If you could watch a former wrestler wrestle one last time, who would it be?

if I could see any one wrestler wrestle one more match, I'd have to say Chris Benoit. I hate what he did, and there is no excusing it, but regardless of the circumstances of his death, I wish I could see one more match of his. Benoit vs Jericho vs Angle maybe, those three always put on a hell of a show together.

I'm with you all the way on seeing Chris Benoit one last time even after what he did he is still a phenominal wrestler. If I could see one more Chris Benoit match I would want it to be against CM Punk. I was really looking forward to seeing this match right before he past. I think this match would turn out to be very good. Maybe for the WWE or World title to make the stakes a little higher.

Can't be anyone but my favourite wrestler of all time, the one and only Hitman Bret Hart. Perhaps going against Shawn Michaels and reverse the most controversial finish of all time - you know which one I'm talking 'bout.

I'd also like to see Chris Benoit, the wrestler and not the person he became, have one final match against Kurt Angle or Chris Jericho. All those three men functioned so well together in matches, and whenever they were booked to battle, you knew which match was gonna be the best match on the card. They all brought out the best in each other. I don't think the world will ever another display of pure wrestling that's even gonna come close to rivaling Chris Benoit's best work. But those times are gone, and the memories are all that remain. Good and, err, otherwise. Yeah. Man, it feels awkward just talking about it.

I wanna see Ricky the Dragon Steamboat again, when he was in his prime, going up against someone like Edge. Those two could put on a match to rival Savage/Steamboat from WMIII. It would simply be amazing. Edge's in ring style, his intensity actually reminds me a bit of Savage from the WWF, before he roided up big time and joined WCW. Combine that with Steamboat, and you have all the makings for a hell of a great match.

I was going to say Bret Hart as I'm a huge mark for him. Benoit is another that put on some of my all time favorite matches but after reading an earlier post I'm going with Arn Anderson. He single handedly(imo) made both the tv title and wcw worldwide on saturday morning relevant and awesome. I still cringe thinking of some of his spinebusters. He was 1 tough son of a bitch and always delivered the best he could.

I'm going to have to go with the master of the diamond cutter, DDP, Diamond Dallas Page. Always liked the guy, I would like to see him beat Randy Orton, claiming that the Diamond Cutter is better than the RKO.

Halloween Havoc 98 was great with DDP vs Goldberg.

Ok I'll go out on a limb with this one, but I'd LOVE to have Priceless back when they were anti-legend...or Y2J going off on one of his rants and have Demolition's music hit. May sounds weird but I think it would generate a huge pop. Unfortunately we'd have to see two old out-of-shape men in S&M outfits but I'd love seeing them again. Other than Undertaker and Adam Bomb they were the only heels I cheered for when they first appeared.

I have two guys to add to the list: Bruiser Brody vs Abdullah the Butcher. These two had some of the bloodiest matches that I can remember. Old school ECW doesn't even come close to how brutal their matches were.

I know this won't exactly be Earth-shattering, but allow me to cast my vote for Bret Hart v. Kurt Angle, for a retired star. For a star taken from us too soon, I'm gonna go Pillman vs. AJ Styles. Of course Owen, Perfect, and Rude in any capacity are honorable mentions

Bret Hart could have never had a bad match? Guess you didnt see any of his work against Yokozuna, Undertaker, Diesel, anyone who wasn't average height and weight infact.

I'm sorry but to be a great technical wrestler you have to know how to execute and when to execute more than 7 moves.

1. Drop a knee from second rope
2. Russian Leg Sweep
3. Suplex
4. Bulldog
5. Sharpshooter
6. Clothesline
7. Dropkick

I can't recall seeing Bret ever do anything else!

Obviously you haven't seen him wrestle a full match then. Not only is that only a small percentage of moves he did, you didn't even get them right. He didn't drop a knee from the second rope, it was an elbow. I would put a legitimate list of moves Bret did perform regularly, but I frankly don't have the time, it would take hours.

As per your claim that Bret had bad matches against big guys, the best match of Yoko's career was against Bret at WM IX, he had a classic Street Fight with Diesel at Survivor Series 95, and his match with Taker at Summerslam 97 was also pretty good. Not to mention his many great matches with Bam Bam Bigelow, or his Royal Rumble title defense against Scott Hall, which was pretty good too. Heck, Bret even got an above average match out of the Berzerker. Can't work against superheavyweights indeed.

But to answer the question of the thread, my choices would be (in order)
1. Bret Hart
2. Owen Hart
3. Curt Hennig
4. Dean Malenko
5. "Flyin" Brian Pillman

I know we are only supposed to pick one but man it's so hard. I guess if I have to choose only one then it would be Bret Hart because like many of the other guys said, he was just perfection in the ring. It doesn't better than his in ring work. Mr. Perfect and Randy Savage come in a close second for me. Mr. Perfect because again, the guy was just gold in his technical work. Savage may not be as good at the technical stuff as these two, but he is damn close and put on very entertaining matches.

Excellent post. All this unfounded criticism of Bret annoys the hell out of me. Nothing but attitude era bandwagonners who disliked him for the anti American gimmick or his beef with Shawn and weren't actually around to see any of his work. Ask any wrestler of his era for their top 3 guys to work with and you can bet Bret will be on there. His range of moves used to stun me. Stone Cold Stun me!

As for seeing a wrestler one last time, has to be Owen.

One guy. STAN HANSEN. This man was simple, yet extremely entertaining. I've been on a Stan Hansen youtube fix for a while now...and he's also inspiration for my nickname. LARIATO!!!

In Japan, he was treated with respect and feared. He was stiff as an ox, put over Hulk Hogan with his OWN move, and was a legit bad ass. I'd give anything to see Stan Hansen face anyone like Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, or TERRY FUNK! I think he even had matches with Funk in Japan, but talk about a draw.

Him fighting guys like Lawler and Bill Dundee? Man o' man. The possibilities. His lariat is legendary. JBL can't do it half as good as Stan Hansen did. I only seen him as a kid when he beat up Luger at Halloween Havoc and he scared me to death. Now that I watch his old stuff from Japan, such as his ass kicking of Vader when he made the man's eye pop out. Talk about awesome. Stan Hansen isn't the stereotypical pic, but I've seen Hogan, Sting, Lawler, and Flair. HHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

With living, I'd also go for Bret, an amazing in ring performer who left it all in the ring every night.
As for deceased, I'll probably get laughed at and derided for this, but, being a 40 year old man, I would have to say Gorilla Monsoon. He was just great fun to watch in the ring.

slopes off to await the bullets that will inevitably follow that comment!!

jake the snake roberts. in his prime the man was awsome. his in ring psychology was the best. his promos were stuff of legends. his feud with the macho man was incredible. that was something i remembered forever..than snake biting into savage's arm..wow then when he slapped miss elisabeth for being weak....something never ever done before.

There are many greats I would luv to see back in the ring for one more match

Names such as Rick Rude.... Hawk..... Bam Bam Bigalow.... Hulk Hogan... Jake Roberts...... Hell even the Iron Sheik...

But If I had to pick one that I would luv to see have a wrestling match... just one more.... It would be the Macho Man Himself Randy Savage

That guy could put on a show anytime... the way his matches went, always impressed me... I luv his interviews and his moves in the ring..... If he could come back for just one more match I would go see it for sure....

Actually I would like him to come back and settle his fued with Hulk Hogan....

But even in the shape he is in today.... He would probably ruin alot of the wrestlers in the ring....

Even Macho vs John cena would be hype...

Or put him in the ring with HHH.... that would be great heat lmao

If there is one wrestler that I would want to watch wrestle again and he is retired or deceased then it would most definitely be "The Macho Man" Randy Savage. He was always entertaining in my opinion whether he was playing a heel or he was playing the babyface role. Now I wasn't born when he was in the World Wrestling Federation so when I had heard a bunch about this guy in different places, I decided to finally look him up and read about him on wikipedia. Then I decided to go look up some of his videos on Youtube and I was immediately captivated. I have always liked all of the matches I have seen from him, and I would pay good money to see him wrestle one more time.

i also want to see eddie guerrero...i didn't watch him much back in the days...stone cold and the rock for sure...i would like to see mick foley in a hardcore match...i only watched one between him and randy orton(i think it was backlash 2004)...i liked ricky steamboat's matches after wrestlemania so i would like to see him more in the ring and didn't vince use to compete serious?if yes, him

Bret The Hitman Hart for sure! The guys gold! He's the excellence of execution, and now that we have a NEW Hart Foundation I'd like to see Bret give them a rub or mange them and make them seem more credible!

Honorable mentions:
Eddie Guerrero VIVA LA RAZA! R.I.P. HOMES!
Chris Benoit R.I.P. U PHSYCHOTIC WRESTLING MASTERMIND!
Brock Lesnar Pure dominance 'nuff said!
Owen Hart THE KING OF HARTS! R.I.P.
Stonecold Steve Austin duhh...
The Rock The most electrifying man in sports entertainment!

This might sound cruel, but if I never seen another Eddie Guerrero match (on DVD, obviously) I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Yes, he was good and talented and all that - but all in all, if you've seen one Eddie Guerrero match - you've seen them all. (I suppose that logic could be used for almost anyone, but it just furthers my thoughts on Eddie being boring and unoriginal)

As for Wrestler's I'd love to see one more time.. I have a couple in general, that could actually Wrestle again..

Lance Storm: I don't think you're gonna find a bigger Storm fan than right here. His E.C.W work, to me, is amazing. He won my heart and basically made me see E.C.W as more than just a bunch of talentless hacks who waste their days wacking each other with hard objects.

Storm's short period of time in W.C.W was also what made me stay glued to watching every Monday night. He was amazing, and carried guys like Hugh Morris, Hacksaw Jim Duggan & The Cat. His Heavyweight title match against Booker T was one of MOTY quality.. and had W.C.W stayed in business for another year, I don't doubt but Storm would've become Heavyweight Champion - and a well deserved one at that.

If I could see one more Storm match, it'd have to be against Chris Benoit or Chris Jericho again though. (obviously the Benoit thought is out the window)

Dean Malenko: The quote, unquote Man of 1,000 holds. Dean Malenko was a master of unique matches and never ending changes. I think it'd be really hard pressed to find any two Malenko matches that were exactly the same. Yes, signature moves would all be in every match - but no two matches would be the exact same, as say an Eddie Guerrero match. (sorry, I don't mean to hate on Eddie)

If I could see Dean Malenko one more time, it'd without question have to be against Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, or even Lance Storm. (I think those two could put on one hell of a technical beauty of a match.)

I guess this is sort of like a Dream match thread, so some matches I would love to see are:

Chris Jericho vs. Kurt Angle vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock vs. Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan in an Elimination Chamber match at Mania. They just happen to be my top favorites of all time.

Owen Hart vs. Chris Benoit

Andre the Giant vs. The Big Show

I’ll have more later, I’m sure.

Im going to go with a wrestler no one has talked about, and thats Magnum T.A.
I've seen on old vhs tapes of him in NWA having some great matches with Tully Blanchard and Nikita Koloff over the U.S. title. And also some great tag matches with him and Dusty against The Four Horsemen. Its a shame because it seemed that they were pushing Magnum to become NWA heavyweight champ one day but a car acident that paralyzed the left side of his body changed that

I know I'll probably get mocked, but I don't care. My absolute favorite wrestler/entertainer/superstar of all times is Brian Pillman. Mainly cause he was the first guy to actually hold my attention, and he convinced me that Pete Rose wasn't the only great athlete from the 'Nati. He was also one of the first "highflyers" in the United States.Sure, his matches weren't exactly "technical Masterpieces" but he was able to tell a story, and, depending on his mood, he could get the fans to either love him or hate him. I remember, when he was in the WWF, they did a house show here in Cincy. Pillman came out and place fuckin' exploded. One minute into his promo, everyone, myself included, wanted him to get his ass handed to him. That takes talent in your own hometown!

As far as guys that are still alive, I'd say Lash LeRoux. That'll get me some shit in these parts. The only reason I said him was because he's entertaining, and was a decent worker.

Deweys Dream Match= Pillman vs. LeRoux.

I would have loved to see the rubber match of Davey Boy v Bret... with the title at stake, just so we could see Davey win the title just once, like he truly deserved.

Bruiser Brody. This guy could just plain tear it up. I wouldn't really care who the opponent would be. I would like it be Mick Foley, Mike Knox, or The Necro Butcher.

If not Brody, then Nick Mondo. The stuff nick used to do was insane, It would be amazing to see Nick vs Thumbtack Jack. Then vs Now.
