Impact Support Club House

It's weird isn't it? There we were, watching a great alternative to WWE, had high expectations for the Hogan arrival and then were confident that the company was growing when they started to travel and air live. Now look at them.

:disappointed:

Call me in another six years when the next underdog gets a television contract and provides a product that isn't WWE.

If it's anything, Court Bauer has said ROH will be re-branding their TV show this year and they've pretty much let the poster leak out as ROH Reloaded. They plan on doing what they should have done when Cornette had the chance, so it could turn out to be a sleaker product for those of you who are so irritating by non-flawless production. They're booking bigger arenas for it so that they can use a lighting grid too, which they bought for Best in the World but weren't allowed to use for safety reasons... and haven't used it yet.

Presentation matters. Perception is reality. If you look like your product is filmed in a high school gym, with high school gym lighting, then people will treat your product as though it is a high school gym product.

I'd be iffy on that, and can easily hit back that even though ROH doesn't run the nicest or best buildings (they've not ran a high school gym in years, although they do their dojo/training school shows from very odd places), at least it runs the economically smart buildings and the buildings it knows it can fill. It had easily the best building out of everyone in town during NOLA weekend, KB would probably agree or shed some light on that. It had the Hammerstein which is much nicer than the Ballroom in NYC when it went to NYC, the arena it runs in Toronto is nice, some of the TV arenas it runs can be sketchy (the one from the newest TV in Dearborn, Michigan looks like its front is just glass, I'm pretty sure people outside can see what's going on inside), but again its packing out every arena it runs.

However, as I said, when they start this Reloaded stuff, whether it be the new re-branded TV show as some expect or just a tour name for the fall, their arenas are bigger. WWE runs the WesBanco Arena when they go to Wheeling for house shows and has even ran an episode of Raw from there. And The Lakeland Center in Florida holds 3,000+ and they're taping TV there in October, also said to be pretty state of the art.

Reloaded? Really? Is this 2003 again?

I'm not too high on it either, but at this point Ring of Honor Wrestling has ran its course and there are still a lot of people skeptical on it because they watched when Cornette was in charge, saw guys like Mike Mondo getting pushes and the crappy standard definition handheld camera production and were like, "not watching this again". Now the shit is in HD, they've even got that weird crane camera like TNA has and WWE used to have on NXT, the lighting is going to be improved further, sound is improved (depending on who you ask it needs more improving), so really for a company on syndicated TV it's doing pretty well for itself.

Have you seen Best in the World? Cause 10,000 watched that, and I saw more praise than complaints. Granted bringing those levels to TV is what they need to do, but still, PPV is on TV so my point stands.

I'd give ROH a try if they got on a real network...

...I know what you mean, but I also wouldn't call the largest telecommunications company in America, fake or not "real". Especially considering according to their investors reports an average of 300,000 people were watching ROH across all channels in 2013, that was a transitional year from Cornette's shit being ended to Delirious' stuff beginning and wasn't the best, hadn't names like AJ Styles either or the momentum they've had this year. So that could be higher, and when you they had 32% access to American households last year and now have 39.2%, wouldn't be surprised if for a not "real" network those viewership numbers are up. Not even counting online, which more people I know at least watch the show.

I understand that ROH is growing and it's production value is improving but for me to watch, the characters and match styles have to be a lot more different. So more of a focus on character development and less focus on the flips and the dives. I'm not saying they should be WWE but I think that's something they should work on to gain more fans.

But people who watch ROH know the personas, because they watch ROH, because ROH doesn't focus on characters. It's not about the characters, it's about wrestling. They don't want to tuning in to see what this character will do this week, they want you to watch to see who'll have the best match of the show this week or how a story will be progressed this. There are personas though, for nearly everyone. E.g. faux MMA hipsters, reDRagon. Self-entitled "franchise player", Adam Cole. Rednecks, The Briscoes. Intense powerhouse, Michael Elgin. Determined rookie, Cedric Alexander. Disgruntled veterans, The DECADE (Strong, Whitmer and Jacobs), etc.

That's how it differs. I don't think people seem to get the whole concept where to be different... you have to be different. Its always been like this, too. Punk didn't have a character, he was himself with the volume turned up. Bryan was the same, and he joined WWE the same and was pretty much the same until he won the World Heavyweight title and started turning heel, which was a play off his ROH heel turn. Joe was a machine, The Wolves haven't changed a bit since joining TNA from what I've seen. Just two guys who are great wrestlers. So if you're looking for characters, it's the wrong place to look, CHIKARA however, you'll love! Characters galore!

...all those numbers are excellent, they really are.

But it won't change the fact that it doesn't come on in my market lol.

..... Did you seriously just refer to Sinclair Broadcasting as the biggest telecommunications company in America? What qualifiers are we using here, it's the biggest telecommunications company excluding all the bigger other ones?

No, really. NBC Universal and Verizon (to start) probably aren't even aware of Sinclair's existence. I would VERY much not call them a real network, because people actually know where they can find the real ones.

If there was any question that promo for the new debuting wrestler last night that got the H_ _ _ _ tease is none other than Jessicka Havok, here's a picture of Havok in the exact same mask that appeared in the promo:

Yeah, no doubt. Joe and I were talking about it for a few in the LD last night, and he pointed it out. The second he did, it was clear as could be.

Knockouts need new blood. This should be interesting.

Fuck Rampage Jackson. Who is TNA signing next, that black guy from Too Fast Too Furious? No, not Rocky or Diesel, the "hongry" one.

More importantly, fuck Jon Gaburick! Losing Rampage is like that new army vet losing his left shoe, but many wrestlers who are actually talented are lost because little Mister Contract-expirations couldn't find a phone or a pen when it matters.

Yet MMA-legend, Tito Ortiz, is coming back.
fixed ;)

A quick internet search revealed some pretty geeky outfits. I could get behind that.

Also, I could get behind that. Her, me and ODB for the biggest three-way in the world. Yeah buoy!

Joe and Low Ki should be great. As far as Rampage and Tito goes, let's just call it a write off and leave it at that.
