Thoughts on the movie, if you would.

Yeah. I'm watching ti right now and I am sure that I am going to love this movie. Maybe it will have the same effect on me as The Godfather or movies of that nature.

Tim Curry is "It."

Watch "It," then watch "Rocky Horror Picture Show." Your mind will be blown.

An awesome book made into a pretty good movie. Writing about the same characters as pre-teens and then as adults is a task only Stephen King would try, let alone master.

The problem with the movie is the same as with most adaptations from print to screen: you can't get into to the character's heads, and in this movie, you really need to.

What would your greatest fear be?

Ironically enough, probably the humongous 20 foot tall spider. Unfortunately, the one used in the film was not a very convincing one. However, the one used in Lord of the Rings was enough to make you squirm.

I can't really talk at length now, but I'll talk more about the series later this evening. Truly a great, great miniseries. Definitely my favorite Stephen King film.

Also some key differences from the novel which I'll talk about, too.

Yup, Tim Curry as "It" was truly a wonderful performance and made for an excellent movie. As for Stephen King's best movie adaptation, I don't think so. I think the Shawshank Redemption was a better movie altogether even though it is only loosely based on the novella. I am very interested to hear what Sidious says later on though.

Don't disappoint me.

Absolutely great film. Loved Tim Curry as Pennywise. Was intrigued to see the story told while showing the kids in their childhood along with their encounters with It, as well as their confrontations with It as adults.

I see a lot of flack about It actually being a gigantic spider at the end of the film, as people think that this is It's true form, but it actually isn't.

If you read the book, there is a passage in it that makes it quite clear that this still is not It's true form. Rather, It's true form is never revealed. His true form exists outside of this world and rather, exists in It's home world, that being the Dead Lights. It is however described by Stan (the one that slit his wrists) when he had the encounter with It in the sewer with Henry Bowers.

Normally, when one stares into the Dead Lights, they lose their minds, and It can overtake them. However, Stan was able to stare into the Dead Lights, and fortunately maintain his mind. However, he stated to the others that when he looked into the Dead Lights, that he could see It's true form. He described It as "writhing, destructive orange light." He also stated that this light took the shape of a "hairy crawling shape". So, in essence he saw a hairy, crawling shape made out of blinding orange light ... leading them to believe that It was most comparable to a spider in our world.

Both the film and the book make clear that although It is primarily hallucinations of the mind (including the Pennywise form), It apparently MUST take an Earthly form in order to feed on its victims. So I don't know if It chose the form of a spider to do so, or if It was simply a spider because that is most likely what the kids thought It mostly resembled. I don't think this was made clear in the book, either.

But I just wanted to elaborate on that topic a little bit.

I do hear they are remaking this series into a movie. I have mixed feelings about this, as I have a feeling that Tim Curry is not going to be topped as Pennywise. But, I do have a feeling that the spider is going to be a lot more realistic this go round ... probably similar to the one in Lord of the Rings, which was as creepy as all get out.

The book also mentions that the kids actually had two altercations with the spider, not just one like showed in the miniseries. They apparently also had an altercation in the sewer with the spider, but were unable to kill It. Then, they had another altercation with It as a spider when they were adults. So maybe this next time we will see both altercations.

The book also went into greater detail in explaining why It actually feared this particular group of kids, as there is a spiritual being referred to as "The Turtle" that is apparently looking over and protecting the kids, which they are apparently unaware of. Apparently, The Turtle and It are mortal enemies with each other.

But just an awesome, awesome piece of work.

Stephen King FTW.

...It as a new movie? Tim Curry better damn well be playing Pennywise again.
