Shelley had more upside than Sabin IMO. Better look. Better charisma. But they both seemed a little stuck. Would have taken years and years to get them to break out.

I mean, if Eric Young did it, Shelley could have.

In an ideal world they would have been prominent members of the X-Division, also having good midcard feuds and they would have grown to good upper midcard/main event talent. A bit like Austin Aries (probably not as good though)

Aries is a great example for Shelley, actually. That's the exact type of career arc he could have had. The problem is, it took Aries a long time to get there. Time Shelley felt wasn't worth banking on. And he may have been right to think that way. From what I understand he's gone on to find massive success in Japan where he's probably making more money than he was in TNA anyway. Would he have found that same success and money in TNA? I have no idea. But he obviously thought not and found greener pastures elsewhere.

As far as look and charisma, that's a matter of opinion. I won't disagree that Shelley certainly had both, but "Hail Sabin!" is probably one of the best things the X Division ever had. The crowd ate it up.

Years and years to break out, in a B company, that isn't growing, isn't worth it. I think MCMG was greater than the sum of its parts, and that is as high as either would have gone.

Eric Young did it because there was basically no one left after so long. Maybe Alex and Chris would have had the same fortune. I can't say. I was a huge EY fan, but I never thought he'd have gotten any higher on the card than he was before Hogan came in.

Thing is, if TNA are using him, ROH won't. Same thing happened with Matt Hardy where he worked out a way to work for both, TNA were up for it but ROH weren't and they released/stopped using him, mid-storyline. So Aries will have to take things like that into mind before making a decision on where he works.

I'd like to take a moment to be thankful TNA finally has a champion who is thankful to TNA for his being their champion.

I can't tell you how sick and tired I am of reading the weekly "Angle back to WWE" plugs where he talks about how he'd like to retire/return to their company... while being the supposed flag-bearer of TNA.

There's a new flag-bearer in town — a real flag-bearer — and his name is Carter.

I know this doesn't apply to everyone in wrestling, but I do find it funny that WWE supposedly reaches out to various talents in other organizations like ROH when they develop a decent following. Rumors went around about them wanting AJ Styles and the Young Bucks, but it could've been speculation. Next thing you know they'll want EC3 back.

WWL president announced that Juventud Guerrera, PJ Black (Justin Gabriel) and James Storm have signed to the promotion. He specified James Storm has a 6 month deal with renewal options.

Wait, is Storm not with TNA anymore?

The rumor is that a lot of these releases to GFW are part of the invasion angle. Low Ki's release is legit, but guys like Storm, Magnus and others are going to GFW as part of the angle.

The only thing that is concerning me about this rumored invasion is the latest FSM issue that Nick Aldis rights a column for were he is pretty blunt about TNA and, in particular, his hatred of the Mickie train incident. He states he only went along with it because he knew he wouldn't be signing a new contract. On a related side note, Jim Cornette also sticks the boot into Dixie and TNA in his column in the same magazine.

On a plus side, JS is still tweeting about the revolution so I am still hopeful.

Well JS is still "employed" by TNA in terms of the time frame we're operating from. TNA taped well in advance, so he'll continue to talk TNA until he reaches the event horizon.

I don't care what Cornette has to say, and I read the same stuff from Aldis. I'm just reporting what I've read. I'm not entirely sure this "invasion" thing will work either unless it's a part of a much larger re-brand where GFW actually "takes over" TNA.

From what Meltzer has said, Magnus and Storm are both still with TNA they're just working the angle that they've "left" and joined the "rival" GFW - the GFW who has no TV deal or anything.

Austin Aries, Gunner and Sam Shaw are all actually gone.

In other news, a TNA fan site is reporting this...

http://www.tnawrestlingnews.com/headlines/tnas-plans-for-a-storyline-with-roh-nixed-more/

As reported last week, TNA had pitched the idea of working with ROH earlier this year. The plan was to have a top ROH talent come in, attack a top TNA babyface and then put over the TNA talent at a TNA show.

Obviously, that never happened.

To point out the obvious, that's stupid as fuck and there was literally nothing in the deal to entice ROH in wanting to do business with TNA.

However, ROH should definitely contact TNA, make an agreement where they'll send someone so long as that person can trade wins with a top TNA babyface and then at the next TNA TV taping, Cheeseburger shows up to represent ROH.

Exactly why the two companies can't work together. One has to go over the other. That's why these invasion angles are pointless, and why I keep saying the only way it makes sense in this case is if GFW actually wins and re-brands the company.

According to The Wrestling Observer, TNA Wrestling might in fact be looking to leave Destination America this September, which is when the network can enact its “out clause” with the company.

The backstage talk is that privately, at least some TNA talents have been given an indication that the company will be looking for a new TV deal and that the money they make from overseas TV deals will keep them going while they shop around for a new deal here in the US.

Some TNA wrestlers were reportedly told that TNA will survive either way because the company has trimmed most of the big contracts down and because it’s gotten rid of most of the higher-paid talents. Some wrestlers were also told that the TNA business model is changing, which could help the company stay afloat beyond Destination America.
