if scenario that tries to find something relevant for Del Rio to do, but this just won't work because Del Rio has already done the heel/face/heel dance in the past year to make another face turn plausible. The simple answer on this is the correct one: Either Vince or Shane.

I doubt it. Del Rio's a lot of fun to watch inside the ring and while I'm a fan of the guy overall, he simply doesn't have the sort of personality for such a spot. For the first 3 to 6 months of his time in WWE, Del Rio was interesting until it became apparent just how limited he was in terms of mic work and relating to the audience. He's a talented guy, but he's just not over anywhere near the level that WWE officials were ultimately hoping.

When it comes to some sort of power struggle angle, you need people involved that fans will rally behind and rally against with interest. It's most likely Vince McMahon that's been helping out Big Show. When it comes to the corporate aspects of The Authority storyline, you need someone believable in those roles. Stephanie & Triple H are both genuine execs in WWE and they both have a great deal of power & influence. Vince McMahon is the CEO of WWE and the company has ultimately been his baby for over 30 years. They have the necessary personalities and credibility to give weight to the role whereas Del Rio simply doesn't. Whether or not its successful once Vince returns is how he's portrayed. If he comes off as someone that's in a more serious mind set rather than being the cocky, strutting boss; I believe there's a better chance of success.

On top of all that, whomever's helping Show out needs to be a babyface and Del Rio simply doesn't have what it takes to be a top level babyface.

I've got 2 possible longshot scenerio's.

First, Big Show keeps hinting and hinting at the man the man backing him, giving Big Show the money and the confidence, and that man is... (wait for it...WAIT FOR IT...) WOOOO!! RIC FLAIR!!! Now hear me out... First off, its no seceret Flair has ALWAYS played the part of having money and spending it like its going out of style... Second, its well documented the fueds he has had with the McMahons in the past... This could be a way to bring him back in an on camera but non-wrestler type role.

Second, and I know this is a super long shot, but what if its JR? He has the most legendary non-wrestling fueds with ALL the McMahons in the company, they could tie in his rushed/forced retirement into the angle, saying he's finally pissed off enough at them that he's gonna take over and put them in their place...

Thats my two longshot picks... I will await for them to be picked apart..

My answer is....WHO GIVES A SHIT!?! I'm tired of hearing about people's bank account's and mortgages and bullshit! This is the problem with the McMahon's being on television. They add nothing worth watching. In the Attitude Era if they started talking about boring shit like this, SCSA would come out and stunner all of em or at least drown them in beer. Now we just get Big Show...talking about money and legal crap...

Would you play WWE2K15 if part of the game involved doing Big Show's taxes or helping Cody Rhodes fill out his employment insurance application? I hope to God the answer is no... Why the hell are people interested in watching this?

They may as well give JBL his own segment to talk about the stock market at this point.

Couldn't it be Here comes the money! "shane mcmahon"
this would be a great return for him even if it was a one time apperance, this could start the split up of the mcmahons. as for alberto thats a good idea, but i don't see alberto being the guy to help out the big show, alberto is a good face and probably should turn face soon but not in this way/.

Could be the Rock. He hasn't had any real involvement with Show in the past, but Rock has mostly opposed McMahon abuse of power (except of course when he was the Corporate champion). And of course it would be presumed that he now has the money to be someone's bankroller. It also gives him a reason to slowly inch himself back into the picture going into WrestleMania. And it could set up Rock/HHH for the future if they want to go that route.

What are the odds that it is someone on the outside. Someone like Donald Trump who has all the money in the world and could more than afford to help Show. Plus he has history with the McMahons.
