Impact Support Club House

Gotcha.

So this is all still in line with the theory that this is all part of a larger invasion angle that will ultimately end with TNA being re-branded GFW?

If so, I'm good with it.

In theory. But then again, GFW was fathered by the same person as TNA. So who the fuck knows how it will all end.

As stated earlier in the thread, I have already been getting the feeling that this is in the works. But seeing Magnus and Jarrett smiling and shaking hands celebrating Magnus's apparent signing with GFW while backstage at Slammiversary, with Impact Wrestling logos flashing prominently on monitors in the background, just went further to drive home my suspicions.

I won't assert that this has for sure been in the works all along, and it could perhaps be a result of some type of buyout as some have speculated, but at this point the whole TNA/GFW dynamic just feels like something that will ultimately come across as an elaborate version of a giant restructuring/re-branding for the TNA product.

It is needed. The X Title is green, KOTM title and now an invasion to take place. This could work out good as long AS TNA comes out on top. If they lose, well it is as pointless as Aces & Eights.

Anyone notice how ancient the TV title belt looked? I thoughtbthey changed the bright red strap for a black one. Nope. Its just gotten so old in whatever abyss it fell into it lost its color.

I actually think that for this to work the end game has to be the ending of TNA as its rolled into "GFW", which would essentially go ahead as the new replacement company, but operate more like a next generation TNA, with not just a new name but hopefully also a renewed focus.

And no Dixie Carter in charge.

Exactly. TNA actually has to lose in order for this to work. The entire thing has to end with GFW with Team Jarrett versus TNA with Team Dixie(?), where GFW goes over and effectively "takes over" the company.

Re-brand complete overnight. TNA is now GFW, and Jeff Jarrett is now the majority owner of "future".

Maybe he keeps some aspect of "IMPACT" involved. I have no idea. That's for the marketing guys to figure out.

But "TNA Wrestling" is damaged-as-fuck as a brand. And has the forever hurdle of having to sidebar explain to advertisers it doesn't stand for tits and ass.

It's nice to see some excitement and buzz surrounding TNA for the first time in what seems like forever. On a personal level, I watched Impact last week for the first time in an eternity, and I actually didn't feel like gouging my eyes out afterwards. I guess that constitutes progress. I may even watch again this week, and see what direction all of this hoopla heads in.

I can't quite wrap my head around the whole rebranding notion, and I hope it's not all smoke and mirrors to attempt to hide the same old same old. TNA has plenty of problems, we all know that and discuss it frequently here in these forums. Whether it's difficulty in maintaining a presence on television, difficulty in taking the product to PPV, problems with consistent payment of their talent, and dare I say it, problems with the on air product, I'm not totally sure how simply renaming the company really does much to address all of this baggage. If we assume that even half of what is reported is factual, how does rebranding change things? If ratings are down, money is tight, etc., so they let a bunch of their talent "leave" the company, and return to the company as a successful invading faction, how do the ratings improve and how does the almighty dollar problems get solved? If ultimately, after this all plays out, and they are now called GFW instead of TNA, and are lead by Jeff Jarrett instead of Dixie Carter (an obvious step up, but I digress), who solves all of their other deep rooted problems, and how?

If ratings are down, money is tight, etc. and they run an invasion angle where they have an invading army of former "staples" in to take the company back, in this day and age where that story would get sent out across all types of social media, you might get eyes just to see that faction win.

GFW as TNA II (or WCW III, if you will) is great news.

My one concern is what will happen with EC3 when he's no longer the silver-spooned protégé of privilege?

He can either play off that, and be a whiny spoiled brat, who feels he's entitled and wants his shot handed to him, or he cuts his losses and crawls to Vince, looking for an "opportunity".

He's already established. The "silver-spooned protégé of privilege" thing can carry over just fine even if Dixie ends up ousted. In fact, he can play off that and complain loudly about how his "Aunt D" was screwed, and how he's going to avenge her. Or he can just evolve past it and continue to be the arrogant prick he portrays without needing to rely on the "why" as much.

Meltzer spoke about all this on this mornings WO radio cast.

http://forums.wrestlezone.com/showthread.php?p=5234981#post5234981

Main points are:
- This invasion angle is TNA's idea
- Wrestle-1 was originally slated to do it but things didn't work out between them
- AAA didn't want to do it most likely because Konnan still has bad blood with TNA
- CMLL didn't want to do it but TNA were on the fence about that because nobody would know any of the CMLL guys
- ROH didn't want to do it as they saw no benefit and believe they're now above TNA
- GFW was the last option and Jarrett was open to doing it because its a way for him to promote GFW considering he has no TV deal and as of now no TV deal is imminent, it was also a way on TNA's side to reconcile with Jarrett and do some other business with him
- There is no merger planned as of now but if TNA is canceled in September as planned Jarrett could buy the company as without a TV deal or a network backing them TNA won't last more than a few weeks anyway.

Meltzer also said he has no details on how some talents in GFW such as Jim Cornette or Bullet Club will play a part in this as Bullet Club are contracted to NJPW who work with ROH closely and Cornette's spent the last few years talking shit about TNA, but he doesn't see a lot of guys who work elsewhere like them featured which is why guys like Magnus, James Storm are "leaving" and signing with GFW.

And it was noted, Austin Aries has legitimately left TNA, he won't be playing a part in the angle unless he signs with GFW but Aries and Jarrett don't have a great relationship so he doesn't see it. Meltzer said that hes hearing from different people that Aries is looking to go back to ROH as it's a lot different to when he left when Cornette was running it. Aries has also signed with a talent agency in LA.

I just hope the ladies and gentlemen who perform for TNA will have a place to work in the future. Preferably, somewhere I can see them on my TV...
